Oh this one would be sick! That UIB to WFTE transition would be awesome. I love how ppl are still doing these

Paper Edges? Link? And yes I said bridge earlier to serves as a great landing to point to next 20th

I call it Paper Edges because it starts with Papercut and ends with Sharp Edges lol I guess an additional perk to QWERTY joining Spotify is that it will bring the 3 missing tracks you have to upload yourself down to 2 on this playlist 😂

I always had my suspicious that the Berlin 14 DVD was scrapped because maybe the album cycle wasn't being as well received as it expected.

I didn’t even know we were gonna get a Berlin 14 DVD! I found it weird that the Austrian THP DVD included a set from 2012

Here's the deal: LP has two main audiences. The hardcore fans, aka: lurkers of this page, and casual fans.

The boxsets were meant for us, even the success of Lost was totally unexpected.

But now isn't the time for us, is for the casual fans who haven't heard of Qwerty. Yes, there are people who in 18 years haven't had the time, the occurrence or whatever it is, to discover the song. You have the right to feel disappointed, but this isn't meant for us.

I agree with this. I made a mix I call “Paper Edges” and it includes one song from every album/era, as well some that fall in between, as a sort of starter mix for my friends who were more casual fans and wanted to hear more. I think that QWERTY is quintessential for a mix like that as it bridges the gap between 2 of their most popular eras (Meteora & MTM).

i have to admit though i do wish they could squeeze a THP track (there’s a solid 4 different tracks that come to mind), but i also understand why they’re not included.

  4. It’s so interesting seeing this discussion devolve into the THP “snub.” A few years ago i started a thread about what my Greatest Hits CD would look like, and i was actually hung up on including at least one track from every album. I actually made a poll for ppl to vote for which should get the final spot based on what they felt was most well-known to non-LP fans, and it was out of like Papercut, LOTR, and a few others. A lot of the responses i was getting in the thread was ppl saying that they would cut THP completely in place of some of the other songs.

  5. You guys just aren’t getting it. All of this is a big performance art piece. It’s a metaphor for conservation in a time of late stage capitalism, and mankind’s tendency to waste resources even in the face of impending doom. Mike is recycling over and over again, and showing us that this plastic water bottle can still be a water bottle, even broken down and reused 40 times over

I totally agree with New Divide, GATS and all the Monterrey tracks, but I feel like there are many more recordings of WFTE that are better, although idk if they wouldn't have the intros/outros

Can't wait for THP 20th so we can get a few live recordings of those songs on streaming, especially GATS and Wastelands

Thank you! And yeah you’re absolutely right about there being better WFTE performances out there, but they only started doing the RTN intro in the last leg of the 2017 tour. I love the way they actually mash-up the instrumental elements of both songs, so that’s what makes it top 10 to me. We don’t have any SBD or official audio of WFTE from any of those shows, and there are only 3 Pro-Shot renditions in existence. Of those 3 I think Southside/Milan has slightly better audio quality, but my opinion is that not only is Chester’s vocal performance the best in Belgium out of the 3, the crowd’s massive participation makes it even more epic to me, so that’s why i ended up choosing that and COG from that show. If we ever get higher quality versions of either of those versions of those songs ima def switch them out.

Also totally agree about THP! I can’t believe it’s about to be 10 years

  7. By far the most talented musicians Mike has ever performed with in his solo career. That bass line was insane. Pianist crazy talented. Guitarist and drums too. Everyone went tf off. RTN was dope too

I'm assuming In my head wasn't released just to keep consistent with the other sessions? So people don't start uproaring why aren't the LP songs released as well.  I assume that in general would have more to do with some personal decision rather than not being allowed to unless someone in the band personally asked him not to do, because I don't see how there could be a copyright issue (considering mike co-wrote those songs, and how copyright works for live performances/covers).

On another topic, I know I'm super late to the session's discussion overall, but I think it would be really fun if Mike went on tour again with a group of sessionist musicians, it would give a lot of range to make fun varied setlist from his catalog to play. Considering how hard it would be to find all LP members without other projects going on, and how limited they would be to play songs without Chester, unless they had a new album to bolster the setlists with it would be the way to have these songs live, besides a tribute band. Also, that would open the chance for other LP members to show up as guests on specific dates according to their availability and to spice things up.

    Agreed!

I don't know if someone said it already somewhere but the next Session will be Tokyo. A japanese comedian/YouTube pranked Mike during the recording and posted it online with all the musicians revealed and the extra song.
