From Zero A Cappellas - January 24th

Recommended Posts

Linkin Park has officially announced that they will be releasing From Zero a cappellas on Friday, January 24 on digital streaming platforms. So far, there is no word on the release of any instrumentals.

This will be the first a cappella release by Linkin Park since they put out the a cappellas and instrumentals from The Hunting Party on August 12, 2014. No release was done for One More Light as the entire era was cut short.

I hate the inconsistency of the instrumental and acapella versions of the albums.

Some albums have none other have instrumentals, some both and then this only has acappella.

They should fix everything, atleast for the main albums.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to these. The Hunting Party had both acapellas and instrumentals released, One More Light had nothing, Papercuts had instrumentals only, and From Zero has acapellas (at least first).

I wonder who's the mastermind behind this huge mess lol

I expected Aca+Ins for both HT20 and M20, a digital download  would have been nice.

Please, stick to the idea of a digital-only release. I can't take spending money on From Zero anymore. 🫠

These kind of releases are too hardcore-fan oriented to not be profitable enough. So I wouldn't worry hahahaha. BTW, how much did you spend? I just bought the Digipack, a t-shirt and the emptiness machine single. Can think anything else beside some vinyls

Living Things also had both acapellas and instrumentals officially released!

Likely different purposes across different releases.

Realistically, anything released as an acapella is done so with the intent that it be available to remixers/producers/DJs to make music content, since acapellas have little commercial or musical appeal to a regular listening audience. Living Things has this, Hunting Party has this, One More Light can't be judged because the whole OML campaign was tragically cut short only a few weeks in, and now From Zero has this. So, other than the unforeseen circumstances of the OML cycle, this has been consistent across studio album cycles from 2012 to present.

Papercuts feels like a very different thing with a different purpose that's completely unique. It's presumably actually aimed at the wider listening public - it's their biggest classic hits, released officially for the first time as an instrumental listening experience for Joe Public, and they went to the effort of having a brand new (re)mastering job done for the instrumental album which is an unusual level of effort to go to for 'just' an instrumental release. I think it's fair to conclude it's much more of a purposeful musical release for the wider listening public to be enjoyed from start to finish as an album and remastered to best reflect this - not just a nice bonus add-on for remixers.

It remains to be seen if From Zero will also get an instrumental release to accompany the acapellas (Emptiness Machine had an official instrumental on the CD single, so it's more than possible), but other than that oddity, so far I think it's a little more cohesive across the studio albums from 2012-2025 than it might initially seem on the surface.

Obviously just my speculative opinion!

Thank you for reminding me that this should never be released outside digital platforms. 🤣

As for the album itself, so far I’ve bought two vinyl records, one CD, two cassettes, and three CDs single. You can see here.

Now, if we’re considering clothing items like you mentioned, I’m not exactly sure because I bought a lot of FZ stuff at last year’s shows. 😅

Below is what I bought specifically at the shows you can see here.

As I didn’t know if could add the images directly here in the thread, I added them in links.

Now, answering your question: About the amount, I honestly don’t know. I’m a little scared to find out. 😅 Maybe more than 400 USD? I think so…

Seriously impressive, I'm not much as a hardcore collector as you. Once I have something in one format (specially CDs) I don't buy it again. Is there something that you don't have yet?

@LeonardoMF93 what a nice collection, man! you're so lucky to be able to go in all those concerts, being a brazillian.

I would say you're missing the special edition tanktop made with WASports. It's fucking beautiful.

I didn’t buy this model because I’m not a big fan of basketball jerseys.

I’m very grateful for that, my friend. Now, you also go on some adventures out there, my companion from the Bogotá show.

About the From Zero versions, I think I have everything I want. I bought three more vinyls but they had a problem at the post office, so I shouldn't try to buy anything else.

Overall, I have pretty much everything I want. I have all the main albums, all the CD singles and most of the LPU CDs. Now I'm just buying what's missing, such as vinyls and cassettes. You can see my full collection here (without the shirts) but the photo is outdated since I bought some singles, LPU CDs, vinyls, HT20 and Meteora20 since then.

Now, I'm far from being one of the biggest collectors. There are many people with much more stuff than me.

I dont think that DJ's are searching for instrumentals and acapellas on Spotify.

Actually, I already bought it and completely forgot. 😅 This version isn't available in Brazil, even though we have an Amazon here. So, I had it sent to a friend's house in Canada and I'll pick it up from her in September when I meet up with her to go to the North American shows. Thanks for reminding me about this CD! 😅

guess what? blaming warner is easy when LP is doing crap like this since 2017 lol

I love both instrumentals and a cappellas. I'm not a music expert nor I am a very sharp listener so I always miss details that I can discover and appreciate with these versions. If they are going to release just a cappellas for FZ it's because of the Emily Armstrong effect. There's a lot of scrutiny on Emily so LP wants to showcase her performance and there's also a lot of Mike singing which is cool. Also it has to be said that in the past a cappellas versions were more successful than the instrumental ones (at least that's the case for living things and the hunting party on Spotify)

I don't identity items, what are they?

The Big black box at the left of THP vinyl

The black CD at the left of the Twilight OST

The DVD case at the right of the Frat Party DVD

the black CD seems like the Hybrid theory EP and the DVD is the live in new york, a non-oficial dvd
