My biggest question right now is are they're going to bring back the acts setlist or not. I think they're only going to play Heavy, Good Goodbye and possibly Battle Symphony in South America, and add the rest of the OML songs they're planning to play for the European tour.
-
I'm going to be in NY about two weeks after they play there, and Blink is one of my favorite bands other than LP... This could've been my chance to see both bands live for the first time.
Still great to see they're playing stadium shows though.
-
There isn't really any chance of them playing NYC on August 21st is there?
-
Pretty sure that they don't have the balls to keep it.
True. Hardly any casuals know it.
I'll be honest, short of them bringing back Until It's Gone, I'm actually not expecting them to continue playing anything off The Hunting Party (and probably only Burn it Down from Living Things, for that matter).
I can see them playing the COG experience version. I don't think they'll bring UIG back though. They seemed to be tired of it as early as the Carnivores Tour, and it wasn't that big of a single.
EDIT: Good Goodbye and probably LITE as well confirmed.
-
It added a lot of energy to the set, though. If you ask me, Rebellion and ALITS are the songs they should keep playing from THP. FM gets boring over time, and they already dropped UIG and GATS.
Btw, am I the only one who thinks the VGA performance of COG was actually decent?
-
Brad's Drop C-tuned guitars from the last run are gone, per the guitar rig tour video, so Rebellion is out for sure.
This kind of sucks. I hoped they'll keep it in the setlist for a while. I'm pretty sure now the only THP song they'll keep playing is Final Masquerade.
-
This is the video he did with Mike:
-
Their lead singer quit the band. They aren't as big anymore.
That's not so true... California debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for a grammy. The lead single Bored to Death charted on the Hot 100. They're headlining arenas and festivals around the world. Sure, they're not as big as they were back in the early 2000's but that's the same case for LP. They're still very popular and I can't see them agreeing to be an opening band when they could easily headline the same venues themselves.
-
A co-headliner seems about right. Blink are too big to open for LP for an entire tour.

Best song from OML so far IMO. The chorus are way better than what I thought they would be, and Mike's verse is sick. I have to agree that Stormzy's verse could've been better, but I still love the feature.
-
He rapped like one line from Encore. Also Rakim was an influence on Mike already. Rakim's flow wasn't as much of a stretch as Stormzy's would be for Mike to adapt to. Listen to any Stormzy song and then imagine it being rapped with Mike's style. Maybe not the best idea lol
Exactly lol

Well, It was under our noses this whole time, and we missed it.
Mike secretly wrote the entirety of OML about hoes. All this stuff about "the most personal record we've written" is just for the media.
-
I imagine mike will do all the verses I don't see why not if mike did guilty all the same in full why they couldn't do this.
Stormzy's and Pusha's styles of rapping are fairly different than Mike's, so I'm not sure he could pull the verses off. But he did pull off Rakim's verse from GATS as you mentioned and some of Jay Z's verses from Encore, so who knows.

What else is there really to say? They made a bunch of pop songs, supposedly based on these great lyrics, that a ton of people think are garbage. The music is boring, the lyrics are shit, and it all sounds very generic.
Once you've already declared the new stuff as boring, shitty and generic you're pretty much blocking any form of discussion... But it's your opinion and I respect it.
You actually bring up a good point. I wonder if, live, they'll shorten the song to just 2 verses and include the Mike verse that got sidelined for Stormzy.
Knowing LP, I'm guessing they're only going to play Mike's verse and the chorus
-
The overarching negativity is really killing a lot of discussion here and it's sad to see. Channel negativity into something we can talk about rather than something people will read and have to feel bad about if they like the song. Don't censor yourself, but try and illicit something more than "this is ass."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
-
They wrote a song about someone being kicked out of a game.....wow...just wow. I don't think these songs could be worse if they tried.
But "crawling in my skin these wounds they will not heal", "we're building it up to bring it back down" or even our beloved "I wanna be in another place I hate when you say you don't understand" is better than this right? Besides, it's not like they wrote a song that says "hahahah you fouled out! You suck! See you next season!". It's about capturing that feeling.
-
The lyrics look way better than the ones for Battle Symphony and Heavy if you ask me, except for the chorus which is pretty much the same level. Plus, I'm very excited to hear Stormzy and Pusha on the track.
I don't think I've EVER used the term "selling out" unironically at any point in the nearly 14 years I've been part of this community, but I have to say that Linkin Park allowing a line that refers to "hoes" to appear on an album is something that meets my definition of selling out. I realize this line was already crossed with the I'll Be Gone remix, but that was a remix, after all.
Well, it's Stormzy's verse. He wrote it and that's just his style. I'm cool with it.
-
There are some great ideas here, but the only one I can see implemented is the stripped down songs. Mike talked recently about how they like to make the setlist "an experience" (I guess that means they'll have one set with acts again) and he keeps saying the "fan favorites will be played" meaning they're not going to cut on the HT/M songs.
-
I'm surprised they haven't booked up Kimmel, SNL, etc (a bunch of morning shows) to play the song.
I think they'll do that closer to the album release date.
Chester sounds great here. He really outshined Kiiara.
-
Looks like a lyric video. I hope it'll be released soonBecause they never mentioned Pusha being in the music video.

Nice to know my favourite song from Restoring Force, was worked on by Mike. Pretty strange Austin left OM&M, considering the fact that they made an album not so long ago. Does anybody know the reason why he left?
Health issues. Here's his statement
