  1. So, I very recently came across two snippets of Mike rapping over a beat and I have no idea what they are really. I'm hoping you guys can shed light on them for me.
One is titled "Linkin Park demo 2014" but in the properties it is labeled Guilty All the Same (Transformers OST) snippet. It is very short, six seconds long, and the lyrics from what I can hear go as follows:

    "Move with night (might?),
    the panic attack I like
Go(Don't?) back to the days ... (can't make out the rest)"

The second is simply labeled "Mike Shinoda 2016." It's nineteen seconds long. The quality is lower than the first but I can make the lyrics out much more clearly. It starts off with a low sounding guitar then pauses, almost like a skip. It picks up with the same guitar and Mike rapping. The lyrics go as follow:

"..like the founder of Spotify streaming premium heat
    Your wounds need cauterized
Right in front in front of every fickle fan that you're followed by
Like black hat and hackers you'll be looking for compromise..."

So, yeah. That's that. I would love to be enlightened on these if you guys know. If it's not against the rules I'll share the audio or I can give it to the staff.

I have converted the original XERO  audition tape in GREAT quality. I took the song down from Soundcloud  out of respect to the release.  Siri now recognizes a song on the demo I have had for 20 years ( Pictureboard )... the others are clear to post, I assume. I have the video they requested for the audition process (at least one band member has confirmed they went through  the same process per Mark T) The audio tape is in perfect condition and plays well, the handwriting  of "Xero" is most certainly Mike's. I have versions of the tunes when the rapping was the focus of the tune and the singing was the refrain or hook only..... I have my tracking vocals with the audition tape,  as well as my demo that got me a Next Day Air Fedex package from Jeff Blue, with lyrics, this demo and the other studio tracks partially finished along with Mike's 4-track ideas

I was going to do a full interview with Mark Terrell ( the admin / founder of this page) but he stopped responding to texts after a preliminary interview, during the week of the  the 20yr release ( not sure why? ) I never attempted to leak or detract from any of these tracks, I had NO idea that there was so much interest around this tune..... The original XERO tape was in a case, in my closet for years,  the song on Soundcloud was there to substantiate a one-off crazy story .....There is a good story here if you are interested as fans and the true history of something you may not be aware of...... TJ

I agree with everyone else. I would love to hear the whole story and these songs. I also hope you get to finish the interview. This is all so fascinating.

  3. It very much sounds like the opening of Could Have Been to me lol but you do make sense on the variation Phoenix does. I guess we do need to ask Mike on stream for definitive answer.
Chester said he remembers singing on it and Mike said it dates to '97 (though he sounds slightly uncertain in the above clip). So, if it is an unheard song from '97 then there might be two different versions of it. One with Chester on vocals and one with Mark. Or, as Mike said, it didn't get pass the demo stage. Mark may never of recorded on it then and they could of tried bringing back once Chester joined only to again scrap it.

I'm in a tough situation where I can't actively watch Mike's streams so I hope someone gets to ask him about this. I have other questions I'd love to ask Mike but I guess I'll have to hold off a bit.

A lot of people have already said what I want to see as the next "holy grail" but I'll throw in my two cents. I want some more unreleased material and demos from Meteora and Minutes to Midnight. I'm also curious about Ricochet and another song I saw on BMI titled I'm Not The One. That's something i never heard of before.

It is the instrumental of the Zomba sampler version on HT20, which is the same one that leaked last year, yes.

The 3 tracks on the audition tape are Esaul, Rhinestone, and Pictureboard. It does not have 4 tracks.

Wait, I have not been keeping up on my LP news. Rhinestone from the audition tape? When did this happen?
