Coizu Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Chester tweeted this yesterday. I am totally confused what that means. Which entity has a control over what songs LP is able to play live? Maybe someone with more understanding than me can shed some light on this statement? Or maybe I am misinterpreting something here. Quote
Coizu Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 uhhh.... how is UIG political? Political reasons don't mean the song has anything to do with politics... Quote
Justin Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 uhhh.... how is UIG political? He probably meant politics within the industry. My first thought is the label, but that raises a few questions in and of itself. Can WB force the band to add or drop songs from their set? Even if they COULD, why would they want LP to drop a single from the album that they were touring in support of? It's just a strange and intriguing comment by Chester that I would like some elaboration on. Quote
GlassCastles Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 I wonder if it has anything to do with Transformers? I have no idea what he could mean here. Quote
HybridParty Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Political reasons don't mean the song has anything to do with politics... Yeah you're right, Chester's comment just confused me Quote
Astat Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Look at the context, this wasn't in reference to the live set whatsoever, it was about UIG being dropped from the Transformers 4 soundtrack: https://twitter.com/ChesterBe/status/867773573993078784 Quote
Kilmer Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Look at the context, this wasn't in reference to the live set whatsoever, it was about UIG being dropped from the Transformers 4 soundtrack: https://twitter.com/ChesterBe/status/867773573993078784 That could be true, but LPLive only used the word "dropped" to talk about the live set, so it seems he was talking about it too Quote
Astat Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Otherwise, I could potentially see there maybe being a legal dispute between Cinderella and Linkin Park over the lyrics to UIG that was never publicized? "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" was that band's biggest hit, after all. Quote
sotrix Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 My interpretation of that comment is that behind the scenes politics kept the song off the Transformers soundtrack. Quote
Coizu Posted May 27, 2017 Author Posted May 27, 2017 In the Transformers context it makes much more sense. You guys are probably right. Still kinda interesting. Quote
