@RogueSoul honestly, asking Mike about setlists insisting that they are not so good, and then setting 30 seconds to mars as an example is just nonsense. 30 seconds to mars does only one thing during their shows: they completely disregard the audience, playing from 11 to 13 full songs on a freaking headline show, they almost completely skip playing two out of their four records. How can that be an example to whichever band in the world?! Muse, though, is in a completely different league live wise, yes, they have a very great range of songs, I do think they rehearse around 40 songs for each tour, they did a stadium tour two years ago when they played for two hours(and even more) straight, but they lack a feeling of a band that is playing live.

I appreciate how they do try to fit in more stuff into the set, but why do try for the sake of trying? I mean, I don't really like these "shortened" songs stuff. You either play the song in full, or don't try to play it at all, do justice to your own creature. This kind of setlist actually doesn't make me wanna go buy the ticket now. -

I'd rather see my favourite band not doing shows in parts, like the heavy beginning the then soft middle part, after that something between heavy and soft. I just can't take what he's doing, because it's just unprofessional. He had problems with his screaming ever since 2007, too many times his screaming is just off the techique, damaging his chords. I'm the vocalist myself, and I discovered these things many times, and that's just the lack of hard work at rehearsal studio, lack of studying over and over, and if Chester continues on doing things like that, he will lose his voice sooner or later. One show done in that matter affects the vocal pitch for at least day or two, if you continue on with your voice being fucked up, you will only tear your chords up even more. There was a show(or maybe even that whole tour leg) when he was really spot on with the screaming, I'm speaking about Madison Square Garden show in 2011(which was broadcasted), everything was in its place, and his singing and screaming were getting along as well as possible. But this particular show(I mean Carson) is out of line, as for me. That's not something that should be even happening, but that's what's up. Listen to "Somewhere I Belong", "In My Remains" - honestly, that's kind of terrible. If with the Rock In Rio Chester managed to put voice struggles in the way where they do the show more raw and emotional, this time around it was just him struggling, and that's not very good thing..chain reaction can be a bitch here, and voice is not a good bro to play Russian Roulette with. -

Seems like Chester had the same thing that happened on Rock In Rio earlier this year. He fucked up his voice in the beginning of the show with the screaming, and after that it was a downhill, because of nature of human voice system. Still don't know why he doesn't learn from his mistakes over the years, otherwise he would've already taken some lessons with Melissa Cross, and could have no problems with his voice anymore, but he chooses the other(wrong) way. -

Victimized\Qwerty mashup won't sound pretty awesome if Chester will be doing Qwerty part like it's done on the video, he should be screaming his head out, not pronouncing the words instead of screaming them, it'll ruin entire thing. -
I feel really sad about Qwerty not being played live any more than Japan 2006 and PR 2007, even though the 2007 performances lacked the quality(of being played live) comparing to Summer Sonic. Seems like it will never have its way back into the set again, and that's really shitty and almost painful, since it's one of my all time favorites. Also, shame that the same thing appears for By Myself, Easier To Run, Valentine's Day and In Pieces. Though there's a little glimmer of hope that Figure.09 may make a comeback someday, and that would be really cool.

Which LT songs will be played on the Honda Civic Tour?
iamthecentury replied to ChuckCheese's topic in Live Talk
He wasn't really good at verses of "Burning In The Skies" and "Iridescent" even, so I'd rather hear no singing from him in live setting, it's quite unprofessional, Mike is a great musician, producer, MC, whatever, but he can't fill the shoes of being a singer, as of me. If you check out my post you'll probably understand what I've meant while talking about "Victimized" not having a place in the set, as well as about "Living Things" not being a good live album. -
After all, the most "old school sounding" thing on the album is the way Chester sings the line "so one last lie" in "Lost In The Echo", no bad blood, it was just funny to notice.
-
Sadly, this will never be. They won't ever rotate songs very much, and the biggest number of them that they'll rehearse for the tour will be like 25 songs(which now should be normally 35), because they have all of these visuals and such, which doesn't help to make a different set every night, add some and cut some songs every night.. Sad but true, the only thing that we can hope for is the similar variety of sets that was there on the PR 2007 and European Summer 2008, these tours were the best ones in terms of variety and rotating.

