I would love to see some A Thousand Suns b-sides, as well as Meteora b-sides. We had a decent amount of b-sides from Hybrid Theory and Minutes to Midnight, so it's time to release some from the other albums.

The coffee scene was the best. Mike was trying so hard to get some.

If Linkin Park's 5th album went back to their old style (hip hop/rock/electronica 3 minute basic songs) how would you react?

I would be slightly upset with a move like that. The band is really excited on moving forward, so I would be confused and upset with their choice of going backwards.

That's weird. I was listening to a few pop stations today and I didn't hear anything that sounded like The Requiem, The Radiance, When They Come For Me, Blackout, Wretches And Kings, Fallout, or The Catalyst.

I would love to see In Pieces.

I Have Not Begun is decent at best. It sounds like a Fort Minor Militia track to be honest, it's catchy but at the same time forgetable. Pretend To Be is more boring than Robot Boy in my opinion. I wouldn't even give it a warm welcome if it was written for Minutes To Midnight.

Minutes To Midnight is a beautiful record. There is no filler at all. Every track has it's own identity, with a message that you can relate to. I adore it more than I ever did before.

Yeah the 100 ideas were basically seeds. Picture The Catalyst stems "Keyboard" and "Electro Drums" layered over each other. I'm guessing that lasting about 40-50 seconds would be one of their ideas of a seed.

Edit: And I don't mean that was one of their seeds, just how a seed could look.

01. Ana was freaked out about the song. It was so hard to take in for her, but since then she changed her opinion of the song and it is one of her favorites.

02. I like the newer tracklist, but The Requiem and Robot Boy should've been kept in.

03. Just because someone doesn't like Robot Boy everybody goes nuts. I like it, but it is rather bland.

I like and dislike ATS for the same reason. You need to listen to the ALBUM. You can't just single out a song (although I consider Iridescent and Blackout exceptions). And while the transitions are cool, I kinda just find them an excuse to not have more songs.

I think When They Come For Me and Wretches And kings also fit in that "you can pick these out and play them" category.

Just as many people have stated above me, I used to think it was the greatest thing ever. I thought it was perfect. A year later, I think it's rather incomplete.

Linkin Park proved that they can be creative and different. They proved that they can be as different from their old stuff as they ever were (Iridescent, The Catalyst), yet at the same time can make a track that is more than welcome on Meteora (Wretches And Kings). This album was about proving to everyone that they can make whatever they wanted to.

While this sounds pretty good, in some cases isn't. There are several songs on the album where it feels Rob is completely absent. There is alot of electronic drum work on this album that is really boring. For example, Rob really shines on this album, when he gets the chance to. His percussion work was excellent, and his drumming at the end of Iridescent and The Catalyst was amazing. Why couldn't that talent be used in several other songs? There is about 9 tracks and 3 full length songs where he isn't present at all (The Requiem, The Radiance, Empty Spaces, Jornada Del Muerto, most of Blackout, Wretches And Kings, Wisdom Justice and Love, Fallout, The Messenger).

Another problem with this album is the overhaul of interlude tracks. Empty Spaces isn't needed at all to be honest, it feels like Mike was throwing together some loops and used a portion of Brad's megaphone speech. As bad ass as Jornada Del Muerto is, I don't feel it serves a purpose in the overall concept of the album. If there was 11-12 full songs on the album, I would be really impressed. Some interludes just don't impress me and look overall lazy.

In September 2010 I would've given this album a 10/10. Now I would give it an 8/10. As good as it turned out, I knew it could've been better. It could've been much more.

Edit: I consider New Divide to be one of their best songs. They really were creative on that one. The keyboards were dark and beautiful, the lyrics were filled with imagery, and the electronic glitch breakdown and bridge were so epic, I couldn't take waiting for another album. I was disappointed to see that The Catalyst was the only track that felt more electronic, but at the same time like an emotional rock anthem.

It is probably my least favorite song on Minutes To Midnight.

Anything but cover songs and live songs, and i'll like it.

Kind of like these posts that bash fans. Wash, rinse, repeat. These people get bashed all of the time and it's getting kind of old. I guess in this situation Linkin Park fans are divided into two groups. These "intelligent, thoughtful fans" or people who are known for being moronic, without any chance of being so excited to talk to the band that they try to ask them everything that they have been thinking of all at once.

Like there's no chance in hell someone gets a laugh out of "do u liek bacon?", oh god I hope an 11 year old fan from a foreign country isn't that idiotic to ask something that he finds funny.

