hahninator
A website called WOLVERINEKILLS has posted a second time about Linkin Park being rumored to headline Mayhem Festival this summer. The rumor originally appeared back on January 9th in a post by them claiming that Linkin Park or Slipknot would headline Mayhem Festival 2015. On January 26th, Slipknot announced they were headlining their own "Summer's Last Stand" tour with Lamb Of God, Bullet For My Valentine, and Motionless In White. For those who aren't familiar, Mayhem is a traveling "festival" tour, very similar to what LP used to do with Projekt Revolution. However, the lineup for Mayhem tends to lean with heavy rock/metal bands. 2014's bill included Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Asking Alexandria, and Trivium among others. Even though we aren't very familiar with this website, they admittedly do have a bit of credibility for being the first website to (boldly) leak the identity of the new Slipknot drummer back in April 2014. The website is claiming that Linkin Park is the most heavily rumored band to headline Mayhem this summer, and they claim also that a summer tour by Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson will take place as well. For Mayhem, their rumored lineup includes Linkin Park, Battlecross, Periphery, Thy Art Is Murder, and Glass Cloud. The rest of their post speculates on what other bands could join Mayhem with LP, like Slayer or Deftones. Some things in support of this rumor.... they have the credibility with the Slipknot drummer and are really pushing the rumor of LP being on Mayhem, LP could easily bring large crowds to summer amphitheaters with a rock lineup, and this could serve as their "makeup" tour for the canceled winter tour. They also played a "sponsored" tour in 2012 with Honda for the Honda Civic Tour. Finally, Linkin Park is only announcing "B" cities again for these summer festivals in May/June and NOT any major cities on touring circuits. And some things against this rumor.... Mayhem stereotypically isn't a festival you'd think LP would be on (obviously), and the band claimed in interviews on the European Tour that the THP North American Tour would be their "last" tour in North America for the album. We have heard zero information about the band's plans for the summer (besides the rumor that they will NOT return to Asia in 2015), but it's worth a discussion at least. With Linkin Park dropping songs from The Hunting Party earlier this month from the live setlist, perhaps they are moving on from touring in support of this album, and a North American Tour playing their biggest songs will guaranteed bring pretty large crowds. And an idea from way out in left field...they could even hit a home run with the tour and perform an album start-to-finish if they wanted to be one of the largest tours of 2015. What do you think? shadowofthehabit92
This would be good in terms of there being a "make up" tour for the cancellation of the Winter tour. I just looked at Mayhem's website and there were 28 dates from last year's tour This would make up the 16 dates that were cancelled plus 12 extra. I would find it a little weird with LP playing since this tour has leaned towards artists such as Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, etc. However something like this would fit in with the whole "aggressiveness/heaviness" of this album cycle. xLinkinpark0562x
If LP were to play this tour, they'd need to play rock songs, hard Rock ones, which range from HT, Meteora, MTM, THP. No slow songs and no dances or dub step Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11569-mayhem-festival-tour-rumor/#findComment-245395 Share on other sites

LPFreak64
They would definetly have to bring in the HT, Meteora, and heavy THP stuff to win over the Mayhem fans. However, I could see LP being very comfortable doing the other more 'Rock/Alt Rock' oriented festival that Rockstar sponsers, which is the Uproar Tour. Past headliners for it include Disturbed, A7X, Stone Sour, Three Days Grace, Seether, Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, & Alice in Chains Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11569-mayhem-festival-tour-rumor/#findComment-245402 Share on other sites
HyruleKing
It would be the perfect occasion for playing THP in full, or at leat bringing back some heavy jams like No More Sorrow or even QWERTY. With this set, that crowd will be very bored. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11569-mayhem-festival-tour-rumor/#findComment-245406 Share on other sites
FORTsunrise
They'd be better off doing Uproar Tour instead of Mayhem. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11569-mayhem-festival-tour-rumor/#findComment-245414 Share on other sites
abrandnewname
As much as I would love Linkin Park to do Mayhem this year, I really don't see it happening. I've been to Mayhem twice, last year was my latest. Like mentioned already, they'd be better off for Uproar. If they do Mayhem this year, i'll be gladly suprised! [AndOne]
lol the crowd would not care, just if the Mayhem crowd was any different from a normal LP show crowd. RogueSoul
It's as if heavy bands haven't played softer songs during their set ever. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11569-mayhem-festival-tour-rumor/#findComment-245446 Share on other sites
Gigito1995
If a shitty. Casey27
I'd really like to see this happen and have bands like A Day To Remember/Bring Me The Horizon/Of Mice & Men and that genre be the support. It would be an obvious reason to have to play the big loud jams. BlueChester
I never thought that Linkin Park would played Warped Tour and they technically did last year. Anything is possible. lakersfan13
I doubt this, mainly because I don't think the band wants to do another cross-country summer tour. Also, because I don't think they exactly are the typical Mayhem band. That being said, we've seen far crazier things happen.
