  1. i really believe we will get album in May, i just have that gut feeling, and with these tour dates, i just believe it to be true. Album in May!

The summer is pretty possible, but May, I'm 98% positive won't happen. It's already the end of February and LP is not one to just randomly spring (no pun intended) a new album on us without some serious promo or advance word. However, the possibility of a single release in May-early June is at least over 40%.

  2. whoops this got really long

Well then, what would you suggest they do?

You brought up some valid points there. Some. But some aren't necessarily valid.

" The record is considered ground-breaking in terms of Linkin Park. Why? Because most of the songs all connect via basic synth lines (Radiance into Burning, Jornada into Waiting, Waiting into Blackout, Fallout into Catalyst)? Why, because Mike is singing on more songs?"

It's not that the songs connect, that's not actually new to LP (listen to Reanimation or Meteora). It's the fact that the songs actually don't all sound vaguely similar. It's the fact that instead of Chester and Mike singing and rapping about their feels, they're discussing subjects that are less personal, more...thoughtful. Is it masterfully executed? No. Was it one of the best albums of 2010? No. But did the songs indicate a willingness to deviate from the norm for the band? Yes.

The album is indeed the band wanting to be different, and trying to be different. It feels like an experiment. Sure, the sound can evolve naturally, and it will. But sometimes you'll want to push it, see what happens when you take yourself out of the usual situations creating the usual shit. That's called art.

You know that Reanimation wasn't entirely the work of the band, right? They didn't do anything on most of those songs. So I don't know why you're bringing Reanimation into the discussion. And in regards to the sampled speeches, the manipulations are an extension of the music and segues in the live setting. It's not like the six of them sat backstage and said "How can we shit all over these two men? Oh yeah, by messing with the speeches! Yeah let's do that!" The samples are put into a different context with a different meaning in live concerts.

I can't say anything about the segue from The Catalyst to The Messenger because honestly I hate the studio version of The Messenger and its placement isn't great. It could've been intended to be a quiet closing to the album, intended to bring one back to calmness after the peak of The Catalyst. But I don't know. I don't like The Messenger on the album at all, so I'll move on from that.

What about Empty Spaces doesn't sound right? Burning in the Skies evokes imagery of nuclear fallout. Empty Spaces illustrates an emptiness in the world following that event, and then bam, war sounds. Because that's what happens in the vague, vague series of events that you could see in the album.

When They Come for Me's flow isn't great, but it's far from the worst Mike's done. Have you listened to Hit the Floor? The Fort Minor-esque raps made their way into the album because the Linkin Park-esque raps are shit. Mike has zero emotion in any of them except for the reprise of High Voltage up until he went and did Fort Minor. It brought an intensity to the words and made you believe them more.

And finally, give me one goddamn artist that comes up with 100% original, not-influenced-by-anyone-else-ever music. You can't, because it's impossible. Every single artist in the business today is influenced by the people that came before them, and Linkin Park is no different. This isn't a Coldplay album, or a U2 album, or a NIN album. This is a Linkin Park album. And they're not going to make Hybrid Theory 3.

tl;dr I respectfully disagree so shush.

If Korn did a Korn 3, Linkin Park will do a HT3 eventually ;)

  3. My favorite thing from the ATS tour was how "Burning in the Skies" progressed, starting as part of APFMH, then on it's own, and eventually turning into a great performance by the end of the tour. I love how Chester & Mike harmonized on the verses towards the end. I hope they keep the song in the setlists, but I doubt it since it's pretty boring live.

Agreed, one of my fav live songs on the tour. Now we just need to hear Robot Boy!

  4. Yes, we're dam kidding you... whatever the hell that may entail.

Hybrid Theory is my favourite LP album, but I think A Thousand Suns is the best one. It's artistically adventurous and creates a completely unique atmosphere without sacrificing the core of Linkin Park's sound.

They're very difficult to compare really, as they're of very different genres, it's like comparing a Limp Bizkit album to a Radiohead one.

    I support this message.

  5. Messenger and Requirem- Buenos Aires 2010, they were still doing requirem live and I love that. If you don't include APFMH then definitely do the BIO / APFMH mashup from madrid 2010, or do BIO / RME, also When They Come For me Madrid 2010, epic show.

  6. So they're saying they're leaning towards the old sound again or what? As long as it isn't Dubstep.

There's no way they're gonna go back to the old stuff until they do a back to the roots type thing, and it's still too early for that. I personally see them doing more rock-ish stuff, maybe in the M2M spirit but with everything they've learned in their career, maybe like a heavier combo of M2M / ATS? I could see them doing a heavier more electronica influenced Foo Fighters type of record.

  7. They have the CDs from 5 onwards. They did a sale of a limited bundle of the 1-4 CDs last week but they sold out in a matter of minutes.

Damn, I already have 6-7, and don't really want 5 =/. Does anyone know if you still get the package with CD, t-shirt, etc. with this type of membership?

  8. Is Rob Bourdon a good drummer compared to other drummers such as Dominic Howard from Muse or Shannon Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars?

Yeah dude I love Muse to death, they're one of my all time fav bands, but Dom's nowhere NEAR in the same league as Rob, in a contest with someone like The Rev (RIP) or Mike Portnoy, Rob would actually fare pretty well.

  9. I didn't really get this one.

Is the author joking about them and is he really saying that Linkin Park was too young to play as good as other bands ? Is he saying that the only fans are 12 years young girls that are convinceable that easy that they wouldn't recognize this somehow fucked up review ?

So he is acutally saying that Linkin Park isn't perfect, uh ? And he blames them for not being perfect and doing stuff he doesn't like, even though he just could have not been going to the concert ?

Well, THAT's a nice review .. thank you Mr. or Mrs. Needham.

I think he's trying to explain that Linkin Park isn't a metal band.... because apparently we can't figure that out ourselves...

  10. Exactly what I was thinking.

Amnesiac in alot of ways is more of an "organic" Kid A. I can imagine LP's next album being like ATS, but with more traditional instruments instead of electronic music. And judging by what Phi has said in the recent chat, it seems like it will be true (saying that it could more experimental than ATS with Violins, & possibly more strings), At least thats what I'm hoping! :)

Lol he said they were using violins? I wouldn't say no to something with the ATS spirit, but I wouldn't say no to a few heavier pieces here and there!
