    He would never release a song...go on Conan to perform it for absolute NO REASON!

     

    He has a plan...he is just making this to calm people down and then "surprise" us with the album by the end of the year!!!

    I agree with that to an extent but I think it's more of like...they just don't give a fuck anymore. I'm not CRITICIZING that, I'm just saying they don't seem to care. It's not the same thing as being lazy, but they are lazy in the sense of they don't promote the albums much anymore. Chester said when THP dropped that if they didn't sell another album in the world ever again, he wouldn't know. LP gets their money from touring and as long as they can appease their fans by a USA tour here, an international tour here, and keep raking in the HUGE cash from these 60,000+ European festivals during the summers, they are set. Europe really gives them an incredible amount of money...obviously there are a few others like Summer Sonic that do that too, but they earn bank in Europe in the summertime. Hell, Europe last fall too with 9 sold out Germany shows (holy fuck) and all the other hugely attended shows. That tour was massive. They don't get anywhere near that kind of money in the USA.

     

    They will spread the music to a huge group of people with the new "pop" sound that I predict they'll go to. THP was going to pop originally, so I bet they go to that now. They might explode again into the mainstream, whether deliberately or not. We all know they can write a 3 minute #1 radio song in no time at all, so it'll be interesting to see their popularity with the next album. There's no doubt in my mind that if UIG was picked up by Transformers and promoted like New Divide was, that the tours in the USA would have sold even better.

    ATS was the last one. The rest is like "yeah we have a new album...let's not play any album promo shows on TV or anything...let's play like 2 songs live in our current setlists to crowds of 50-60,000 people...." - LP seems bored sometimes to me.

     

    Completely different genre of music but Taylor Swift is on album 5 and she's on every fucking talk show, TV show, etc in the world to play a single or a few songs to promote her shit. Good Morning America, all of it. All sorts of shows.

     

    I think LP is trying HARD to get away from the mainstream...

     

    They were for years the most popular rock band in the world...and now it seems that they want only the credibility of rock festivals and peers instead of spreading their music to a larger amount of people.

    This is a fucking joke, is this an European tour or a German tour with bonus dates in other places? 9 shows there and 0 shows in places like Spain, Italy, Portugal... How many more years do we have to wait? I don't have the money to travel to another country just for an hour and a half of music.

     

    What pisses me off the most is not that I don't get to see them (again), it's the fact that a lot of people in Germany get to see them multiple times while a lot of us get nothing, it's not fair. Talk whatever you like about promoters and sales and tickets and profit but for us fans it's just not fair.

     

    i´m pretty sure they´ve played Italy and Portugal this year already!!!

     

    Stop bitching about it...

     

    There are countries in South America that get ONE chance for each touring cycle.

    However-- that is indeed your opinion. I, and a lot of other fans, don't think it's a "bad change". Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a bad thing.

     

    Just because a band puts out something that you don't like doesn't inherently make it bad. It's good music. Just not your kind of thing. It's still Linkin Park.

     

    I, for one, love everything LP has come out with. HT/Reanimation/Meteora/MTM/ATS. I want them to keep on doing the music they want, and not listen to what people want them to sound like. It's just more exciting that way-- you never know what they're going to do next.

     

    Love it, or hate it, you can't deny that Linkin Park is a unique band in how they change from album to album-- even with keeping the same kind of sound between Hybrid Theory and Meteora, they pulled off plenty of new, exciting things that kept everything fresh. They know how to make good music, regardless of genre-- but the genre hopping I think is what people complain about, because not many other bands ((That I know of)) change constantly each album, constantly reinventing their sound.

     

    I think you're in it for more "Rock" than anything else, which is why you hated ATS-- because it wasn't in your genre preferences. It came completely out of left field. I, for one, just like to sit back and enjoy the ride. I was originally in it for the rock too-- but Linkin Park have brought so much more to the table than that in the past few years, it really is quite amazing. I want them to keep on doing what they want to do, without constricting themselves to a single mindset. However-- As such, I don't mind if they work in some of their old sound into anything, because I know that Linkin Park will keep things fresh. The most exciting thing is that you just don't know what to expect with new songs. I love that feeling.

    See, I don't want to be the guy that always is bitching about the set. But for a show like Download, they should change the set up A LITTLE BIT. Why play songs like Shadow, WFTE, and shit like that at a metal festival, when they know damn well that the crowd would love stuff like By Myself, With You, Figure.09, etc. At festival shows they should play different, cool sets. On their headlining shows it's fine to play the regular set...

     

    Exactly! I meant in special situations like Download Festival, Sonisphere and other metal festivals that their are invited for stuff they did in the past not for their new material.

    Don't want to bitch about the set, but they should change the set a little, accordingly. Download is pretty much a metal festival, and LP have enough 'metal' type songs that would work to their advantage. They're following Bullet and Disturbed, they should choose heavier songs. This would never happen, but songs like Blackout, From The Inside, With You, Figure.09, Qwerty (Def never happen) should be replacing stuff like WID, Waiting For The End, Iridescent, Shadow Of The Day, etc.

    The problem is that LP has that stupid thought that they NEED to play in every show the biggest number of singles and songs from the new album!!! They don´t need to play all over again WFTE, Iridescent, SOTD...people already know these songs and probably have seem them before so they need to spice things a little bit...but I quite don´t understand them!!!

    Generic setlist, I wonder if they cut BITS/Fallout for time. Or just because it was the first show back. No problem with the generic setlist but probably one less DSP I'll download from this year lol. Why does LP rehearse so much if they play the same ole stuff?

    But anyway Chester sounded GREAT tonight. Band really came out strong on Papercut. Solid set yeah, Chaz was awesome but I'd like them to change it up....

     

    Agreed...Why they rehearse if they play the same setlist for 1 year!!!

    Be creative...do something different...But overall was a great show!!!
