  1. Imagine if they did ANYTHING different for once!

I love how every album touring session starts. People go mad for new shit and love it, say it's the best thing since sliced bread, and then they keep playing it and it's boring.

In 2004, our favourite nu-metal band released an EP and did a couple of shows with JAY-Z, one of the biggest names in hip-hop at the time and still going strong now.

In 2005, LP got Chali 2na onstage and flipped up Frgt/10 for the first time ever.

In 2006, the band played live with Jay-Z AND freaking Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

Later that year they played a song they've never played before, a song that they wrote 2 band-names ago, with their old singer - Reading My Eyes.

They also debuted a piano version of Pushing Me Away, which carried on throughout 2007 and 2008. Many people called it boring eventually, but they loved it at first.

In 2007-2008, Mike started rapping various old-school LP & Fort Minor verses over the intro/outro of Points of Authority. The band also played Breaking The Habit and a verse of Hands Held High spontaneously due to band arrival failure once.

In the past 6 years, the band have been joined by the likes of Busta Rhymes, Street Drum Corps and Chris Cornell onstage. In the past 7 years the band have mashed up various songs of theirs, including about a million additions to Bleed It Out, one even featuring fan favourites No Roads Left, A Place For My Head and Reading My Eyes on the bridge. Even fucking Sabotage by Beastie Boys!

In 2011, the band said "fuck it, yolo" and busted a live piano cover of Rolling In The Deep by Adele in London.

In 2012, the band performed what we affectionately refer to as "Balad Medley" - like PMA piano, we all loved it at first, now everyone hates it? Not to mention, this was the year many melodramatic forum posters posted "RIP APFMH", and then days later they played that as the intro song for the entire set, and with With You a few songs later to everyone's surprise. Also, anyone remember going mad for QWERTY being mixed in with Victimized? I remember you all tucking your boners into your belt on that one. And I'm sure you all still love the Apaches intro on WFTE?

This year? The year of no surprises?

    - The MFR show that featured Heart, Filharmonic, Mike Einzinger and Travis Barker

    - A few mashup intros

    - Mike rapping Rakim's verse on GATS

    - Robot Boy interlude (I found it hard to click through the forums with all the fanboy-jizz clogging it up that week)

    - Castle of Dance

    - Wastelands verse over Runaway

    - Joe solo

    - Mike solo, with the various verses

    - Numb/Encore intro

    - LFY/DOTS mashup

    - The ending medleys (intrlude/UIG/ALTNC/LITS/Crawling/ND)

    - ANOTHER BIO mashup

    - Extended WID solo

Some may be small, but we cannot say this band never changes things, because it's one band that actually does.

  2. sorry im not sad enough to watch porn, and if you have so many why do you need to rip this one? and why do you think the music industry has to charge more? because of file sharing.

    Everyone watches porn, you liar.

I have no personal need to rip it, but some people are collectors. I support that.

Edit - also, this isn't anything to do with the industry. Live streams have nothing to do with the financial stability of the music industry. Is that $40 going to go back into the small bands that are trying to make it? What exactly does that $40 per person do to help revive the industry?

  3. no because he wants to rip off a small company

you want something, you pay for it

Firstly, ripping off a small company? The small company are ripping off the fans. 40 bucks for a one-time-only live stream. And don't try to fucking sugarcoat it, it is what it is. Do you know how many live proshots we have from Linkin Park just this year alone? Enough for this one not to be a 'one off VIP' show.

Secondly, 'you want something, you pay for it' - wanna introduce you to this new thing, bruv. It's called the internet. It's called file sharing. Do you not support that? Do you pay for the pornography you watch on RedTube?

  4. Julien-K is a US band, yet they don't tour in their home country. Wtf is wrong with the world?

Have you not been reading our replies?! :P

i've always felt the julien-k guys had very shady side-businesses. Is there any truth to it or with what exactly are they supporthing themselves outside of the band.

They're far from shady. Ryan and Amir may still have assets from their previous works (Rough Cutt, Orgy, DBS, to name a few), but they are also businessmen. They own a few bars/restaurants in LA together.

Feels like this band is gonna die someday, Killing Fields is one of my favorite songs of all time, it's a master piece... Disease is really good too, their first album is great in general.

What's up with Brandon? what is he doing now?

Last I heard, he was playing bass in his girlfriends band. I believe they're a country act.

  5. I believe there was a drug raid involved? I'm not sure on the actual details on that side of things but they're independant for sure.

They can get signed at any point, as I believe they're not "shelved" so they are free to sign with whoever they like. But yeah, in my opinion they need more regular releases and regular shows to gain their popularity. However, touring as a support act doesn't pay... Touring as a headliner pays, but you still have your own costs added to it. There just isn't any financial benefit right now, they need to build their fanbase. Which is done through touring. Vicious cycle I guess.

  6. Yeah that's what I thought but ryan said as of few days ago there doing everything on there own now or so ryan says

He includes Daniel in his statement. Daniel used to own Tiefdruck Musik but ended the business, so now he is pretty much the only person involved with the band. 2808 MGMT isn't a multi-person company, it's run by one man and he's one of the coolest, nicest and supportive people I've ever come to know.

It was Daniel who suggest to Ryan and Amir to hire me to work with them in 2012. However, Daniel only runs the operations in Europe; I'm not sure how far his reach is but they have no management in the US, which is why they don't tour there.

  7. If Elias left Julien-K so he could stop traveling and be with his family, why does it seem like he is literally ALWAYS on tour with all these different bands? I don't understand why he didn't just stay with Julien-K. I miss the old line up with Brandon and Elias in it.

There was waaaaaaay more to it than what Elias said publicly. Lots of other stuff. Up to Wilderness if he wishes to say anything or not...I don't want to get into the private lives of the band.

It's actually a pretty quick story haha. Elias told the band and the fans he was leaving to spend time with his family. This was true at first and he started studying. I believe he was studying to become a dentist.

About a little over a year later he got an offer for Rock of Ages. This was when the band and myself were in Sweden, I believe, and Elias called Ryan to tell him and to explain in hopes of Ryan not being offended. Ryan and the band were genuinely happy for him, as Elias was explaining he was getting paid quite handsomely for it.

This tells me that the tours he's been on as of late (Rock of Ages, the metal superstar project he was involved in, and K&TL) pay quite well. Julien-K unfortunately are yet to build a big enough fanbase for themselves to do headlining tours and feel the financial benefit from it.

Elias was supposed to play the DTA show, but backed out because of the K&TL offer, which is the reason Julien-K and Elias are NOT on good terms now.

My friend went to the show last night can confirm no chester. Is he like not friends with em no more

Of course they're still friends. I'm not sure why Chester wasn't there, but the reasons could be endless. :)
