I'm not a metal head at all, but I think A Thousand Suns sucked. Well not sucked, but it was an ok album, not great. I hate how Mike thinks the only people who hated ATS are metal heads who want Hybrid Theory/nu-metal because that's not true. ATS had way too many interludes and was overproduced. Gems of the album were Burning in the Skies and Waiting For the end. Wretches and Kings was a fun/nostalgic track but nothing special. The album just did not deliver after 3-4 years of waiting ( which is the BIGGEST issue for me, if they can put out an album 1-2 years a time then whatever, but i hate how slow they are in creating music) and all the teasing by the band pre-release. It just fell flat for me. I still listen to the album regularly, but meh it's just ok..

he absolutely did. he would be stupid if he wouldn't defend his own music, haha. i just think some of the people bashing on the so called "haters" should read mikes post again, or better, wait for the "upgraded" version, and then think about it again.

I don't know if its just me, but I feel like a lot of you are just missing the point. Not saying that you wouldn't be right, but I think, Mikes post wasn't about how much the "haters" suck. Some of you seem to believe, that the only thing, Mike said, was, that he's tired of the "haters" too, but I don't see that. In my eyes, he was trying to explain, that theres no need to bash on people only because they don't like ATS. And theres especially no reason to bash on the people on ITunes - Mike made clear, that he's not just a person who only wants heavy guitar, but that he is also listening to electronic music and stuff. People don't only hate on ATS because its not HT, but because they simply don't like it. Theres also the other way around - people say, I would only like ATS because its by LP, but they also have to think about the possibility, that I like it, simply because I can identify with the sound and because I like what they created. Not because of the people who created it, at least not only because of them. I get that you're tired of the people who are like "I wantz HT back!!!", and a lot of them really seem narrow-minded, but I think thats not the kind of people Mike was talking about. I just feel like some of you missed the point. I don't want to offend anyone, but.. I think some people should just be a bit more respectful towards different opinions. Some of you were already planning again on bashing the shit out of the Itunes guy, talking about how much Mikes blog entry would have been a slap into the face of the "haters" - but I think that has nothing to do with what Mike was planning to say. I had the impression he was trying to defend the people who happen to not identify with ATS. Well, maybe I'm wrong and I'm the one missing the point but.. I don't think so.

I question if some of you even got what he wrote, when you are still talking about "haters" in general.

I got to know Fabio last year after the exclusive DBS concert in germany. We, as well as some other great LP fans, spent some hours on the train station and took the same train (together with Stefano) home. We almost slept all the time because it was freaking late, so we didn't have much time to talk, but somehow we started to talk a lot afterwards via msn. I found an awesome friend in him, and he is one of the few persons, who I really, truely trust. He became one of my best friends by now. Do you know the kind of people, who make you smile, when you log into your messenger and see that they are online? Well, I'm proud to be able to say, that I'm friends with one of them. This is for sure the first reason, why he truely deserves to win - he gave me a lot with the friendship and even listens after the 10000s time when I complain about random stuff. It would be an honor to be able to give something back to him, besides being his friend.

I actually asked Fabio, why he himself thinks, he would deserve to win. Well, his answer was, that he finally wants to be able to browse youporn outside with wifi hotspots. Of course he was just joking, but wouldn't it be nice to make this possible for him with the IPod Touch? I think it would. Well, if you want a more children-friendly reason.. I think he deserves the IPod, so he can even post news and lurk even more when being in the bathroom.

Of course this isn't a real reason, since I guess, that a lot of people would like to be able to do so.

I guess most of you know Fabio due to his outstanding help with lplive. He did a lot for the community, tries to help in the forums and helped me, personally, to figure out how to behave here, haha.

i think the most important reason, why he should win, is simply, that he is a badass person, dedicated to everything he does - friends, work for the community, and above all of course Linkin Park. It would be wrong to say, that he is a greater fan than anyone else here, because I think everyone here is just as obsessed with Linkin Park. Nevertheless, he is an outstanding person, who deserves to get some credit for his helpful and simply amazing character and behaviour.

I think Iridescent was very awesome, though when all of the guys were singing together, there was one of them singing totally wrong, lol. It was kinda cute though and didn't change, that the song was pure awesomeness. I'm suprised how incredibly good Mikes vocals have been.

Chester and Rob were not in Germany. If Im not mistaken the inerviewer went to meet LP in LA. Just like 1live did when they interviewed Chester.

i'm not sure, but I would disagree with you, since energy.de states chester and rob would have visited them in their studio. and it wasn't even an interview. i could be wrong though.

Seems like Mike and Phoenix weren't the only ones visiting Germany during their promotion tour this year.

You can think what you like about the album, but saying there are no similarities between it and the music the band made in their early days is flat-out wrong.

And you sir, sound just like one of those old blowhards from a long-socially-irrelevant generation that swears "real music" died when Elvis started swinging his hips or when the Beatles landed in New York. You've got 10 years on me age-wise (meaning you probably grew up worshiping Nirvana, one of the most laughably overrated bands in the history of music, but I digress...), but at 22, I'm significantly older than the majority of LP's fanbase. Roughly 90% of the music I own was recorded before 1980. And I can say with 100% honesty that I think this is the best album Linkin Park has ever made.

 

Yes, that's right, for all the people who gasped at the concept or didn't have it register the first time I said it: I believe A Thousand Suns is a better album than Hybrid Theory.

 

I read a comment on another site yesterday that really put it in perspective for me: "R.I.P. Linkin Park. Long live Linkin Park." I would be perfectly content if for the rest of their career, Linkin Park continued to break down all perceptions of what they sound like with each successive album. The idea of what "Linkin Park" is in the eyes of their fans and the media is something that deserves to die every few years, and then be reborn according to the ideas of the only 6 people in the world who truly have the right to decide what "Linkin Park" really is at any given point in time.

how often do you plan to keep on bitching at people who bitch? i think a couple of here don't get that people are angry with this band.

 

many people here followed the band from its kid's days. it is a big change now and a couple of people (including myself) were still hoping that there could be influences from these old days which most of these fans love. since there aren't any influences (except for a rapping here and there) we are all shocked and angry. i am not saying anymore that it's total crap by them, but it definiatly does not fit in any of my music tastes. and don't tell people to grow up if you bitch as well! sorry, but that's my opinion.

Its total crap. Pop, synth driven crap. Blackout could be cool, but they ruined it with all the electronic garbage they threw in. Huge mistake on LP's part with this album.

Lol.. It's not the truth 'cause I say it. If you think this is a "masterpiece"(I really haven't called ANY album masterpiece.. Very heavy word), then ok. You're entitled to your opinion. If I was a hater, what the hell would I be doing here? Just trolling? I am 2 years on this site and I am constantly trolling? Of course I am a fan. And LP has done lots of things that are awesome. I do not bash everything they make. But if I don't like something I'm "magically" a hater. And I didn't say the music is terrible. I said it's not good. I made a review earlier. I gave the album 6/10, which means good, but horrible with the LP standards. What the should have done to improve it? I don't know. Yes, I do not know. So? I just wanted something to sound nice to my ears. This does not. And as I said, if you were a concerned LP fan, you would see the flaws in that album. Don't just eat what they throw to you and like it.

I listened to a bunch of the tracks, and its terrible. Anyone calling it "epic" is a fool. Give me a break, they jumped the shark with this crap. At least now I know I don't have to waste my money on it. Its a god damn dance record.

I think people should start being a bit more tolerate and stop making their opinions sound like facts. Only because you don't like it doesn't mean, that the people who do, are idiots or fools. Grow up.
