Fans: We want more from other members besides Mike always doing the press Also fans: These interviews with Brad are repetitive lol. Any time we can hear from the band these days is good. Brad speaks very well and this was a solid interview. Talking about Don, mentioning he (Brad) was the one that wanted the song mixed by Manny, etc... the smaller details like Mike taking residency in a bus in 2001 to get demos made for the next album, all of that is cool.

Brad Delson has just sat down with Rock Antenne for an audio interview, which you can listen to here. Most of it has been summarized below: Making 'Meteora': "We had a really big challenge of desperately wanting to follow up Hybrid Theory. There was a lot of nonsense in the press that we were made up somehow. The challenge was how to physically make these songs while we were still on the road. We actually outfitted a bus with a studio. Mike basically moved into that bus and we would spend time with him on that bus, creating ideas that ultimately formed the bedrock of this album that we made with Don Gilmore who also produced Hybrid Theory. We wanted to prove that Hybrid Theory wasn't a fluke, that we had something to say. We wanted to make something timeless." About "Lost": "Not everything we make is great. We make a lot of stuff to try to capture something really, really special. And this is one of those moments. And I haven't heard it in probably 20 years. And when I heard it, I was floored by it. It's one of my favorite things we've ever made. I think his vocal performance is exquisite. The subtlety on the verses and the power in the chorus... the vocal production is really, really special. Don Gilmore is a really fantastic vocal producer, among all of his other talents. I think the way he captured Chester's voice on that song... is one of the best songs we've made, I think. I am super stoked. Here in the U.S. it's number one right now at alternative and at rock radio." "Lost" being left off of Meteora: "The icing on the cake is when we were making the album, Mike and I were in New York with Andy Wallace, a legendary engineer. He mixed Hybrid Theory. He mixed fourteen songs and we were going through, like, how to sequence them because our format was the "album", like we wanted a whole album to take you on a journey and tell a story. And so getting the sequence right and getting the elements right is an art form unto itself. We had this song and we felt like it was similar to our other song "Numb", and we really wanted "Numb" to have its own moment to shine. So let's hold this other song off of the record and maybe at some future moment it'll have its own day in the sun. And then we forgot that that song existed." Mixing "Lost": "I really wanted the multitracks. Even though the mix was beautiful, it really didn't feel like a timeless song and I wanted to give it to Manny Maroquin who mixed our recent albums, to listen to it with fresh ears." "Lost" video, Meteora visuals: "I think that the visuals that were created for this song are really special. As artists, we've always prioritized the visual landscape of our band. It was never like, "Oh now we are going to just add visuals." Mike and Joe both went to one of the best art schools in the states and are really accomplished artists. And we've able to collaborate with artists like Delta, who created that Meteora wall. When I think of Meteora, I think of stepping into a whole universe. I'm not just thinking of songs, I am thinking of a whole experience. And when I think of songs on the album, I think of their visuals. That's the first thing I think of. When I think of "Breaking the Habit", I am seeing "Breaking the Habit." Joe went to Japan at that time and collaborated with some of the most talented anime artists and created a whole visual world. And the fact he was able to revisit that for this song and put a whole new spin on it just makes total sense to me. Like it's really a beautiful, exquisite piece of art. I am really stoked on the directors that worked on that and how it turned out. It's super, super cool. I don't even know how they did it." The name 'Meteora': Brad actually Googled the Greek meteora. "These were really inspiring to us. The vastness, they feel really breathtaking. I think there is an interplay between the cliffs and the manmade element. I think it's a juxtaposition I think these images to me convey like a majestic vastness, they conjure a timelessness and they also conjure a juxtaposition of elements you don't expect. I was not fortunate enough to visit this place. When I went to Greece, I was very focused to getting to the show on time. That's the thing people don't realize about touring. I would say the exception is Germany because I spend so much time in Germany that I feel like I know Berlin pretty well, Berlin specifically because that's the place I spent the most time when I was in Germany. Most places we tour to, we would see the hotel, the venue, a restaurant and the airport at a really crazy pace. This time in our career was really a whirlwind. I am doing two hours of press today and it feels like a lot. When I was that age, they would have been like, "Okay you are going to do two hours of press before the show, because you are young and have lots of energy." So it was a whirlwind at that time, it was clear in the documentary footage on this box set. It feels like an amazing sense of being grounded and having a deeper appreciation for everything we have created and for the impact it has had and continues to have. I am really grateful." Chester's birthday: "It's obviously sad, because I miss him. Also beautiful to have an extra special day to celebrate his memory and his legacy and how much joy he brought people, and light and life that was inside of him that he shared so vulnerably." About 'Meteora': "The emotion in these songs is so clear and true that I think that's what ultimately makes it stand the test of time." The success of 'Meteora': "I think we learned as we've grown as artists, you can't control how something is going to do commercially. You have no idea how other people are going to feel about it. The only thing you can control is your own creative contribution to something. So our ethos was kind of always like, "Let's make exactly the album we want to make, that we want to listen to", and we hope that other people feel the same. Also, all 6 of us have very different musical tastes, so if we would find something we really loved, it was a really good sign." What's going on with Linkin Park: "I think we are really focused on this release. We put a lot of energy into this box set. There is a tremendous amount of music on it that people haven't heard before. I think in particular, this song "Lost" is connecting more. Someone pointed out of the recent songs we've released, "Lost" is having a bigger impact." He adds "I think the moment we are in is celebrating this album and I think with this song, it's just something special you can't predict. Even if you try to line everything up, you never know how something is going to impact people and connect."

