Meteora (20th Anniversary Edition) | Out April 7, 2023
solidss replied to BeardyWilderness's topic in Newswire
The 2002 mix will have all the exact same parts of the song we have now, only mixed differently. The drums, bass, guitars, etc. all the individual stems of the track will be in different volumes compared to what we have now mixed by Manny. Gonna be interesting to compare both versions to see how Andy Wallace wanted it to sound in 2002 compared to Manny for his more modern sound. -
Maybe Mike didn’t feel like working on completing this track back then? He literally just explained that he JUST mixed all the stems together recently. He didn’t remember that Chesters part was actually recorded back then!

I originally thought this full song with vocals was finished 20 years ago, but since Mike only recently got the multitracks, he built the song and finished the chorus. That explains why it sounds so modern and why it was never released on LPU, because Mike never actually finished the full song with vocals until recently! Very interesting story about how this all came to be.

Meteora is a masterpiece and the tracks that made the final cut on the album deserves its spot. I'm just more surprised that these tracks were kept hidden for 20 years. Even when all the LPU CDs came out, none of it made the cut on those too despite featuring a bunch of unfinished instrumental demos. It seems like after the Meteora era, they committed to their new sound, so releasing those tracks would only mean going backwards in terms of their career so they wanted to just move past it. But 20 years, that is impressive to keeping finished tracks that would have definitely been hits back then under lock and key without ever getting leaked. -

I noticed that too the colors in this new version are completely different than the old version. Like they had done some editing on the original film. Everything in the old version seems more grey. . Especially in the very beginning of the video with the skyline it looks white/grey and more colors in the new version. -

I just found out the "Lost" track we have now on Spotify is mixed by Manny. The Andy Wallace 2002 mix is going to be released exclusively on the 3CD deluxe edition (not available on the super deluxe) -

Do you know if the Mikes Shirt instrumental is an early demo instrumental or the same instrumental as the Manny Marroquin or Andy Wallace mix? I always thought the music used in Mikes Shirt sounded like an early demo instrumental version and not the same instrumental as the finished version. For example, Cumulus, was an early demo instrumental that isn't exactly the same as the instrumental for the finished More The Victim. -

Isnt the 2002 mix of lost just a looped instrumental that was used for background music on LPTV episodes or is there another mix that you guys are thinking of? -

My guess is the Rob drum track is "Massive" And since that BBB SOUNDBITES video says "This is Resolution", it sounds like it could be an instrumental/demo version of Lost before Chester did vocals on it. -
Drag and Track, i can hear both depending on what i think of. Both words sound exactly the same. But if Brad already said that it was vocals for A6 then it shouldn't be a mystery. Do you know exactly where he mentioned that?
-
That's a lot of mistakes for sure, I hope that they get all the kinks worked out and fixed before the box set is released as I will be quite disappointed if there are mistakes in the box set itself.

What errors and mistakes are you talking about?

Unfortunately all the tracks on CD2 LPU Rarities will all be the same versions released on LPUnderground. The disc with all previously unreleased versions of songs is CD4 Lost Demos -
Good to know March 3rd was confirmed for “Fighting Myself” to be released. I was wondering why the timestamp showed up in Apple Music. Can’t wait to hear the clean full track without all the talking through it.
-
I wonder what that other track Chester is singing in the video "Just drag it out. Remember"
-
How about Massive and Wesside, are those 2 more unknown tracks that are a mystery on the lost demos?
-
Some of these questions Howard Stern asks. "Do you remember what Chesters face looked like while singing this? Does it wreck you inside?"
-
The only other version on M20 is the one released on Spotify now. There's also an instrumental demo mix from LPUTV, so that would be 2 versions. Same as "More the Victim" being released and "Cumulus" is the demo instrumental mix being released
-
theres another mix of “Lost” that was used for LPUTV, This instrumental demo could possibly be “Resolution?” since Mike didn’t recognize the “TTTAMP” lyrics when asked in the Q&A that means that version wont be it and this will be the instrumental mix, just like how we all found out today that “Cumulus” was the demo instrumental of “More The Victim” I believe “Massive” is the Rob Drum track from Meteora DVD. A6 is should also be a finalized track with vocals
-
anyone have the full podcast?
-
Which Lost Demo are you thinking of? The one with Chester singing "Thoughts that take away my pride" full version or the instrumental version used in LPUTV Mike's Shirt episode?
-
I believe that Rob drum truck from The Making of Meteora is on the "Lost Demos" CD exclusively on the Super Deluxe Box Set
