  1. I was just researching on LP Catalogue about Vinyl releases of the main albums and I was surprised to see Meteora had a vinyl release but why on earth was it pressed on TWO vinyl records?

    http://lpcatalog.com/item/2003_meteora/vinyl/0093624818618_us

It's their shortest studio album so far, so if LT, HT and MTM could all fit on one record, why not Meteora? ATS and Reanimation had to be on two as they where both longer than 45 minutes. meteora is a measly 36 minutes! What gives?

  2. To be honest, all I'd change is put "The Summoning" as the intro/ track one in front of KTTKD.

That was one of my minor disappointments with THP as TS is such an epic build up track, War seemed a bit flat coming straight after. Don't get me wrong. It's a great hard rock/punk song but it wasn't as heavy or in your face as some of the reviews made it out to be. KTTKD would be more ideal

  3. Personally I think sonic is right. Sure it's just a coincidence but I do remember Valentines day in the MTM era being hit or miss with fans. Probably not as much as In Between was but still.

Then again Robot boy was more controversial on ATS than Blackout and Skin to bone is just as controversial as Until it Breaks on LT. So... :P

  4. Ah man it would be so interesting to see that early footage of Xero I mean I can guarantee it'll be really shitty quality and the band would probably been sloppy and amateur compared to now,.. But seeing mark with them would be insane.

  5. We'll let me point you to the band SEVENDUST as an example:

Here is one of there classic songs "Denial" known for its angst, and nü metal-ness...

Too heavy to be acoustic right?

    Wrong!

Check out the acoustic version they released last year:

See, it is possible, with a few rearrangements here and there. A song like APFMH could work wonderfully with the right arrangement. However I do see your point about Mikes rapping, something that bands like 7D don't have a problem with.

Then again LP have already done In the End acoustically so, it can work.

  6. Out of interest, would a pre HT/ Xero show actually exist? I mean is there even proof someone actually recorded the band back then? I mean I'd love to see such an early and rare performance but I really doubt something like that would ever surface. If there is a tape of it, it's probably in someone's attic with a bunch of other family videos gathering dust that will never even seen ever again

Also, that making of MTM Webster hall version, was it ever broadcast outside America?

  7. I've been arguing for years that the band never should have started tuning the guitars to standard/Drop D instead of Eb/Drop C# on Minutes to Midnight. If they'd just transpose all the songs down half a step that aren't already tuned that way, it'd instantly make everything easier on Chester, AND they'd have fewer guitar changes to deal with. We've seen already that they can transpose songs by a half step when necessary - they tuned Numb/Encore down half a step for Paul McCartney since he traditionally sings Yesterday in F instead of F#, and they tuned the live version of My December up from D to Eb because the guitar on the studio version is in Drop C, which is a tuning they've never used for live performances. So obviously transposing the samples isn't an issue, they just don't choose to do it for whatever reason.

I've always wondered why they've never gone back to Drop C# or Eb tunings since MTM. Is it cause of the strats they've been using? or is it just cause they want to shy away from their nü metal days as much as possible?

  8. many of the Folky songs on Lt would sound good in this format. Here's my set list:

Note these are mostly full band acoustic renditions...

Papercut (á la the music video)

When they come For Me (an epic tribal percussion version )

    Wastelands (á la WTCFM)

What I've done (a stripped acoustic version with dual guitars)

I'll Be Gone/Primo (basically IBG with the gorgeous guitar parts of Primo)

Burning in the skies (full band acoustic)

Castle of Glass (full band acoustic)

    Rebellion (full band acoustic)

    Roads Untraveled (full band acoustic)

In between ( the album version pretty much, with Phoenix on cello)

My December (full band acoustic with Phoenix on cello)

    The Messenger (the album version)

    Drawbar (full band acoustic)

The Little things give you away (full band acoustic)

    And One (full band acoustic)

    Forgotten (full band acoustic)

A Place for my head (full band acoustic)

Crawling (full band acoustic with Phoenix on cello from the Reanimation version)

  9. About Rebellion, I sure hope LP tour with SOAD or scars of Broadway at some point. At least then we could feasibly see rebellion played live with Daron coming out as a guest then brad doesn't need to worry about learning that part and bringing a new guitar on tour - although Phoenix still may have too. Also does that song require 2 guitarists to play it live? Could they get away with just one like on by myself/ place for my head? I hope they can sort it out. It's one of the best tracks from THP.

  10. Simple answer to both is that the guy who originally ripped it threw a temper tantrum when the mp3 rip leaked, refused to share it in better quality, and never posted scans of the CD. For some reason, LPL staff turned that into "well we can't TECHNICALLY prove that the CD exists, therefore we have to pretend the HT instrumentals don't exist because omg phear WBR," even though they're no more or less illegal to share than HT unmastered, The Rising Tied instrumentals, etc...it's stupid.

Oh wow I had no idea. Now all this hush hush surround this material makes a little more sense. Its a shame, but at least we have the demos/samplers and unmastered versions of HT without no hassle or fuss. Could be allot worse I suppose.

In that case I hope LP release the HT instrumentals (and more) officially like they did with Liviing things. I can only imagine something like that will solve this problem once and for all.

  11. Please excuse me mods, but I'm genuinly curious...

The Hybrid Theory offical instrumentals... Why is it such a taboo to ask/request for this album compared to say the offical Rising Tied instrumentals? HT is alot harder to come by and there is less discussion about it on this forum than i would have thought. is it because its an offical release, or an "unintended" offical release?

My question is this: Does a 320kps (or higher) rip of this album exsist?

I've only managed to track down a 220kps version a few years ago, which isn't bad but not exactly the best on offer.

If anyone can help, then thanks! :)

  12. Sweet website that. It's crazy how many versions there are for each of their releases! The only thing is that it isn't very clear In seeing what are digipacks and what aren't (unless it's stated in the name). Luckily there seems to be scans for each one so I can tell that' way.

  13. Another one for you guys...

Does anyone know if "Minutes to Midnight" TOUR EDITION & "Living Things" (standard version) came in digipack formats? I always prefer to get digipack versions wherever possible over the standard jewel cases but when these first came out they weren't available. Anyone know if they did them in the end? Thanks

  14. Jeeze, not more of this fan site vs. Fansite nonsense again....

Back on topic! Wastelands is a damn good song! Fantastic riff from brad! Hopefully he's got his mojo back on this album (and then some!). Killer beat from rob and Mike is on great form as usual. Chester's vocals continue to be different but I'm digging the rawness and unprocessed style heard in the three tracks so far. I doubt we've heard the tip of iceberg yet when he unleashes the beast on the rest of the album tracks.
