I guess I mean irrelevant in terms of the types of movies that are nominated for awards. This year being an exception, I'm quite sure the average box office of the nominated films has been on a steady decline since 07/09? And of course, big box office doesn't necessarily mean great quality... but there are some great movies that have done well at the box office, had universal critical acclaim, popular among the public yet they've been totally overlooked by the academy.
And the fact that Skyfall earned what, 3-5 nominations? Irks the living hell out of me (enjoyed the movie, but feel it is severely overrated).

No surprise there
Disappointed though, as I really liked that song.
Kind of off-topic: I feel like the Oscars are becoming increasingly irrelevant year on year. Anyone else agree?

Bro's GF is going to be spewing. She's over that way end of this month but is back just a few weeks before. AND, she's traveling to Melbourne with us for the Melbourne show, so travel for the band isn't out of the question for her.
Would love to be going to this but the remainder of the Aussie tour is already costing me a small fortune... plus, don't think I'll be able to get any additional leave from work
Have fun NZers!

Could you upload it?
Absolutely. Will do it when I get home from work
And here you all go

If that file expires, let me know and I'll add this to my Dropbox account instead.

I still have the half side-by-side 3D HD rip of this. Would have been awesome if they included it in the frame sequential format on the Blu-ray 3D of Dark Of The Moon though - the quality of the YouTube upload was pretty poor (needed a higher bitrate for the fast moving scenes towards the end of the video).

Hey guys,
Bit of an interesting one. 'Razors.Out' from the film that Mike Shinoda scored, 'The Raid', has been listed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a possible contender for a nomination in the category of Original Song at the Oscars:

Good job Mike! Hopefully he lands a nomination, but I'm not hopeful with THAT much competition Still, nice to be acknowledged by the Academy that he could receive a nom!

Considering how they've already done 2 promo tie-ins/"music videos" for Powerless, I think a "proper" single release would just be overkill/somewhat confusing. Most people seem to think it's already a single.
Very true, though I'd have to question how much exposure either of those got within the general public. AFAIK, both were internet-only videos that wouldn't have had much exposure in mainstream. Abe wasn't a huge hit either
It'd be very disappointing if a song like that wasn't utilised better than it has been so far
-
I can only hear those effects on the multi-angled version. It wasn't there on the standard broadcast and isn't on the version that I downloaded either. If you listen carefully, those effects are even audible on the presenter talking after the band finishes (on the multi-angle version). Shame, because the mix on this version did sound a lot better than the broadcast version.
-
My vote goes to a proper video for POWERLESS.
Though I'd also be happy with either IN MY REMAINS or I'LL BE GONE (as long as POWERLESS gets a proper single release at some point).
-
Thought it was an excellent performance of the song (except for Joe's stuff up at the beginning). I know he's said that the best part of a live show is the end (because he gets to go home after that), but goddamn! As others have said, so many stuff ups lately.
They NAILED the final chorus IMO - loved how Chester's vocals were much louder in the mix, even though the four singing was rather epic.
If you check out gametrailers.com, they are hosting the entire show in parts. Part 5 is the LP performance and it's quite easy to rip a nice quality mp4 from it when you choose the 'progressive' option, rather than 'streaming'.
-
I thought the band were really on form with that performance. Yes, would have preferred a different track to be played but it was a good rendition of BURN IT DOWN. Why no flamey flames in the first half of the song though?

Is that Dell offer still running? I have an idea.

