We had to wait 7 years for the new Dead Celebrity Status album...
-
Maybe "new music" will just be a preview of the single...
-
My views on some of the songs:
1) Dark Crystal - Awesome, deffo rap vibe but fast-paced, doesn't really sound very LP or even very FM to be honest but I don't mean that in a bad way and as a fan of upbeat hip-hoppy music, this sounds awesome. Would love to see someone rap over this.
2) Can't Hurt Me - Cool, quite like it, easy to imagine a finished version of this with vocals. It's good, has potential but doesn't majorly stand out for me as something "different" which is kinda what I like/look for from LPU tracks.
3) Bleed It Out - it's interesting, but I definitely think the style of Mike's rapping in the real version of the song is better. No rating, it's just interesting.
5) Air Force One - not keen on this one.
6) Consequence A - this sounds almost like a Grime instrumental, if you don't know what Grime is then you won't get what I mean I suppose. Someone needs to spit on this beat.
6) Consequence B - cool, but I prefer A. -
it's awesome but clearly not LP style, I just wish Mike would release proper FM content. An album.

I'll be honest, I consider myself a pretty "big" FM and LP fan and for me, Fort Minor has always been Mike Shinoda's solo project... That's not a dig at the guests on the first album, of course they played a part, maybe a large part, certainly a big part, but I don't really see the problem here.
But yes, a lack of clarity at this moment in time seems to be getting in the way of drawing any meaningful conclusions. At this point I just really want some more Fort Minor music, whether it's just Mike or with guests I don't care!
But... I will say this: given that Ryu claims he wrote a verse and expected it to be on the song, it is a bit strange that Mike is making all this effort to try and almost reinforce to everybody that Fort Minor is "just" Mike Shinoda - he mentioned several times in the interview posted a few pages back how he did it all himself, all the music, the video etc... It's almost like he's trying to make a point which does seem a little... Childish/disrespectful.
I think there's something else going on here, but at the same time I have no idea what. -
Is the reason I can't share the video on facebook with a preview because it's currently unlisted?

I believe this is only a one-song comeback in support of a charity project (college funds, MFR, Nepal). That's why this whole thing gets so hyped on the internet and on Conan tomorrow, they are trying to maximize the attention for the cause. That's why I assume the merch and LE vinyls are produced to raise money.
But then why would he make the lyrics sound as if he's reaching out to fans, apologising for only making one FM record etc? If this was just a charity hit, surely the song would be themed, similar to LTGYA

hmm am i the only one who would not like a thousand suns as the album name?
it just soudns too simple for linkin park, nowhere near as much originality as Hybrid Theory...
basically linkin park are too good for it

hmm ok thanks, well i was hoping for an august release date, but that seems unlikely i reckon. Presuming the amazon date is legit, when do you guys think the first single will be leaked/released???
-
I'd say it's the opposite.
ok guys, call me dumb, but how is this in anyway reliable? anyone can write on amazon... right?

I'm all for LP doing something "different" - but different should mean creating a new style for themselves, not featuring pop singers in lead singles... Obviously I haven't heard the song yet so I'm not going to judge too much but, not exactly encouraged by this news.
