LPLStaff Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Linkin Park has confirmed their appearance on May 31, 2025 at Munich, Germany's UEFA Champions League soccer/football kickoff show. Rumors had the band performing at halftime, but it appears they will perform before the show. The press release says that they will perform new and old songs, as well as a new remix that includes Numb that they created. Mike says, "When we first thought about the track that we made for this event ... it’s really all about the football. We had a bunch of references of past musicians, producers and artists who have made things which are special for a sport, so we wanted to take that inspiration and put our spin on it and do something made from the sounds of football. So, the track that we made is essentially the sounds of football, done in a LINKIN PARK way. All the things that it’s built on are sounds of the foot hitting the ball, the sound of the ball hitting the net, the sounds of the fans stomping in the seats. These were the things that when we’ve been to football matches, struck us as being the powerful musical elements when being there." The performance will come between the North American leg 1 and European leg of the From Zero World Tour this summer. Quote

LeonardoMF93 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I want to know what this track is. Will it just be an instrumental? We have the audio from the video, but what will the full version be like? As for the performance, this is huge. It's the biggest performance in the band's history. I also want to know if Brad will be there. But he is not in the promo, so I think he won’t. Quote
LPLStaff Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 It's definitely weird to see Linkin Park without 6 people no matter what the situation is. We will have to get used to this over time. It's odd Brad didn't participate in it since this is a studio remix. But they may have filmed it in Europe in November and he was not there. Very unlikely he plays the show itself, he doesn't seem to like the travel aspect of touring. Quote
Superxer0 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 What we getting a remix of numb when is it coming out Quote

I was shocked when i watched Birmingham 2017 it was so weird to see the og Linkin Park together for the very last time. Quote

JZLP-Benningstrong Posted April 16 Posted April 16 (edited) I don't think that they are actually doing a full remix of Numb based on this quote I think that they did a theme song for the event. "To celebrate the collaboration with UEFA for the Kick Off Show, the band recorded an electrifying remix and short film that blends their unique sound with the culture of European football. The track incorporates the recognizable riffs of their platinum hit “Numb” with sounds inspired by UEFA Champions League football - “the strike of leather, the whistle of a free kick, the sounds of the most passionate fans in the world" https://www.goal.com/en-za/news/iconic-band-linkin-park-set-to-headline-uefa-champions-league-final-kick-off-show-at-munich-football-arena/blt533d8e255d0232ae Edited April 16 by JZLP-Benningstrong Quote
LeonardoMF93 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I think it’s not very clear what this remix is, but I believe it must be an instrumental version that will be used commercially during the Champions League and might include some parts of the instrumental from Numb. A more traditional remix (with vocals, for example) wouldn’t make sense because it would either have to use Chester’s voice or re-record vocals with Emily and both options are terrible. 43 minutes ago, Sabi said: They definitely filmed it recently; you can tell by Mike's longer hair. Exactly! Perfect observation! Quote

MMM Posted April 16 Posted April 16 (edited) LP after the return is so big, that they could record a song for the 2026 World Cup. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that happen XD Edited April 16 by MMM Quote

Luki98 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 @bloodbathThe show starts before the match and is accompanied by a pyrotechnics show. It lasts about 10 minutes. Quote

Lenny Kravitz's show last year lasted only six minutes and included just three songs. We should expect something very similar for Linkin Park. They’ll probably play for a maximum of ten minutes and perform three songs. In my opinion, they’re likely to play The Emptiness Machine and Numb, as the first is their current hit and the second is the biggest hit of their career, besides being the one promoted by UEFA. If there’s time for one more, it’ll probably be In The End. Quote
YRQRM0 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Numb, TEM and ITE seem likely, though maybe UFTB instead of TEM? As great as TEM is, I feel like it's kinda weak live. Mike is a great vocalist these days but his first verse doesn't have a ton of energy live. I kinda feel like they need a song from the new era that is built for a live setting, something super "sing-along" like Bleed It Out or ITE Quote
