No matter what the band's feelings on this are, the press is picking up on it. My point is that this is something people will notice because it's their first tour back.

I think they’re in sort of a no-win situation as far as the press is concerned, considering the fact that they also picked up on Chester’s family’s negative reaction when Mike did mention Chester.

i think the moment LP closed the secret show is the last Chester's tribute they will do, as they have to start going forward. If during every concert they keep on mentioning it's a tribute, it's going to downplay the whole setlist. Maybe Lost is indeed the last tribute they will do. For the Intro, I do agree that it's better to do a distorted vocal, as they don't want people to compare Emily to him.

It's the same situation as how A7X plays So Far Away as tribute to the Rev every time, it might be Lost is the song that they perform for him.

Let's see how it goes at the next concert.

Nah, sorry to say but it is different from A7X. Everytime they play So Far Away it is really clear they are playing it for The Rev, the loss and respect for a fallen brother are truly present and often stated through Matt's words, in their expressions and with Rev's silhouette as background. Heck, I watched their show in May 2024 this year the crowd was still in tears, you could feel The Rev was there and felt so close to memory even 15 years later. Until now, everyone can still feel The Rev as part of the band while still respecting and completely adoring Brooks. I believe that does not downplay any of A7X's setlist or Brooks as their "new" drummer instead brings everyone closer. That is what I call moving forward gracefully while still honoring a departed bandmate. It feels warm, but with LP I am not sure what I feel. Frankly, it feels like Chester has been plucked out and he has "only" been gone for what, 7 years. Perhaps this is also why people are making a fuzz about lack of Chester's tribute and causing stronger resistance to Emily.

I strongly hope that it is simply just because people grieve differently.

Clarifying my point.

I couldn't agree more with the band.

We already had that tribute as an album, Post Traumatic, and its subsequent tour. Yes, I know that it was a Mike solo thing, but the other members grieved their own way. Grieving gets tiresome, even though you miss that person, eventually it gets to a point where you just want to move ahead and live your life. A Chester tribute at the shows doesn't let you move forward, and it's depressing. If they had waited so long to come back, it's to heal their wounds properly. Look what happened to bands like Metallica and Slipknot, the sorrow deteriorated the relationship between members.

This tour is about celebrating life, a new beginning. They're happier than they've even been in a long time. Why ruin that, even if it's just for a moment, making your new singer remember that she's filling the shoes of a dead man?

"But the fans..." It's been 7 fucking years, move on. If the closest people to him have found peace with his absence, I think we could too. Don't feed the parasocial relationship anymore.

Appropriately summed up! Couldn't have said this better man!

But what was the reference for Metallica and Spiknot btw? Didn't get the reference...

Metallica mistreated Jason Newsted, the replacement of Cliff Burton, for 14 years, as a way to cope with grief. He exit the band and Metallica almost disappeared.

In Slipknot case, Paul Gray's death, one of the key members of the band, started a progressive replacement of various members, including Joey Jordison. All of those firings were quite shady, and nowadays even the band itself acknowledge that they're not close as they used to be.

I still haven't received my vinyl, does anyone know if they mention Chester in the booklet?

I haven't received my physical CD yet, but I did get the expanded digital edition that has the 46 page digital booklet. There isn't a traditional "thank you" section.

It's photos, lyrics, and credits at the end. The only thing outside of that is the single line "We are profoundly grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. Thank you."

I don't think that it's a big deal but it sucks that they didn't mention Chester at all.

Wouldn't hurt anybody to write some words for Chester or even dedicate this album to his memory.

Definitely there's some kind of strategy to make people forget about him starting from now.

I think it's more that they don't want to be perceived as a tribute band, nor do they feel the need to keep reminding us that everything that do from this moment on is dedicated to the memory of Chester Bennington. We all know that it is and always will be.

Linkin Park is still trying to forge their own way forward with Emily and Colin as full members and just releasing the first of hopefully many albums with them. Overdoing it with Chester tributes and nostalgia for the old days runs the risk of Emily and Colin starting to be perceived as stand-ins for the real singer and drummer of LP, if that makes any sense.

So while obviously no one will ever forget Chester or erase his legacy, it's probably going to become more of a time and place thing when they choose to explicitly pay tribute to him or dedicate things to his memory.

With all that said, Mike and Emily both talked about Chester during the Zach Sang interview that was released on the same day that From Zero was released. I don't think there's a hesitation to talk about him or an effort to keep people from thinking about him in anything they do.

One of the best comments about this  situation.. yeah it's definitely difficult because some of us will always miss Chester but you got it right.

So far they are doing great at how they are handling the situation.

You explained it perfectly man.

I think that the only way that I could never forgive the band it's if they have a show on Chester's bday or during the week of his bday and they don't mention him at all.

Without Chester Linkin Park would never be what it is.

they didn't mention Chester in the Sao Paulo shows, but I think they do really subtle things like the first part of crawling where Emily does not sing and just hear the crowd. Also in their social media they post some pics and there's always something about chester, like a Brazilian flag with chester face in the middle. I think when Mike said "in the role of Chester Bennington is each one of you" it was meant to be the "final" tribute knowing from now on that we are going to 'be' Chester
