hmm, idk what to think about this. On one side they say that Heavy is basically the core sound of the album, on the other side this is a mixed genre record? Both Heavy and Battle Symphony are rather poppy, so if this is really mixed genre, I hope the next song we hear (or when we finally hear the full album) will actually showcase that

To be fair, Battle Symphony and Heavy sound very different

  2. Nowhere near as bad as UIG or STB for instance.

Definitely. It's like Mark said, they hyped up the lyrics so much and it's not quite the level I expected. I think a lot of it has to do with the songwriters they brought in, it feels to me like this is the type of work they're used to do. I assume the album will have a theme of "being deep yet simple at the same time" for the most part (which there's nothing wrong with IMO).

  3. It's an interesting song, not what I expected. I enjoy it for the most part. I do like Heavy more at the moment, though. My biggest problem for now is the lyrics. After the band talked about the writing process so much I expected something a bit better than what we've heard so far.

    Show notes:

    - The band dedicated the show to all the LPL members out there. At the start of the show, Chester said: "We know a lot of our hardcore fans love two specific albums from our discography, and we play tonight's show as a thank you for their dedicated support, and for never asking us to return to our older sound. That certainly never happened".

    - Before Burn It Down, Mike said: "As we were rehearsing for this show, we realized that we didn't have nearly enough features on Living Things, so I'd like to invite our good friend Justin to perform this next song".

    - The band and Justin Bieber performed two takes of Burn It Down, as the crowd chanted "we want more!"

    - Victimized was played as a piano version since the band "knew how much their hardcore fans hate heavy songs and are glad that the band departured from that sound".

    - I'll Be Gone, Roads Untraveled, Skin To Bone and Powerless were all the studio versions of the songs played through the speakers. The band wasn't present on stage during those songs, apart from Joe that took selfies with the crowd. Mike commented: "We all know how much our fans love the studio versions of those songs, and we didn't want to ruin that with live versions".

    - To finish the show, Steve Aoki and Kiiara joined the band to perform ALTNC.

    - The band members all wore "Indie" hats throughout the performance and took time between songs to talk about their love for Pop music.

    - After the show, Brad hosted a special after party where he played the entire Recharged CD.

    - A big number of LPL members attempted to commit suicide during the show.

Well, to be fair, Mike did blast pop or whatever this kind of music is in 2014, but now he seems to have done a complete 180 on it. It's also my opinion if I think it's garbage, which I do. MTM is also my favorite album and it doesn't sound like HT, Meteora or THP much at all. I just envisioned a soft rock type album, something similar to how Iridescent sounded, that's the best way to describe the sound I was expecting. When people used to say ''full pop'' in 2014/2015, I didn't think Linkin Park would literally make this kind of music, I thought there was always going to at least be some ''Linkin Park'' flavor in it. But yeah, I see what you mean. I just think people are allowed to post how they feel about anything the band does, whether it be negative or not. The people who only like HT and Meteora are still fans just the same as the people who like this new direction, IMO.

Everyone is allowed to voice their opinions, but in an appropriate way, which a lot of people tend to forget. Not taking shots at you, or anyone else, I've just seen posts like that all over the place in the last day.

  6. You're also allowed to dislike something that Linkin Park does, which is something I think a lot of members on this site have a problem with.

What some members of this site have a problem with is the whole "this is pop garbage that Mike recorded by himself in 3 seconds, LP are such sellouts, why did they ever stop making music like HT/Meteora/THP, I'm never listening to them ever again ever" attitude. Not the fact that people dislike the song, of course you don't have to like every single thing that the band has ever recorded.

  7. And once again, it's time to be the minority on LPL.

THIS IS THE BEST SONG BY LP EVER COME AT ME!!!!!!!

But seriously, it's a very good song IMO, I really like it's vibe. It does a great job as a lead single. I like it better than BID and GATS, and I really don't think it deserves the hate it's getting. I feel like too many people judge this song based on the approach of "Pop music is garbage people make just for the money".

  8. Yeah, if they're just hearing the final album in sequence for the first time now, we're still several weeks away from hearing anything. Album may or may not be mastered yet, single may not have been chosen yet, artwork/album title/final track titles may not be decided on, promotion plans probably aren't finished yet...

I'd agree but as far as we know they already shot a music video

  9. What if they do the Beyoncé thing? Do you remember in 2013, when she released her Beyoncé album without any prior announcement or promotion? I wouldn't be surprised if Linkin Park would do the same thing. That would be a "surprise".

It would be super cool if they do that, but I highly doubt it. Beyonce is a HUGE pop artist that can release an album without prior announcement and still have it do well commercially, while LP needs to do a decent amount of promotion before they drop an album (we all saw what happened after they barely promoted THP).