Which LT songs will be played on the Honda Civic Tour?
iamthecentury replied to ChuckCheese's topic in Live Talk
Give me a quote from them then, anyway, I don't really care what they said, I just wrote down my own opinion. And your phrase about "Each and every song on this album has the potential to blow minds on stage." - man, LT have some cool sounds in it, got the catchy choruses, but the only melody(in terms of music) that really gets my attention is the main theme from "Castle of Glass", other than that, there's no that much of originality, especially in the synth parts. And again, Linkin Park used to be a live band for the last 10 years, first three albums were mixed and mastered like a live-arena-rock\metal albums, ATS was mixed rather well, but the lack of live instruments in front of the mix took its place(at times) already, and then LT - it is mixed with an aim to make it sound synthetic, there is a little of a live drums on the album, guitars sound overproduced, there are some nice chord progressions, but the way they've been recorded and mixed just ruins it all. And that's why I think that it will not be a good live album. Try to cope with people having a different opininon, it makes things a lot easier. "Victimized" being placed anywhere in the set? It's a nice joke, as "Victimized" placed after "Numb", "Powerless" or "Breaking The Habit" will seem just dumb. And its length is one of the reasons it shouldn't be played, because it's not the song in many ways, as for me. First, it's just composed from some different pieces, there's no really good transitions from part to part, they're coming out of nowhere. Secondly, the well-composed, well-sang song has to leave you feeling after the listen, while the "Victimized" seem more like to leave you just an emotion. "Roads Untraveled" has no place just because there are songs that "should be played from Living Things", because they have more potential on becoming a single, and that will be the matter of the first choice for "LT songs" during the first tour in support of an album. "Powerless" seem so overrated to me, it is built on the same pattern as "Roads Untraveled", and if I had to choose from these two: I'd choose "Roads Untraveled" - this song has much more meaning and feeling in it. -
A little bit of a dreamy setlist for the Honda Civic Tour: 01. Lies Greed Misery 02. Given Up 03. With You 04. Runaway 05. Blackout 06. Somewhere I Belong 07. Faint 08. Breaking The Habit 09. From The Inside 10. Numb 11. In My Remains 12. What I've Done 13. Points of Authority 14. Castle Of Glass 15. Iridescent 16. I'll Be Gone 17. In The End 18. The Catalyst -------------------------- 19. Lost In The Echo 20. Figure.09 21. Papercut 22. One Step Closer 23. A Place For My Head

