SouthernGirlAM Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 *Update* Hey guys and gals...just a heads up... If you get an PM in your inbox with a link to "New Forum Rules," DO NOT CLICK IT. It appears to just be a spam link, NOT A VIRUS. However, even though this link appears not to be a virus, it's always good policy not to click on any links in any email or private message that appears to be suspicious. Any major site update, rule change, etc. will be posted in The Newswire. And if you ever receive any other PMs that look suspicious in the future, please report that to the staff ASAP. Thanks! Quote
Antje Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Ha, nice... I received this "rules message" and I used the link...and ..... a "Viagra" site.... I was a bit "irritated"....and now I have seen this info here... to late...!!!! Hope it isn't a virus.... Quote
hahninator Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 On behalf of the staff I sincerely apologize for this happening. We had no control over it - obviously some douchebag registered and sent it out in a PM, it's probably a virus so don't click it. Sorry for that happening. It's hard for us to control but I'll see what I can do about it. Quote
SouthernGirlAM Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Here's what needs to happen... If you receive a PM that looks suspicious, please PM me and let me know. Forward the message to me along with the user's name and the site staff will resolve it. Thanks for your assistance on this matter and again, we apologize for the inconvenience. Quote
DaweLP1 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 aww shit i hate viruse can it damge my computer ?? i have 1 PM but i will never open it im really afraid of viruses lol Quote
SergSlim Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Does not seem to be any kind of virus. Anyway I clicked it, and just got a Viagra site. Kaspersky Antivirus didn't tell me anything about virus/trojan or phishing site. So, it looks to be an ordinary spam link. Quote
wiiesel Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ...because the virus stops Kaspersky telling you anything ;-P I think every member got one ^^ I deleted it unread! Quote
linkinmetalfanatic Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 im smart, i know only a core staff member would be sending PMs around to people about changing rules and stuff .. and there would be no additions to the core staff without posting on the main page anyway i wouldnt think Quote
