  1. seriously! what's with all the tension?

The GM of Warner Bros. Records told us they really wanted to make an album that was new, that no one had done before and they had complete creative control over. He told us there was no outside influence at all. I think the tension comes from just pushing themselves the furthest they've ever gone, or maybe during the process they felt stuff wasn't unique enough and drove them insane until they got it right. It's difficult to come up with new ideas and throw away you know has worked in the past.

  2. I must say, with each review, I'm getting more excited & worried for this album.

I wish some people would actually describe the tracks instead of just 'meh' or 'wtf'. its a very lazy way in getting your opnions across.

actually, all i can say based on these reviews is that the only thing I'm worried about is the "Lack of" guitar. Thats probably going to be the only thing I'll have gripes with if thats the case, otherwise it's pretty much postitive from there on.

They took away our note sheets, we couldn't bring in cellphones or cameras. The album blends from track to track and some tracks have parts in them that make them sound like a different track it's hard to remember detail after one listen. There's a lot of depth to most of the songs, with very un-linkin park unorthodox song structures.

There is very little guitar, and when it's there it's not really in the foreground, it's more blended in with the other layers of sounds, like in the The Catalyst. The songs that have guitar as the loudest element are more used in a hip hop style beat loop, heavy as hell and they just sound different. I liked those songs the most.

  3. I was also there, I should've copied down my notes from the sheet they made us fill out but oh well. You're all in for a real surprise the first listen through. Overall I found the album as a whole pretty shocking, Minutes to Midnight was baby steps, A Thousand Suns is running full sprint, in terms of uniqueness and how different of a direction they went. The songs are definitely better on multiple listens and the album really flows from track to track really well. It really feels like a full complete album, like each song just adds to create one big picture in the end.

    My favorite songs were

    When They Come For Me

    Wating For the End

    Blackout

    Wretches and Kings

By the way if you already RSVP'd for the laser show, you're definitely in, that's what Adam and Jessica told us.

  4. Great song! I wish they'd play it live. It's hilarious because a song like this would blow up pop radio for 6 straight months and launch right to number 1. I promise my girlfriend that hates Faint, Lying From You, etc (lol @ me dating someone that HATES LP music - opposites attract though <3<3) would love this. She hates New Divide, loves Shadow Of The Day and Leave Out All The Rest. I'll play this for her tomorrow and she'll be all over it. Both of us hate The Catalyst. If this were the single, it'd launch right up on iTunes. Hilarious.

haha my girlfriend also LOATHES Linkin Park, Chester's voice really irritates her. The only song she likes is "Shadow of the Day", she really really hated The Catalyst.

BTW for the rest of the community the RSVP for the LA Laser Show is up on lpunderground.com for current LPU members. Hopefully I get picked, I do have the LPU9 Premier Pass.

edit: back on topic, I think $60 is rape but I'll reserve final judgement when we know all the LPUX details.

  5. What is your favorite Linkin Park live moment and why? From 2000 to now, whether it's a show you've been to or not, what is your favorite moment of the band's live history?

For me it was the first time I got to hear them play live at the House of Blues Jimmy Kimmel Live! 18.05.2007 specifically hearing "Somewhere I Belong" live, It's just one of the songs I relate to from time to time and it never got old. To finally hear it live and see the band perform it was a surreal experience, it was insane and I'll always remember that. It was a big deal to me because I've been listening to Linkin Park since 2001 and for some reason every show I wanted to go to something happened or it fell on a date that I couldn't attend. So finally 6 years later I was lucky enough to get free tickets to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! taping. That was one of the best experiences in my life I've ever had.

  6. I went to the kimmel show, here's a scan of my ticket stub for proof

THEY DID NOT PLAY RUNAWAY, this I know for sure.

As for the set list I don't remember the order the songs were played in but the one on lplive seems correct.

  7. Were there a lot of different design directions before the final result or did Chester really have one clear specific idea and you executed it the way you thought he visioned the album art to look like?

What advice would you give to aspiring graphic designers looking to get into album art and the designing for the music industry?

    Thanks!

  8. Fuck yeah that's what I'm talking about. Another person told me the LPU'ers got the middle, KROQ on the side, so I dunno who was mixed up about it initially, haha.

I really don't know how some of the fans got to be in the middle, I showed up pretty early got in the right line for LPUers and ended up on the left side but very close to the stage at least because we were the first line to be led into the stage area.

  9. It was an excellent show, I got decent standing area on the left side of the stage. Brad, Mike, and Chester were close enough at times to give the girl next to me handshakes. I tried recording the audio with my cell phone but it came out like shit. Fans were super loud, I could only really hear Chester's vocals on New Divide because not that many people knew the lyrics yet lol. Awesome live song btw, the distorted breakdown is bad ass.