Which LT songs will be played on the Honda Civic Tour?
iamthecentury replied to ChuckCheese's topic in Live Talk
Honestly, I don't really think that "Living Things" will be a good live album, there are some songs that just shouldn't be played live, because they will sound shitty in live setting by default, like "Skin to Bone"(too much of Mike's singing here, no thanks, he won't handle it live) and "Until It Breaks"(well, it'll be just..meh), other than that.. They will surely keep "Lies Greed Misery" in the set, because it showcases the band(nowadays) very well(maybe Chester even decides to scream the third chorus, like it's done on the record, and then it'll be an even more killer live song). I see it as a show opener. I see "Burn It Down" being switched from time to time with likes of "New Divide"(more likely) or "What I've Done". The other song that will have the permanent place in the set will be "Castle Of Glass", it will be a good breath of fresh air somewhere in between "The Catalyst" and "Crawling". They will surely rehearse "I'll Be Gone" and "In My Remains" - because these are just plain rock anthems, they just need to be played, but, most likely, they will be switched from show to show. "Lost In The Echo" will be a permanent encore opener, I can guess, just because of its nature. I guess that's all from me. Though I'd love to, I just can't imagine "Roads Untraveled" and "Victimized" being played, because there's just no place in the set. "Powerless" is a very big question, I don't think it'd go very well live, can't imagine its place in the set, but since its a soundtrack and blah-blah-blah it'll be played at times. And, again, I can't see "Skin to Bone" and "Until it Breaks" ever making their way in the live set, they will just seem so out of place, sorry if you like them, just my 5 cents. P.S. The fact of "Waiting For The End" already having an "Apaches intro" talks for itself on behalf of "Until it Breaks" never ever being played live, I guess they'll just keep it that way. -
I'm talking mostly about parts in the chorus(00:53-00:56, 00:27-00:29) and the part in the end of the song(01:43-01:45), because it just something I didn't even expect to appear on the Linkin Park record, if it appears, of course. It seems like it should be there in this place and time, but I'm not really sure about what I'm hearing in the background here under the cymbal that is soo at the front of the mix. Rob has never even used the second pedal, so that's pretty much interesting if he started doing double bass in his 30s(well, on the record, at least). The part in the first verse sound sampled, but it's a top work from Rob if it's not, because, again, I have a lot of doubts about him using the double bass, which makes that beat simplier to play. And..if it's really double bass in the parts I mentioned, then I highly doubt that "Victimized" would be played live in a 100-% record-like version, though it would be really interesting.
-
Well, after listening to the album for a while I have just one question left about it, and since the FLAC-version of the album already appears on the net, I guess someone who has some good sounding speakers at home can answer me properly, since I can't do it myself, so the question is: Does "Victimized" really have double bass drum lines in it(though they put 'em on the very background in the mix), or is it just some kind of sample thing or somewhat like that? I turned low end to the full throttle on my speakers and music-players equalisers, though I still couldn't get it, does it appear here, or not, haha.
-
Well, what can I say, 5 songs out of 12 are definitely good - "Lost In The Echo", "In My Remains", "I'll Be Gone", "Castle Of Glass", "Roads Untraveled". After that come "Burn It Down" and "Until It Breaks" - probably worst Linkin Park songs(?) ever. "Skin To Bone" and "Victimized" - well, these ones are just something strange, there are good moments in them, but overall I can't say much about them, so these are the "filler". "Tinfoil" is a great little thing, shame that it's so short. "Powerless" - it has some potential in it, but I didn't get it as of now, but it's definitely better than "Burn It Down", "Until It Breaks", "Skin To Bone" and "Victimized". And "Lies Greed Misery" is the most controversial song off the record for me, it has the groove, it has that pretty good anger-driven ending, but the song is way too strange, I can't decide if I like it or not, huh. Strange album, but there are some big choruses, something to sing along to, but for now, I guess I'd rather listen to ATS part 2, than to the album that is now called "Living Things". There is too much of Mike's singing(with his parts being harder than the ones in "BITS" and "Iridescent"), which immediately makes some songs almost impossible to play live, huh. Linkin Park did something fresh again, and maybe it will grow on me, who knows what future holds.

Well, I don't have lots of words to say about the show. I just tell you the fact and a couple more: First, I had the ticket to the fan-zone, well, the show began, thank god that people were at least jumping up and down, some random guy(props to him) and me tried to get the moshpit going in the fan-zone, there were 4-5 people near us who were willing to start it too. After that, we've been given the reaction from some people out there: they just have tried to beat us up, cool then. Second, we left the fan-zone, got to the entrance ticket zone, found the moshpit. After that I had one of the best hours in my life, because of that feeling, that you are somewhere you belong. Chester's voice was really strong during the whole show, top job. Gotta say that the dream came true, I finally got a chance to get my feelings out while that bridge after the second chorus of "The Catalyst" was building up. So, overall, great show, but I'll be very sad if we would never hear "With You", "Runaway", "POA" live, these songs should be clinched in the live set for the time being. -