Meteora (20th Anniversary Edition) | Out April 7, 2023

I don't think "a lot" of people are having trouble liking "Lost" - it's one of their best unreleased songs they've ever put out. It's up there with "No Roads Left" and "Across the Line" in terms of songs not making the album. "More the Victim" may end up being in this list too, let's see what the lossless stereo mix of it sounds like. "Fighting Myself" is pretty good. Brad said he personally wanted it mixed from Manny for this release. -
Maybe Wesside and Resolution are instrumentals since they are last on the tracklist. And Massive + A6 also have vocals. Not too surprising about Germany - they have done exclusive things there before... Berlin got a club show in 2012 as an exclusive intimate performance, there was a THP exclusive exhibit or store (forgot which it was) there in fall 2014, they filmed the Samsung 2014 show in Berlin, etc.

Updated the thread. Thanks martinez. Need to make you a mod so you can quickly edit stuff. The Numb clip isn't from Numb, there is no making of footage for that song that we know of, at least that has been released publicly. They didn't need to label it that, honestly/

As the Meteora 20 release gets closer, please feel free to submit news in here for us to create a thread with, or create a thread yourself.
-
They'll ship it there, they shipped one to me in the US but they didn't email us and offer it to the US fans as far as I can tell.
-
You can really tell Lost has a modern mix when you listen to Fighting Myself go into it, because the FM guitars are just bludgeoning heavy haha. The Lost 2002 mix will be cool to hear.
-
They excluded US fans from it. It was international only. In fact the first one was UK/EU only and I thought that's what the second one was too until some fans in Mexico and South America mentioned it.
-
Oops, good catch. Will fix that. So many platforms lol
-
But Phoenix is actually involved in things lol, if they are writing music, he is a part of it so it's definitely happening. The band has said multiple times since 2019 they are writing music - who knows what it's for, it could be for them personally or it turns into a release one day. There's no doubt there is music happening; Mike's comment is referring to they have no music lined up for release, no album planned, and no tour happening.

Pretty set on "holy grail" items personally now with all of the following being released: Pictureboard, She Couldn't (officially, in good quality), Stick N Move (LP), Rob's Drum Song (Healing Foot), Thoughts That Take Away My Pride (Lost), two completely unknown songs Fighting Myself and More The Victim... with more insanity coming on Meteora 20, and then all of the shows, but especially that My December and My Own Summer from 2002. Those are massive items for the community. All I'd really like to hear now after this is No Roads Left with Chester from MTM, and/or a No Roads Left rehearsal from Third Encore. That's really it. Anything else they give us is just great, like Friendly Fire, etc.

Linkin Park has released "Healing Foot", a track on Meteora|20, to fans participating in the Germany-exclusive game to collect all of the Linkin Park marbles across multiple locations. The song, which has no actual musical relation to "Broken Foot" besides the name, likely refers to the time period in which Brad Delson had a broken foot in late 2001 and early 2002. This was well into the writing sessions for the Meteora material. Right now, the song is streaming in the Marbles app for German fans. Fans were surprised, and excited, to hear that "Healing Foot" is the fan-titled "Rob Drum Song" from the Making of Meteora DVD. From just the first piano notes in the song, it is a recognizable as the track and follows Mike Shinoda's commentary on TikTok Live recently that the song would be included on Meteora|20 when he answered a question from Derek of LP Association with a link to Rob playing the track at NRG Studios. Perhaps the biggest surprise with the song is that it has full vocals by both Mike and Chester. The song features strings (likely sampled), the looping piano part, and more throughout its 3 and a half minutes. It is likely many of us thought the track would be an instrumental, especially judging by how many LPU CDs have instrumentals, so the vocals were a complete shock. What a cool track! In the "thank you" message to fans with "Healing Foot", Mike Shinoda said: "Hey, it's Mike You've done it! You've found all of the marbles. As a thank you, we wanted to give you the chance to listent to one of the "Lost Demos" from the Meteora 20th anniversary release before it comes out on April 7th, so here we go. This one is a highly anticipated track that was identified as the fan community years ago because it was in the Making Of content for Meteora and all the fans said, "Wait a minute, that's a track that is not on the album, what is that? Rob's playing drums on this thing we haven't heard." The demo never got an official name, it just had a demo name which was "Healing Foot" so you are in the rare and exclusive group that get to hear it - so here you go, "Healing Foot"!" What do you think about "Healing Foot"? EDIT: Here is the rest of the exclusive content on the app for Linkin Park fans: LIVE IN SEOUL 2003 CLIP: LYING FROM YOU LIVE IN SEOUL 2003 CLIP: FROM THE INSIDE LIVE IN MANILA 2004 CLIP: BREAKING THE HABIT LIVE IN SEOUL 2003 CLIP: NUMB LIVE IN SEOUL 2003 CLIP: FAINT LIVE IN SEOUL 2003 CLIP: SOMEWHERE I BELONG ---------------------------------------- MAKING OF CLIP: HEALING FOOT MAKING OF CLIP: LYING FROM YOU MARBLE MAKING OF CLIP: FROM THE INSIDE MARBLE MAKING OF CLIP: NUMB MARBLE [No footage of 'Numb' being created] MAKING OF CLIP: BREAKING THE HABIT MARBLE --------------------------------------- Marbles promo video

