  1. I mean...that's kind of to be expected after almost two decades?

You can technically say that any album released in the early 2000's wouldn't be popular today like it was back then...because, well, music styles were different back then and times are a-changing my friend.

  2. You have a fundamentally wrong idea of what maturity in music is if all you can cite as a lack of maturity is the tone.

If you think "WAAAAR, DESTROYERRRRR" has more maturity than "I'm holding up a light, chasing out the darkness inside, tonight. But nobody can save me now," that lies in your association of maturity to heaviness/anger, which just isn't the case in music. Sorry to say.

maybe not, but it sounds pretty damn cool though :D

  3.

Wow, you have seen some epic shows! Meteora Tour 04 and DBS debut show, I bet My Suffering sounded badass in person. I wish we had HQ version of it, being drastically different than the final version.

I tried to attend as many "special event" shows as I could, it got a little bit harder as I got older :'(.

The DBS show was pretty amazing. The small venue made it that much more special too. It was nice seeing a different side to Chester.

  4. I think that change in direction is what I admire about LP the most. They make the music they want to make, whether it be hard rock, rap, pop, electronica, whatever. They had stated multiple times that they are always going to try something new, but never release anything that they weren't proud of.

I also don't feel that there was any financial incentive for them saying how proud they were of this album, and so what if there was? Making music is their job. At the end of the day it's how they paid their bills and fed their family.

  5. Hard to condense...but these are in no particular order

    1. February 20, 2004 - Las Vegas, NV (Meteora World Tour) - My very first Linkin Park show. Won floor admission and meet and great passes through LPU. Meeting Chester and the rest of the band is something I'll never forget.

    2. August 1, 2007 - Phoenix, AZ (Projekt) - FIrst Projekt show ever and was able to get front row bar for this show. It poured rain so hard last night and that didn't stop them from rocking. Also caught a drum stick and Mike stood near us a few times.

    3. October 5, 2008 - Dead By Sunrise - Tempe, AZ (Club Tattoo) Super small venue, and it was Dead by Sunrise. The end.

4.September 10, 2014 - Phoenix, AZ (Carnivores Tour) It was just a great fucking show.

5.May 19, 2017 - Las Vegas, NV (OML Release Show). I almost didn't go to this show, but something told me I had to. I am forever thankful that I was able to attend and see him one last time. Beautiful show with an amazing set list, and the floor even bounced which was insane.

  6. It was a combination of both One Step Closer and In The End. I remember seeing the music video for OSC on MTV back around the time Hybrid Theory came out and was crept out by the video's cinematography and Mike and Chester's red and blone hair. I didn't know who the band was and at the time, being twelve, i was more into the mainstream Rap and Pop music from that time so I didn't really care for the song.

Several months later, my friend told me about this band called Linkin Park and kept obsessing over their album. I told him I'd check them out and but never did. That was until I saw the band appear on TRL the day after their performance on the 2001 MTV VMA's where they premiered the video for ITE. Right there and then, I became an instant fan. I remember not soon after I saw a TV spot for Hybrid Theory featuring video clips from the OSC video and realized the same band I once didn't care for was now the band I adored.

I kept wanting to buy the album, but both my parents were forcing me to wait to until Christmas..which was still three months away. During those months, I remember having the radio set to 99.5 everyday and waited impatiently for ITE to come on. Once Christmas time came around, all I cared to get was a Playstation 2 and Hybrid Theory. I also remember during the lead up to that year's Christmas, my stepsister grew a liking for the band and requested the album for a gift as well. To my disliking, she ended up getting the album before I did. In fact, it was one of the first gifts she opened. I as bumbed I didn't get the PS2, but when i unwrapped a 5'5"/5' cd that was Hybrid Theory, my spirits were lifted.

I played that album day and night for as long as I can remember up until Meteora arrived. It was because of that album I transitioned from being a Rap/Pop fan to a Rock/Metal fan. Looking back on it now, it's kind of funny. Because now that friend that got me into the band is now more into the mainstream rap/pop music.

I remember the VMAs that year. Was surprised they did OSC, figured ITE was a better fit for MTV at the time, but I'm glad they did.

  7. I actually picture something like this happening when when he starts singing. I see a beautiful sunset on a cliff by the ocean lol. It's a beautiful and unexpected end to a great song.

Right? He slowly descends down.. hands held high. His beard in full, fro gently curled and headphones neatly in place. I wish I was good at photoshop. I have such a vision.

  8. After the massive failure that ATS was for me, I was about to give up hope that I'd ever like a LP album again. MTM was a let down for me as well, not as much as ATS, but nonetheless, a let down.

I went into listening with low expectations:

LOST IN THE ECHO- This is the song I've waited for since Meteora. A perfect song IMO and completely restores my confidence back in the band that they can use their unique blend of energy, loud beats, rapping/screaming and make something new and fresh. It's FM mixed with DBS! 11/10

IN MY REMAINS I really like the chorus and outro. The song comes together nicely at the end, reminds me a bit of Hands Held High at the end. 10/10

I'LL BE GONE Really catchy- I love the lyrics in this one and the overall sound. Really great singing by Chester on this track. 9.5/10

CASTLE OF GLASS It's a good song all-in-all but the intro and building up of the song is a bit too weird for me. It is a grower and I have caught myself singing the lyrics as of late! 8.5/10

VICTIMIZED In your face- kick ass song. I love the old LP style! I just wish Mike has another verse or two thrown in. 9/10

ROADS UNTRAVELED I get a My December vibe from the creative background sounds we hear on this track. I love the harmonies by both Mike and Chester on this one. 10/10

SKIN TO BONE This is probably my least favorite song on the album. The lyrics are a bit shallow and I'm not really digging the vibe that much. Astat compared it to In Between on MTM and I couldn't agree more. It's not bad- but it's the least interesting song on the album. 7/10

UNTIL IT BREAKS The opening of this song makes me think it's just a Mike track which would have been really awesome! A in-your-face aggressive rap song with heavy beats! That would have been amazing. Instead, it turns into a completely different song at the end- almost sounds like a lullaby at the end to me. With that being said, I still like the song as a whole and find it to be an extremely unique song. 9/10

TINFOIL Really great instrumental- It gives me a session kind of vibe. 9/10

POWERLESS- Reminds me a bit of Numb, which is a good thing since that was one of my favorites off of Meteora. I think it'd make a strong single- I really appreciate the sincere lyrics.

    9.5/10

LIVING THINGS 9/10. I'm pleasantly surprised I like the cd as much as I do. LP is back and I couldn't be happier about that. They finally washed the bad taste out of our mouths that was ATS. I think the band finally found a happy medium between their older style and newer style. I'm again excited, like I was in 2003, about what's to come next.

A good review from you?? The apocalypse must be near.

  9. Can't for the life of me remember my old username to this site as I haven't been on since ATS being released (was LPRocker88 on LPU for those you who go a bit back).

I am really impressed with LT, and let me tell you I was a big skeptic. I am one of those "Hybrid Theory was the best album in the world" people, so when ATS came out I was one of those fans who lost most hope. But I am glad to say after 5-6 plays of LT I have regained my love for Linkin Park. Granted some of the songs are kinda wtf out there, some are completely amazing. I could listen to Lost in the Echo and I'll Be Gone a billion and ten times and be happy.

Oh, and now that Brad has busted out of his singing shell - who's next? I'm rooting for Hahn.
