Oh so much OML disrespect here… its the last true LP album sorry. Its a banger and ill never stop saying it. It has more ambition than FZ will ever have

The thing with that criticism is that it feels like no matter what LP's next album sounds like, you'd say OML is still the last true LP album simply by virtue of it being the last LP album with Chester on vocals.

Am I wrong? Like is there a world for you in which their next album causes you to say "Now THIS  is a Linkin Park album"?

To be fair Justin, no your correct, of course i would say that, because it is literally true in a sense. It literally was the end of OG LP with Chester of course.

The rest is subjective, if you consider the new version “ true “ is completely up to you. Mike Shinoda doesnt get to tell you that.

Seems to be a lot of OML disrespect by virtue of FZ coming out though, seen a ridiculous comment saying that everyone is listening to LP again because of FZ, its like duh of course, they came back, thats how the tick tok generation works, they wont go back 7 months let alone 7 years, doesnt mean its better than previous stuff.

Sorry off subject but hopefully i explained well enough.

From Zero is a banger album, and rejuvenated my love for LP, while OML had kinda lost me a bit.

Just my personal 2 cents ^^

As I get older the songs make that much more sense to me. OML still Top 3 for me.

You get me.

OML is such an important album to me & it blows my mind that there’s still so much unnecessary discourse over it. FZ is also great! I think it’s possible to like both & acknowledge that there are flaws in each.

OML does seem to get unfairly maligned a lot of the time. I see it being spoken of at times as if it's just a given that of course it's their worst album, and that's not fair.

100 percent. Im biased as I love OML, but the songs are excellent, and i think the hate for it stemmed from fans expecting a different sound back in 2017. All they had to do was wait and the next album would have been different if Chester was still here.

For me OML was a bad album. Not because it has mellow pop songs (MTM anybody?), but because for the first time in their career the songs sounded generic and impersonal (despite the lyrics). Having to hire outside writers, the fact that after year and a half they had only finished 10/12 songs that in another era of the band, they would have been automatically dismissed on the early phases, makes me think the band had a creative block at that time, but after beating the bush for some time, they had to come up with something for Warner, which I suppose wasn't very happy with THP.

I know, this is just a wild guessing from my part but this is what this era sounds to me

PS: Although the tour was one of the best in many years, to be honest.

Exactly! Personally, OML is an album that came out when I was going through a tough time, add to that Chester's passing after a few months just added up to things. And although I was surprised (note: neither hated nor loved it) hearing OML at first, over the years, I view the album as a different thing altogether - a moment which just paused. The lyrics of the album were absolutely top-notch; musically - It was a different approach THAT'S IT. This wasn't something new that was expected from LP since they have always changed directions with each album. It gets way more hate than it deserves.

Furthermore, it does not at all make sense to compare FZ with OML.