Phoenix sat down with Audacy to discuss Meteora|20, Linkin Park, and more for the upcoming box set release. He touched on topics like "Krwlng" from Reanimation, the clothes he wore at the time of the Meteora era, and more. One highlight of the interview was Phoenix addressing the future of Linkin Park and what he would like to see them do, saying: "I think the elephant in the room is the band. "Are you guys going to do anything?" The shortest answer is, I think at some point we'll do... I want to do... shows, but the reality of that is I have no idea how or when that happens, like still. So, it's not a great answer, but it's the most honest one I can have as far as that goes. But I still love music and I still love playing." He added, "I don't know, I don't think we're done as a band. I don't think we've said everything that we want to say, and the last bits of what we want to do. I think there's something on the horizon but I can't give you a timeline or timetable." Check out the full interview here.

In a move that fans were hoping would happen, Linkin Park has uploaded 4K versions of all of the Meteora music videos. These are pretty significant upgrades and provide in-depth details in the videos with improved coloring and more. You can watch all of the videos on Linkin Park's YouTube channel. Upgraded videos include Somewhere I Belong, Faint, From the Inside, Numb, and Breaking the Habit. The music video for Numb will reach 2 billion views very shortly as well!

On March 24, 2023, exactly 20 years after the original release of Meteora, Linkin Park released "Fighting Myself" from the Meteora 20 box set for fans. Originally premiered on Howard Stern in February by Mike Shinoda, the song was not released until March 24, likely due to the massive success of the first single "Lost." When discussing the song, Mike said that he had to build a chorus and the bridge/ending vocals himself from parts that Chester had recorded, but were not in the latest version of the song that existed - they were just in the multitracks. "I thought all we had was a demo and me rapping verse one and verse two and that was it, but Ryan from management found a version where Chester was singing and then we found the session of that song and I went into the multitracks and found different chorus ideas. It went from a rough sketch to a finished chorus, so now we have a full song with vocals. I remember writing it and working on it but it didn't make the cut so we just stopped working on it, so now I found the sessions for it." "Fighting Myself" is out now and features signature Mike Shinoda rapping along with a unique bridge/ending to the song and more. What do you think of the song?

Meteora (20th Anniversary Edition) | Out April 7, 2023
LPLStaff replied to BeardyWilderness's topic in Newswire
We'll get to Linkinpedia. Have been out of the country for a week getting married. -
Would not be surprised to see the songs, or a song, released next week or the week after for the promo. Lost is just doing so great that it doesn't make sense to drop another song this week, but let's see how it goes over the middle weeks of March. Lost is topping charts still.
-
He said the short version of And One has a studio recording? The version LP played live? And is it confirmed Harmonic Song is Pushing Me Away?
-
Uploaded by mistake for sure.
-
No. This is something that has never been released.
-
LPU chat in 2003. We'll see if it's on the box set. Box set will answer a lot of questions. A6 question, which song is Rob's drum track, which other songs had actual drums on them (meaning they were one of the 18 they did drums for), etc. The demos of the album songs will be fantastic. Really looking forward to it.
-
But then why does Brad say it's in A6 if it was just a joke? lol

For the Meteora|20 promotion, Linkin Park has uploaded both series of LPTVs dealing with Meteora to their YouTube. Season 1 of recording Meteora is available in an upgraded quality for the first time ever, and Season 2, which was originally released digitally in 2007, is now available officially from the band for the first time on YouTube.

Mike also has another song he produced for someone else coming out shortly too. Wow.