Oh jeez, my "complaint" is based on something I saw with my own eyes, and that's more than enough for me. In 2007 and 2009 people came to the show and just tore it apart, on the Greenfest people were jumping even while the "New Divide" was being played, and I guess the fact says everything itself. Now we've got flashmobs, and no one gives a toss about giving some of their energy back to the band. LP said a lot of words about bringing back the energetic and skull-crushing live shows, and they totally did it, but nobody cares anymore, and that's why I "complain", people cared more about not forgetting when to do the next flashmob, than listening to music and getting their feelings out. The flashmob on the Red Square was really in the right place and the right time, it was meaningful and it was done on a purpose of showing something to the band. And that was enough. Enough is enough, ya know? And I'm not talking shit, I'm just commenting on what I've seen, and getting my thoughts on why that's turned out that way in public in the topic where they're supposed to be said. Yep, I was harsh, but I stand for every single word I said, 10th of June should have been one of the best days of my life, but turned out to be a hell of a disappointment. And yes, I'm taking a blame for the "weak crowd" on bazinga!. Ever heard of reading between the lines? bazinga! did a good job sometime in the past , but now they are just plain wrong. Not even mentioning that they have the shop where they're illegally selling the content that is related to the band, not even mentioning that they're "helping" people to get a LPU membership, with a price increased(2 times on 20$ membership, 1,33 times on 60$) on some purpose, and it's been done for years now. -

I give you an example then: the show in an empty hall with low ticket sales is the worse, on the Maxidrom, it was packed, but it felt like it was empty. I don't know where have you been at the show, but all of freaking fan-zone from the left side to the center stood completely still, while the heaviest LP songs were being played. I've been looking around for the most part of set(until I walked out), looking for a more people-friendly space, I didn't witness a square feet of place where people were jumping, even with my height, that is close to 2 metres. Oh, hello, girl from Russia. My rant was done to see someone like you appearing here. First of all, gotta tell you one simple thing: if you see a person with a different opinion on some matter, you should just go your own way, while not giving a fuck and not taking anyone's time trying to be "cool" and "smart". Oh..and well, you stated me being a schoolboy..and if you still think that holding up the sheet of paper with a "trollface" on it is okay(regardless of the place and time), then I have bad news for you. As for the "hard work", what is the "hard work" here? Printing these sheets, I guess, or reposting news in the social networks? Or maybe thinking a whole lot of nights of doing something truly unique, meaningful and attractive at one time? I see lots of hard work here, yeah. Now you can continue on being a true "grown up". Have a nice life with a trollface in your hands. All the best. -

The show was fucking ruined by the crowd, which was just dead. Nobody even jumped up and down during "With You" and "Runaway", not even mentioning "A Place For My Head" - everyone just STOOD FUCKING STILL. I've waited 10 years to hear these songs live, and I guess I got more emotions from watching Rock In Rio stream in my chair at home, than from the witnessing them live. I've walked out during the ending of "The Catalyst". It's not about the band, they did everything on top, it's all about people who listen to Linkin Park now. I'm badly disappointed, guys. Also.. bazinga! can go s*** a d*** with their "pretty awesome" flashmobs, seems like it is the only thing they care about, "we are Russian LP fans, we do flashmobs, we are unique and awesome". Fuck you, bazinga!, you've ruined the Russian Linkin Park fanbase with all of this shit, and that's all I've witnessed on the 10th of June. I've never left any show in my life by my own choice, so I guess you can understand how disappointed was I. If only you saw Mike's face while they were playing "With You", "From The Inside" and "Runaway", I'm pretty sure he was like "wtf?! why are they standing still?".. -

