bloodbath Posted May 22 Posted May 22 For sure, the next LP album can't be a FZ Part 2. I appreciate the comfort sound and going back to what they're known for, but LP has never stagnated. I hate when a band stops innovating after 15+ years and stuck with certain style for the rest of their career. Quote

FZ could be a double album or sister album? what do you think? same as Hybrid Theory + Meteora, both sister albums. FZ + LP9 could be the same. Quote

I hate when a band stops innovating after 15+ years and stuck with certain style for the rest of their career. I think people are exaggerating when they say that LP went safe or took a comfortable path with FZ. I mean it's true that given the fact that the lineup had changed and they were coming back after a long time they wanted to give to the audience something that could be easily identified with LP. That's true for some of the songs, especially the singles, but not all songs. Linkin Park is not exactly known to the general public for type of songs like cut the bridge, overflow, stained, good things go and over each other. Sure some of these have elements that may take inspiration from past albums but the overall result imo feels like something new. At the end exploring more and innovating more is always fun and all but LP already explored and combined so many genres that it's not that easy to continue to do so in a commercially viable way. Maybe next album will be more focused on a specific genre instead of being so heterogeneous like FZ. I mean if LP stuck with the FZ style what kind of style even is that? Anyway I think that the bonus tracks Unshatter and Let You Fade made it clear that the band is not running out of ideas for the future Quote
ChaseChief Posted May 22 Posted May 22 (edited) I won’t mind LP9 to have full of tracks like Its Goin Down or WTCFM Edited May 22 by ChaseChief Typo Quote
Shifter Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Thanks for the interesting interview and facts, the situation is a bit unusual, like a brothel. Quote
YRQRM0 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I feel like a big rap track like WTCFM or IOU is a given for the next album, but other than that I’ve honestly got no predictions. Probably a super soft track thrown in? I feel like Overflow and Already Over Nothings There kinda came from the same place, and that there must be more material of that style sitting around. I’d personally love a lot more atmospheric stuff like that on LP9 I also want the ideas explored during LT to come back like Three Band Terror or Animals Quote

Both HITC and LYF had quieter version. So next album I can definitely see that happening. Quote
zerothree Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Maybe it's public knowledge but I don't think I knew that Timbaland was asked to do a remix for Reanimation. Even though Mike didn't vibe it for the record I'd be curious to know what it sounded like. Timbo's production would've been a bit less dark than what the rest of the record ended up like. Quote
LPLStaff Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 First we've heard that too - interesting. No telling what unreleased Reanimation stuff exists out there. That would have been a cool feature for the Hybrid Theory 20 box set. Quote