It could be also the playback of the file, the youtube uploads of this file seem all fine to me. I had a lot of playback issues in the past with HD stuff, depending on the player. I couldn't download the 1080i file yet, so I can't tell for sure, also if the youtube playback is 100% smooth the whole time.
Good idea - will check out the YouTube version soon. Though I don't expect it to be a problem with the player/hardware - tried it on both the computer (with VLC) and also on my projector using a Samsung Blu-ray player that plays all kinds of files - looked exactly the same. Will report back tonight!
EDIT: Just watched the YouTube versions (on a different machine) and the frame rate issue is there. It's pretty minimal but definitely there. I only really notice this stuff as I do a fair bit of video conversion work. Other than that, decent rip. The audio is great
-
Where did you watch it?
I can't confirm this effect but I got only the youtube version right here. I'm not sure if TV stations can do framerate conversions in real time but that's something they shouldn't screw up usually. Mexico is a NTSC country and most likely filmed in that format.
This 1080i recording is in PAL and was probably edited by MTV UK.
Was watching the 1080i cap posted on lp-bits. You would think (and hope) that a TV station can do a correct frame rate conversion! Though the fact that this version has come from a 25fps broadcast and was shot in NTSC format leads me to believe somewhere along the line, MTV stuffed up
-
Is the frame rate issue present in all broadcast versions? You may notice that every couple of seconds the image seems to pause for a very, VERY split second (more noticeable on quick-moving crowd pan shots). This usually happens when they try converting source material from one frame rate to another (and could possibly be because it was filmed in Mexico and then broadcast elsewhere with a different frame rate) - only asking as I wasn't sure which region the 1080 rip was capped from.
SPEWING the medley wasn't in this version

Showed this to a few people last night - all positive reactions. My mum actually said 'it would have made a good movie' (I didn't tell her it was a tie-in with the game). Seemed to get a few positive reactions on my FB wall too.

Looks like not everyone is of the same opinion as us...

maybe it's rather about that war is causing an endless circle of pain, and by fighting for your country or whatever, you can cause more pain blabla
Exactly how I felt. I think the person who went 3-paragraph spastic at the video earlier might have missed this. It wasn't condoning war at all... simply making the comment that it can be a vicious cycle - representing that in the most plain and simple way.
Amazing video. Watched it several times before work, loaded the 1080p version onto my iPhone and took it with me

I just downloaded the Englewood, CO show - WTF. 20 seconds into TINFOIL, there's a scratch/static sound. It's definitely on the track as I've replayed it a number of times. I guess emailing to complain is going to be futile? Then they wonder why people don't want to pay for these things!!!
-
Thought people might want to check this out:
They suppose that's funny? Their work is weak as f*ck lately. No offence to people who like PA still.

Mikes voice is much more compressed and eq'ed on the album version. so his tone always sounds different. I like mike and chesters live voices cuz it is more natural and raw. Living things also in my opinion had a little too much over production...usually i dont feel that way about LP albums but the drums were the most produced in my opinion. Live is just better to me.
Thing is though, if you listen to the Sirius XM performance, Mike seems to be singing the songs much closer to the way he sings them on the album (ie, a regular pitch). I guess the change in pitch does make the song sound more energetic in a way... I don't really consider it better though.
Don't get me wrong... they are absolutely my favourite live act (otherwise I wouldn't have seen them as many times as I have, or plan to see them another 7 times next year )
-
Thank you for sharing!! Am I the only who doesn't like the way Mike raps in LITE live? It sounds so much different than how he does it in the studio version. Good performances, though. The band looks badass.
I think I know what you mean. I've noticed that in most of Mike's live performances. He always seems to sing the songs in a higher pitch than they are on the studio version. The only recent performance (that I've noticed) where he seems to be singing at an identical (or as close to) pitch as the studio version would be the Sirius XM performance (one of the better performances of LITE so far IMO).

the 2010's Brazilian live stream was very pathetic, hope they'll do some justice this time,if we get a live stream, any chances from South africa & Argentina?I don't think so we ever got a proshot from Australia either
Pro-shot from Australia? Have I missed something? I don't think they've ever been recorded on video in Australia? I can't answer this, but I know a lot of festivals are recorded and broadcast on Channel V here in Australia - does anyone know if Soundwave falls into that category?

I've got a 360, so does my bro and so do several of our mates who are also big fans of Linkin Park - we'll be doing our bit to get this thing released asap
As for the video - I'm predicting the band playing in a regular environment before it crumbles (shatters) away around them, leaving them in the barren wasteland you see in the making of video

Did you mean 'No Roads Left'? Because 'No Roads Left' is absolutely different to the version I have on my Minutes To Midnight tour edition CD!
This new iTunes version is kind of like the Iridescent single mix - ie, they've added in additional drums to the beginning.
Massive WTF?!