For me, it is the worst song they've ever done. Well, I can listen to it while listening to ATS from back to back, because it seems like it's in the right place then, but as a stand alone song, or a part of a live set I can't stand it most of times Guys, sorry to smash your dreams with a stone, but let's keep it real: the chance of "By Myself" and "Forgotten" being played again is close to none I'd love to hear both of them too, but that's just not even a possibility, I guess. I only hope that they won't cut out "With You" and "Runaway", so I see that set in Moscow and St.-Petersburg and will have a chance to get very crazy in the pit, haha. You must be mad if "WTCFM" has a comparable amount of energy with "Runaway". Sorry, but it's not even close. "Runaway" is the song that makes you jump all over the place, the song that makes you scream these three words with Chester, while "WTCFM" is like taking a warm shower, it doesn't make you move, it isn't anger driven song even, so how could it be that it has a comparable amount of energy with "Runaway"? No way, man, sorry. As for the medley part: Oh, well, remember that 2007, 2008, 2009, man? The setlists were pretty intense on the one hand, and pretty stripped down on the other: 2007: SOTD, LOATR, TLTGYA, BTH, Numb. 2008: SOTD, LOATR, Valentine's Day, My December\Pushing Me Away, BTH, Numb. 2009: SOTD, LOATR, BTH, Numb. It never did compromise the show, I suppose, it just makes the show better, as for me, because the show should showcase every part of band's music, and while I've grown tired of Numb, I'd prefer to hear SOTD again, it brings me back to 2009, man, I was 15, and holy shit, it was one of the first times I really felt something from hearing live music, even though it was my 10 -15th live show(of any artist) at the time. I'm against medleys at all, because it's like f***ing in the ass, the song is a piece of art and a stand alone thing - you better play nothing of it, than just a part. And the last thing is me wanting to hear Iridescent live at all, haha, because it's one of the best their songs, and one of the three best songs on ATS. Well, at the end of the day, it's just my opinion, some may agree, some may disagree, yours one seem to be different, and that's okay -

I can't stand people saying they should rotate WTCFM and Runaway, what do you think about at all? That's just out of line, I wouldn't mind if you said full Iridescent or BITS, or everything else, but WTCFM.. I just don't understand why people love this "song" at all.. As of the setlist, well, it was very good to wake up to news like these. I couldn't even imagine that one day I will hear "With You" live, but now it's very likely happening soon. Also I'd be glad to see one of the heavier things from "Meteora" - From The Inside or Figure.09 or Don't Stay. It would be good if they got rid of the medley, because medleys are not that kind of thing I'm into, playing a medley is like - "oh, hey, here's that song you wanted, but there's only a verse and a chorus, sorry if you like refrain more, bro!", so I'd rather hear one of these 3 songs in full or BITS instead of a medley. -
01. Burning In The Skies 02. In Pieces 03. Given Up 04. Figure.09 05. What I've Done 06. One Step Closer 07. With You 08. Leave Out All The Rest 09. Breaking The Habit 10. Faint 11. Points Of Authority 12. Numb 13. Easier To Run 14. By Myself 15. No More Sorrow 16. Valentine's Day 17. From The Inside 18. A Place For My Head Encore: 19. Pushing Me Away(album version) 20. In The End 21. Iridescent 22. The Catalyst

If I talked about what I'd like to see in the setlist this time, I'd say so: Would be very cool to see them let go of "all of the hit singles" formula, would be good to see some songs like "With You", "Points Of Authority", "Don't Stay", "In Pieces", "Valentine's Day" make their way back into the rotation. Would be even better if they suddenly will please us with "Easier To Run" or "Figure.09"(well, that, pretty much, will never happen).. ..but on the other hand I gotta keep things real: I guess the differences with ATS cycle will be very little, maybe 3 older(honestly, I'd say these could be any songs from the back catalogue, but most likely it'll be something heavy, since they've been talking a lot about "energy of the live shows" recently,) songs will be added to rotation, besides the 2 new ones. Everything from ATS cycle will still be there at the times, besides interludes, "Blackout" and "The Messenger". I also hope, that "When They Come For Me" will be out of rotation this time. Just my 5 cents.