LP fans never know what they want. A lot of people don't like songs like Given Up, No More Sorrow and Qwerty from the MTM era because they're too heavy and in your f ace for they're liking. People don't like the slow songs from MTM and ATS, but they complain that they don't like the fast ones. People complain they want rap/rock again, so they make songs like Wretches And Kings or Bleed It Out and people still don't like that. LP fans all bitch about what they want, but in reality, I don't think they really know what they want. MTM is my favorite LP album, but I don't expect LP to make that album again, I'd rather have them make songs they want to make because I can just listen to MTM and look at pictures, etc., from that time. The band is always going to make different records until they one day stop making music, that's what I think.

Yeah Minutes To Midnight was really good. It opened up all of the doors for A Thousand Suns. That is the record where the political themes kicked in (barely), the experimentation, Mike using his voice for singing, everything about it was golden.

Hey this thread was simply stating that just because some fans aren't big fans of their latest work, doesn't make them bad music fans. I have stated earlier that I adore their last two albums and prefer them over Hybrid Theory and Meteora. I just think that if someone says "hey, bring back the old lp!" they shouldn't automatically get labeled as trolls or morons. Bleed It Out and Wretches And Kings were bad-ass songs. I am very pleased that they didn't sprinkle their latest albums with songs like that. Who's to say they can't have two or three songs on their new album in the rap/rock format, with challenging and daring structures? I'm not saying "zomg lp make 3 more songs similar to wretches n kingz because it is heavy nd i cant handle variety". What i'm saying is Linkin Park could easily bring both groups of fans together without any more arguments, while still being creative and challenging themselves.

I know some people think 2013 sounds realistic but you have to admit, there is multiple statements of the album coming out sooner than we would expect.

The lyrics on MTM and ATS aren't all ''poor-me'' lyrics like Mike has stated before. HT and Meteora are chock full of those kinds of lyrics. MTM and ATS are also more musically mature then HT and Meteora.

Yes they aren't all "poor me", but in some cases the lyrics still aren't mature.

Before anyone attempts to call me a "nu-metal fan", I think Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns are Linkin Park's best albums. Far more superior than Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

It's kind of annoying that people are attacking other fans with phrases like "LINKIN PARK AREN'T DOING HYBRID THEORY 3, THEY MATURED" and "YOU'RE JUST A DUMB NU METAL FAN, LP HAS EVOLVED!" just because fans of the band aren't digging the softer songs such as Leave Out All The Rest and Iridescent. That doesn't just make them nu metal fans. I have a friend who is obsessed with bands like Innerpartysystem, Digtalism, and even Fleetwood Mac. Just because he doesn't like A Thousand Suns, and prefers the first two albums, doesn't make him a nu metal fan. The first two bands I mentioned are electronic and the third one is a classic pop-rock band. You can already tell he has a broad music taste, or at least broader than Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, and old Linkin Park.

Alot of these fans are being laughed at by these so called "smart fans" who think that since some people like basic power chords and more simple song structures, they are stupid and don't have a good taste in music. I know thousands of people on Youtube are even saying, what if Linkin Park had a progressive nu-metal style? More songs like Wretches And Kings for example. I know fans on Youtube who think that The Catalyst was amazing but the rest of the album was dissapointing. They aren't all just idiotic nu metal fans with the IQ of 7.

In When They Come For Me, Mike didn't need to throw around a curse like that. He could've kept that line and changed "motherfucker" or at least dropped it. In Blackout, Chester randomly says "fuck it are you listening?" after the second verse. It was kind of exciting at first like he is capturing your attention, but it's really random and out of place. Wretches and Kings tosses around the word "shit" when it isn't needed. Of course the lyrics are a huge step up from "you", "pain", and stuff like that, but come on, some people are taking this mature thing a little too far.

Linkin Park is indeed maturing, but there is no need to bash fans because they don't enjoy their newer sound, and there is no need to pretend that A Thousand Suns is filled with cryptic and beautiful metaphors, because in some cases it feels like i'm listening to their first two albums. That's just my opinion on this topic.

I think it's going to happen. Everyone I know is like "lawlz lp releases albumz every three years". Remember this, the gap between Meteora and Minutes To Midnight was so big because Mike had Fort Minor. That blew up pretty big. He was doing a few concerts, music videos, TRL, you name it. Chester was really working hard on Dead By Sunrise between Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns. Same case for him. They don't have a side project right now. They've really been working hard while on tour, so I can't imagine how fast they are working now. Rick Rubin has already been announced as their producer (in fact he was a month ago), so I could imagine that they are working at a fast pace.

Those LP.com lyrics definitely are more accurate, but they're still not 100%, for example, the last line is clearly "read RHYMES and said stuff" on the recording, not "read thoughts."

It really confuses me how Linkin Park messed up their own lyrics. In The Rising Tied's booklet, Tak has two bars that are completely different from what we get on the actual song, so who knows.
