I know other genres do it but I've never heard of a band doing it. I'll give you Daughtry. Nickelback= vomit
Nickelback did Bottoms Up for rock and When We Stand Together for pop.
Bottoms up was alright, wwst gave me cancer. Linkin Park doesn't need to do the same, but I think they'd benefit a lot if they released another song before the album release that isn't as rough as GATS, so people would be willing to play it on mainstream radios (song doesn't have to be mainstream)
-
A thought occurred to me - what if GATS is like the LGM or Wretches and Kings of this cycle?
I mean, it's definitely hyping the album up, but not with "mainstream" fans. This track was directed to the hardcore fans, who are gonna freak out about it and share it. "Old LP" fans are gonna see it and like it bc they're "back". Three months out, there's already a lot of buzzing around for the new album.
April would be a great time to release a radio friendly single and do the music video and everything for that, like they did with Burn it Down. This would target the people out there who are casual LP fans, along with people who aren't technically LP fans.
- The single gets traction in April, powerhouse in May with combined Hardcore, Returning (OldLP), and mainstream/new fan audiences.
- Album releases in June to built up hype. Transformers 4 song also released to promote movie, adds to hype and sales.
Actually, they may pull TF1/WID combo and have just an album song in the movie, combining the two songs I mention.

Someone is high.
The raw Chester vocals, guitars sound similar.
I think there are some bits where they could easily be compared.
-
Few thoughts on it:
1) Definitely better with headphones than without
2) Sounds like newSTP a bit
3) As far as playing this live, if Mike won't rap Akim's part, then I could definitely see them pulling something like BIO's bridge and throw verses in to replace the original verse. I think this may be a song they play around with live.
4) Could definitely see this as either a set or encore opener to get the crowd hyped.

New Transformers Trailer:
No sign of LP, unless that intro music is part of the new single, which I doubt
Prolly not LP, but damn, I wanna see this movie so bad now

I will be seeing all of you at the following shows: West Palm Beach, Tampa, Charlotte, Bristow, Camden, Mansfield, Holmdel, Wantagh, and Darien Center. I hope Montreal and Toronto too.
PS: Add Atlanta por favor
I really hope they add a show in Atlanta - I may be moving to Legrange, which seems nearby. Tampa will likely be the other tour date I could make.
-
So we got an announcement for an announcement?
"All right guys, I'm here to tell you that we'll tell you on Thursday. Peace."
Disney's done that, they announce a convention where they announce things!!
-
You know that side stage is just the first 3 songs right?
That's what's confusing to me - what happens after the third song? they just kick you out into the rest of the place? By the time the third song's over, the only places left would be shit
-
Damn, you're going to die before you graduate!
I MEANT 2014!!!
Didn't notice that
Also, where's the source for new song?
-
I'm glad for the US fans!! I always am, cause you get the best tours, and pretty much gets to see LP every year, while we have to wait 2-3 years. Living in EU sucks
Most of us**
2008 - Pittsburgh - Couldn't go because my brother wouldn't go with me
2011 - Tampa - Classes, couldn't go because 5 hour drive
2104 - Tampa - I graduate a week before and may be moving if I have a job

IIKXIVVIXIV = 2K14614 solved. 14.06.2014.
2K = probably 2000, all the rest are roman numbers.
---
Edit: just saw your post MrCinder.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought possible date from the numerals
Also, googled Straonit and got nothing. There was a deleted twitter account, but that's pretty much it :\
Edit: Googling the numerals had produced nothing but a food blog on tumblr, unlike with Living Things
-
Station R?
Looking at the text "IIKXIVVIXIV"
IIK - I'm not sure, but the rest:
IV VI XIV - 4, 6, 14 - 4/6/14 if the source is American or from Linkin Park, 6/4/14 if not
IIK throws a wrench in the theory though
Edit: IIK - 2000?

