LPLStaff Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Blank Mag has interviewed Alec Puro about his work with Linkin Park, and he specifically mentions working with Rob and Chester in the past as well as detailing his work on Unshatter. "Years later, Bourdon asked him to help the band score Mall, which Hahn had directed. At first, Puro went to their weekly band meetings and teed things up so they could do it themselves. Then they left for three weeks in Australia and asked him to lay the groundwork, and it became a true collaboration. "Anytime I get to go back to the band feeling of things, because that's really just where my roots are, it's just so fun." Shinoda later passed him a docuseries, and he and Hahn scored Blade of the 47 Ronin together. "When you're in a band at that level, you really do have to trust the people you're working with," he says. "There is that inner circle." All of which is to say that the credits aren't really the main point. Rather, it's the trust behind them. There’s one particular day that will always stay with Puro. Bennington brought his son to the studio, who was interested in scoring, and when his son left, he stayed. "He spent the day with me, just me and him," Puro says. Bennington put vocals on one cue. "He would do that signature Chester scream just over and over, like it didn't hurt his voice. I feel super fortunate and lucky to have worked with him like that one-on-one."" About the Unshatter score: "A good score, for him, belongs to someone else, "you're there to serve a bigger vision. It's not about you," he says. "Once the music leaves my studio, it's really not mine anymore." When Hahn approached him about Unshatter, he didn't hesitate, though he hadn't realised how heavy the story would be. He admires the way the band rebuilt, "rather than trying to replace Chester," and remembers meeting Emily Armstrong at the mix: "You're like, 'Ah, that person's a total star.'" He describes his score as "very Brian Eno ethereal," adding, "It's stuff I love doing." For him, the film is "super sad, but at the same time, not sad, because second chances, not a lot of people get that." Read the full interview here. Quote

LPLStaff Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 Yes, thought the same. Has it ever been confirmed anywhere Alec recorded drums on White Noise @Astat? Can't find the THP trailer that has White Noise in it. This article says Mall was being worked on in 2013, which we knew, but White Noise was definitely around then and in the THP sessions. But Rob has no credit on it. More importantly, Rob has no credit on the other full songs from the era which, even if they are Mike demos, they usually always credit the full band on release. Hypothesis is that Rob did actually record on White Noise and was obviously in the sessions for the other songs like Ammosick but he and Brad just aren't credited on Mall (for whatever reason; we've really never been given context on that).
