I'm agree.But it's still too long for a band name.

The former name of Red Hot Chili Peppers was "Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem", so this is not long as you think lol.

I didn't throwed the idea that they want it to be like that from the start, and there are a few reasons to do so:

 

- No more STP with Scott, they moved on.

- More attention.

- Chester didn't leaved Linkin Park, STP it's his second band.

They should have changed the band name to something like "Stone Temple Pilots without the loser who was in the band before", even just for a short while just to piss Scott off haha!

 

Or even "Brand spanking newly improved Stone Temple Pilots" heh
