Pez Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Well this song is very lyrically powerful and Mike actually makes a lot of references to things during his Verses. But these cetrin lines at the start of the second verse have got me confused. I cant work it out "Lauryn said money change a situation Big said it increase the complication Kane said don't step / I ain't the one Chuck said that uzi weigh a motherfuckin' ton" Ok well so fare ive worked out Big = Biggie Smalls - Mo Money Mo Problems?!? Kane = Kanye West - Jesus Walks?!? Im not entirely sure but maybe someone else can shead some light on this Oh and we cant forget Mikes reference to himself back in the days. "Nor the same person telling you to forfeit the game" Quote

JJJ Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I think what Mike is trying to say in this song is that people should stop complaining about the new style of LP. ie: "I am not a pattern to be followed " "Nor the same person telling you to forfeit the game" "'Cause once you got a theory of how the thing works Everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first" just my opinion Quote

When i heard this line it became clear to me. Quote
MONDREUS240 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I noticed that he also says "I am not" before a lot of the lines and in Faint he says "I am" Quote
Kramer Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 i like the lines"im not robot/ im not a monkey/ i will not dance even if the beats funky." its a little wierd but really makes a point that hes not everyones toy. he is his own man and will write what he wants. Quote

I noticed that he also says "I am not" before a lot of the lines and in Faint he says "I am"I never made that connection but that is cool. This just reasuraces what we think the song is about i like the lines"im not robot/ im not a monkey/ i will not dance even if the beats funky." its a little wierd but really makes a point that hes not everyones toy. he is his own man and will write what he wants.i completely agree Quote
Pez Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 The amount of political shit that is taking the piss out of LPs past is great! I wonder how much Mike might of ment or are we actually picking it up when he didnt really mean it. Quote

I wonder how much Mike might of ment or are we actually picking it up when he didnt really mean it.I'm pretty sure he meant it. There's too much lines that prove it. But at the same time the song has the " ATS " theme which is an apocalyptic feeling and nuclear war. it's a double meaning song IMO. Quote
leftshoe18 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I love the Jay-Z reference: "even a blueprint is a gift and a curse" and of course the Chuck D reference from the beginning of the second verse. Quote

leftshoe18 Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Ironically, I think this is gonna be one of the two tracks (along with Wretches and Kings) that "oldschool LP fans" are going to like. (Like No More Sorrow and Given Up were on MTM) Quote
Xero21 Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 This song = Mike whipping out his huge dick and slapping every mediot and/or fans who only want *tuff* music right in the face. Quote