I don't think there's much significance, but there are lines (kinda like spotlights almost?) that are moving behind the clouds on the site now. Don't remember them being there, so something may've changed

The Hunting Party could be part of a puzzle or maybe a clue for an upcoming puzzle, etc. Who knows at this point, but I think it's safe to say that the single will be called ''Guilty All The Same.''
I wonder what's gonna happen at 6:14pm tonight, either east coast or west coast time (so 9:14 eastern)
-
He said that the new single will be here last thursday = crap
I can tell that the new album or at least a single will be available in June 2014 aka 6.14. Mark my words!
I really don't think 6.14 means album release date
Living Things was released on June 26th, Burn it Down's promotional puzzle stuff wasn't until beginning of April, with a release at the end of the month. It just doesn't make sense to add another month on that gap.
My theories of what it could mean:
Track length
Sixth version of the 14th track
14th Version of the sixth track
Round 6 of them trying to finalize tracklist and The Hunting Party is in 14th place/slot
They're just messing with us
-
All these rumors are holding up the new album.
-
michalangelo - NO. PLEASE NO
I'm really liking how this update sounded. Having them just messing around and trying stuff without someone looking over their shoulder will definitely make it closer to what they want, meaning more excitement for the work and hopefully a better record than with an external producer.
I really liked Living Things, but they could definitely do better and I don't think they could do that with Rick Rubin. With the jam sessions, it's definitely possible for tracks in the vein of Wake, WTCFM, TLTGYA, etc. - where the band either blends really well or they try different things to give a song a new and more intense sound (WTCFM had all the drums, TLTGYA had its outro, Iridescent had gang vocals and shifts in roles).
As far as what I personally am hoping from this album, I want to have songs that can be like Apaches/WFTE/Wall of Sound either on the album or live. I think I've said this before, using Imagine Dragons' Night Visions/Live shows as an example, but it would be great to have a new LP album where each song is just begging to be played live because of its high energy and full sound (i.e. APFMH or the Iridescent Bridge/outro and WFTE 2012/2013, not Skin to Bone)

Realizing Sora is Geki was a bigger twist than all the M Night Shyamalan movies

I didn't realize they were playing so close to me until I saw a friend post a status about it Sunday afternoon. If I didn't have finals this week, I would've found a way to Jax to be front and center -__-

Listened to about half the CD so far. This is the worst LPU CD so far since LPU9, IMO. Way too many instrumentals and we didn't get any of the stuff we were requesting. Honestly, Primo is most likely the best demo on this CD. I also don't see the need in putting the 3 UIB demos on the CD, seems a bit like a cop out.
I think it's awesome to have all 3 UIB demos on one cd because of how the final track turned out. After reading through this thread, if they DIDN'T have all 3, people would be upset about that.
-
From their Tumblr post earlier today, PRIMO (I'll Be Gone Demo) is confirmed on the LPU XIII CD.
Description of CD's contents:
The most intimate content that LPU members have access to is the music. LINKIN PARK has been releasing EPs of unfinished songs, demos, and unreleased material since 2001 via the LPU. For the 13th year of the LPU, LINKIN PARK presents the LPU XIII CD, a collection of demos, unfinished songs and 2 additional tracks created by LPU members and produced by the band.

Actually you can take it one more step forward, if it's not like LT and LT is the previous four combination it's can't be like any of them. So it should something new/different.
Anyway it's too soon to know or guess, even he don't know what it's gonna sound like.
That's what I was meaning, LP6 won't be LT2, so I'm looking forward to a sound completely different for LP6 and LP7, and then LP8 will be a mix of the first 7 albums.
It'd be pretty neat to have an album similar to Night Visions - get some awesome live songs with LP's live rock awesomeness added. Then some other album with another style before an album combining everything together.
-
I'm hoping they pull something new again. MTM and ATS were really different from the album before them, then LT seemed a combination of all four albums. Since he said it won't sound like LT, that would knockout the album being a combo of the five albums and sounding similar.
I think it'd be awesome to do another set of two albums that reach out from their past work, then make Album 8 a blend of the past 7 albums. Hope that makes sense.
As for what I'm hoping for, I want songs that are "fill the arena" anthems. WFTE+Wall of Sound, IMR, Iridescent's ending w/ gang vocals, etc. One of my favorite albums this year was Imagine Dragons' Night Visions. I saw a live broadcast of their show and every song had all the energy you could imagine, even their lighter stuff. Even if LP did a mix of rock and light stuff, I'd be ok if it was like the blend Imagine Dragons had.

I've been trying for 3 hours now, keep having faulty internet issues, I've gotten 40% and a network error. -__-
