LPForAll I think that they've deleted the official bootlegs store after LPU15 update, but I'm not sure Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/12076-official-bootlegs-gone/#findComment-260717 Share on other sites
LPForAll
Strange. That would be a huge step backwards... hahninator
Then they are free to share here if they are no longer available to purchase. But before we make that official, let me email Lorenzo and make sure they aren't planning on relaunching it or something. iPodwithnomusic
What are "Official bootlegs"? Are these the pro shots of each show they recorded? iPodwithnomusic
http://lplive.net/wiki/db/releases/digital-souvenir-packages Oh wow I had no idea about these, I would buy some of those 2011 / 2012 ones in a heartbeat! LPForAll
If it would be allowed to share them I would help with the upload, too. I have quite a lot. Guess I'm missing 12 shows or something. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/12076-official-bootlegs-gone/#findComment-260748 Share on other sites
hahninator
I have all 229 of them but I do think about 2-3 of my very early PR07 ones (between Auburn and Mountain View), so like Marysville and San Bernardino or something aren't tagged correctly. Someone messed with the tags before they shared them. Maybe someone has the original ones. No response from Lorenzo yet. LPForAll
I can check the taging of my shows. I have all the early shows but maybe we got them from the same source. I guess that would be very possible. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/12076-official-bootlegs-gone/#findComment-260755 Share on other sites
hahninator
Demonoid was the main source for literally 99% of the 2007-2009 ones so it's likely we have the same ones. However, it's also really easy to retag it properly with the correct tags. Just 7/28/2007 is the one that's not right for me but I can fix it. LPForAll
So let's wait for the response. I still hope that they will bring the site back one day. It is interesting that a band like Metallica is able to run a bootleg shop for over a decade and they even have started selling CDs now... hahninator
I think the band (or Blackened Records, their label the band started) absorbs a lot of the costs on that. They have a lot of money to throw around. Linkin Park does too, but they don't seem willing to front the cost for some of it. LP could MAKE money on the DSPs if they really wanted to, simply by advertising. They have the ability to promote it on the screens at shows, and they have the RARE ability to reach all of their millions of Facebook followers with every post they make (something Mike revealed in that leaked Google Glass video). Metallica does a great job with theirs, in fact the CDs they ship for shows now look REALLY good. $11.99 for a CD, how much can they really make on that? FLAC for $6.49 and mp3 for $4.99. They seem to be doing it for the fans, not to make money. And they even give shows away for free. LPForAll
You are right. I think Linkin Park could do a little bit more for their fans. I mean look what the fans are doing for them! I do not know any band who got a better fan site than LPLive. SFNL14
If them being gone means they are legal to share, does this apply to other LPU releases too? For example Lockjaw, Morning After (Acoustic) etc. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/12076-official-bootlegs-gone/#findComment-260780 Share on other sites
LPForAll
I don't think so. These shows have not been released for LPU. Official bootlegs have been released for everyone. SFNL14
IMO if its a matter of availability, then they should be allowed, and if its about exclusivity, then not. lpliveusername
Can Morning After and Lockjaw be gotten anywhere? If they can't, I think they should be allowed. No. If I remember right, they posted a RapidShare link for Lockjaw, so after a few downloads even LPU members couldn't get it anymore. hahninator
Anything that can't be obtained on the LPU site currently like Lockjaw is fine to post here. Edit: http://lplive.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12078New thread for the sharing discussion, since I got an answer today.
