  1. (originally posted in the wrong thread:) Not bad at all. I got the distinct early-LP vibe, without it feeling like a retread of old territory. And to those of you saying it's synth, not guitar, believe me, I've heard some amazing things done with guitars in post-production before. That could very well be Brad
  2. Edit: whoa, totally posted in the wrong thread, sorry. D:
  3. Still no one is mentioning how the guitar solo that's supposedly in Iridescent sounds? The review kind of sucked. I mean, I can understand that it was probably based on one listen of an album he couldn't take home and digest further, but it still seems like he didn't even really try. Much preferred Ana's review.
  4. Favorite LP album? On the whole, I'd say Meteora, but for the strengths of individual songs, Minutes To Midnight. Favorite LP song? The Little Things Give You Away Favorite LP lyrics? Also The Little Things Give You Away Favorite Hybrid Theory song? Runaway Favorite Meteora song? Figure.09 Favorite Minutes to Midnight Song? TLTGYA Favorite Live CD? Only have Road To Revolution, so that one. Least Favorite LP album? Hybrid Theory Least Favorite LP song? In The End Least Favorite LP lyrics? Pretty much the entire Hybrid Theory album. Least Favorite Hybrid Theory song? In The End Least Favorite Meteora song? Don't Stay Least Favorite Minutes to Midnight song? Leave Out All The Rest
  5. I like being a tease
  6. I'd have them play No More Sorrow 24 times, and an improvised jam session as an encore. MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Hahaha, but seriously, I would want to look over the guitar tunings on the songs first (I understand that Meteora has many songs in different tunings) so that Brad doesn't have to change guitars between every song (as someone who writes material in no fewer than five different tunings, on 6, 7 AND 8-string guitars, I know how annoying this can be). My setlist would probably focus on heavier material from all three albums. I have always preferred their heavier tunes to the softer experiments on their last album. I'd start with Wake/Given Up, and I would have Mike play those little improvisations he was doing in the verses for a while. Then they'd break into No More Sorrow and In Pieces. After that, a smattering of tunes from Meteora and Hybrid Theory. Not sure what order, but there'd be songs like Runaway, With You, Easier To Run, Figure.09, Don't Stay, A Place For My Head, New Divide. Somewhere in the middle of all that I'd throw in Valentine's Day and Blackbirds just to bring the tone down and give a bit of lighter-waving room. The last song would be The Little Things Give You Away, because I picture that as being a closing song (was kind of weirded out by the fact that it was in the middle of Road To Revolution). The encore would be The Catalyst. It's not set-in-stone, but that's pretty much all I'd have them play to make me happy
  7. If I were in the same position (which I may very well soon be, considering I'm a musician in the process of recording music right now), I'd WANT my fans hearing my music. I obviously can't speak for LP, but I'd like to think the mindset of being proud of your accomplishments and the uneasiness that comes with waiting to hear fan reactions is not uncommon
  8. I've honestly never understood the whole "I'm not going to ruin the experience by listening to fan-endorsed snippets of music" thing. They put those previews up on the site to be listened to, not scoffed at because you're waiting for the whole thing. Otherwise, they wouldn't even bother putting up previews :/
  9. This. If anything, I bet they'll only have clips of the non-interlude tracks. If I'm right in my assumptions, the interlude tracks might simply be parts of the larger songs, separated from them by a relatively arbitrary track division. Why they would do that is beyond me (maybe to give the illusion of having more music, or to appease a record company not wanting a mainstream rock band to make an album with mostly songs over 6 minutes long), but that's what I think is gonna happen.
  10. I did find it disappointing that there wasn't much Brad or Joe in the video. But the Joe that was in the video... what a Joe it was!
  11. 1) The Little Things Give You Away Definitely has a really cool jammy vibe about it which is something I've often found lacking in this kind of music, and the musicianship is top-notch. It feels every bit as epic as a lot of the prog bands I listen to can be. I'd say that as an experiment in being "different" from this band, this one was the most successful. 2) Runaway One of the only songs from their "nu-metal" days that really speaks to me. I just fucking LOVE that vocal melody in the verse, and the synth chords, and the melodic-and-catchy-yet-still-heavy chorus. It's dead simple, musically, but that's what makes it so effective. And the way this song makes use of texture is just awesome. There definitely aren't that many mainstream bands out there right now making use of textures in this way, and the fact that this was done almost 10 years ago and still sounds fresh is just amazing. 3) The Catalyst It might be a bit too soon to put this on a list, but honestly, this song mixes the elements in both of the previous songs really well... the catchy melodies and textures of Runaway with the complex structure and musicianship and epic feel of TLTGYA. I really love the way the track tastefully builds up to a full-band climax.
  12. Probably at the thought of having to run around in that little box that was in the "making of" video. I know I'd be fairly amused!
