  1. I understand everything you're saying. I'm not going to be able to continue to respond to each persons post, but I'm listening to everything you're saying. All I can say is, maybe down the road we'll SHOW you why this is a good move. Nothing I can say or do now. Timing is strange I know, but our hands were tied. We wanted to launch this in a really cool way (NYC show/LA event), so that's why a lot more is still in the works.

I really hope you guys do, cause at the moment it will come to the end of my membership and I won't renew. Which I will actually be very dissapointed in doing as it will feel like the end of an era for me. It concerns me that you've yet to sooth any international fans - but understand wanting to do the big launch before the album release.

  2. Well get this: I'm going from Poland to London show. Imagine how expensive it'll be ;)

About what You wrote: man, you just got into my head and pasted what has been in my mind LOL seriously so many shows and no m&g. Listening events: US or Germany. Why not other countries?

Wow that's awesome. What london date you going to? I'm going to the second show. Still very intruiged about the new album.

Happy that I'm not the only one feeling like we're losing something that was special. I've been very lucky with m&g's in the past, they used to be first come first serve though.

Also does anyone else feel like this 'Decade of LPU' CD is going to just be a rehash of 'Sounds of the Underground'?

  3. And You my friend just earned a beer ;) "LIKE"

As for the ticket price add that some of us have to travel long distances to see LP. It's not cheap...

Thanks for the beer - could do with one at the minute! lol.

It's not going to be cheap for me either :(. Going to one LP show. Tickets worked out as £90 for two. Then a train trip to london will work out as £37 each. If we get merch or anything to eat... it could easily setus back up to £200 ($300). That's 2 people going to see LP once. Heck the LPU gave us free tickets multiple times back in 2003.

Least this year I won't have to worry about customs puting tax on my lpu package... unless I order an LPU CD :/

  4. Yes. We're in the process of making the switch, and you WILL be able to purchase LPU9 merch shortly.

Adam - can I just get this straight.

    So the price has doubled.

The package (which of some of us did actually like, it was the only reason to renew when the band wasn't touring) has gone.

Stuff like the LPU CD you have to pay for now to get a copy.

You get a download of tracks that a lot of us have already got?

Presales - but that won't be useful if the band is not touring in someone's area. And haven't you noticed that ticket prices are doubled aswell since last tour? Fans can't afford them!

M&Greets have declined in how they were. My last M&G experience (the one at MK Bowl), as previously mentioned, I ended up having to organise the LPUers along with two other senior members. Then the band flat out ignored most of us as they were more intersted in two fans who paid £1000 to MFR for their place. Soon after that it was announced that only one band member would attend m&g.

So why the *expletive* has the price doubled? That has yet to be explained. Yeah you might be working on cool stuff, but is that stuff now worth the huge amount extra that's placed on the price? If so then you should really think of how you've advertised this change as you might need to put some of those incentives down to actually show this year is going to be better. 'Coming soon' doesn't explain the price hike. Do these cool things actually apply for international people? Or should anyone not US based just give up with the LPU now?

In the end I care a lot about the LPU, I was a mod, I was on the support staff, I was on the street team when there were only a few of us in the UK. I've spent hours and hours working on and with the LPU and promoting the band in general. I never got paid - and rarely got noticed. So I do care a lot - and do feel that from what's being said that you are now just making everything more expensive. This will promote piracy and the cool things that you make will be replicated if digital, heck as seen it's taken a certain russian site only a few hours to get the 'exclusive' promo track up.

The LPU used to be about not making a profit and also family and friend interaction at shows. Parents used to buy packages for their kids and it was great to interact at shows. At $60 that's not going to happen, and while the shirt might be sneered at by some it was a great distinguisher at shows.

The reason people stopped using the LPU site is that it provided very little in the way of anything different. A messageboard that got so bogged down due to lack of support from admin (I was a mod on it so I know that this was true), a load of social media features that people weren't interested in as they have twitter and facebook. A chatroom that couldn't be controlled. Some videos that were updated once in a blue moon and in most cases were only verging on the side of interesting. How about exclusive articles, live webcam chats with the band - not just user-generated content.

This is from someone who has been there since almost the beginning (I just cliped the end of 1.0), back when you could just log into AIM and chat with Jess. So far I've yet to see anything that justifies a $60 price tag for a year membership. Many of my old LPU buddies plan not to renew so far.

If there is this much negative response from fans, something has gone wrong on the admin side. You maybe about to start the most amazing LPU year ever, if that's the case then you needed to keep quiet about it until you could reveal 'the amazing things you have planned. Now it's a case of winning fans back around... and justifying a $60 price tag.

  5. On another note I have to add that I don't see why a fanclub should make a lot of profit. Doesn't the band have enough money, because we all buy their CDs and go to their concerts and buy the merch, that they can give a little bit of it back to us?! I've already spend so much money on LP, but this is really too much for me now. In my opinion it seems like a fan-rip-off. And I don't know whyt they could offer to justify that price, but we'll see when it comes out.

That's a good point the LPU originally was setup to give back to the fans and to not make a profit. Now seems very money hungry....

  6. Wow mark some of those comments just don't compute and you're at serious risk of becoming very hypocritical. Very hypocritical.

Are you a dumbass? The laser show and NYC show are exclusive events that the LPU is giving you an opportunity to attend. They have nothing to do with the price.

Did you ever think about why they'd raise the price? They aren't going to raise the price to just fuck with the fans. Believe it or not, that's not their goal. Did you ever think that the LPU is probably making VERY little money? Sending out thousands of shirts and stickers that cost a lot to produce...people don't even give a shit about the packages anymore except the CD and sometimes the shirt. It makes sense to just charge you for those items when you want them instead of making everyone buy them. Hell, LPU9 made a vinyl for 1,000 people and as far as I know, it was still available to buy yesterday. 1,000. That's not a lot. There's 10,000,000 fans on Facebook - basically you just saw that 1,000 of those people didn't buy the vinyl. So how the hell is the LPU making money? They give all sorts of stuff out for free now, etc...I don't see any revenue for them.

The show is being used as one of the main pulling points for LPUX. You can't deny that. Think you'll find that spraypaintninkpens was being a bit sarky when he said they're making us pay for it... but to be honest so far nothing has justified the price hike so he was making a flipant remark. Calling him a dumbass is low, and I have come to expect better from you mark, you're a better person than that.

As for the 1,000 vinyl, that's because it was over-priced. There has been a recession and the music industy is currently screwing fans over especially live gigs and fanclubs. Gorillaz is another perfect example. Yes a rabid fan may fork over life savings for a vinyl, hell I was tempted till I saw the price. I'm a fan not stupid. So of course people are not buying it, especially when they get a CD with it on which they can actually listen to.

Makes sense to raise the costs. $10 a month or just get the $60 for a year. They've gotta have some revenue to do some cool shit for the fans. I know they're not just going to have a regular LPU this year - I'm sure they're going to use the extra money to do cool shit for the fans. So if it means I pay $30 more a year for more perks and a BADASS fanclub, I'll gladly do it. Can't afford it? That also might be a point. Wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to weed out a lot of the n00bier fans. I'm also fine with that...LPU has a lot of that...more M&G opportunities, etc for the regular members. That's just my 2 cents.

I'm seriously considering not renewing, am I 'noob' fan? Being a fan is not about money. I have to pay for my house and plenty of other things before LP. I need to live.

The fanclub was BADASS way back in 03, but recently not so sure. The last meet & greet I was at I ended up organising myself with two other members. Then the actual meeting of the band was a bit of a sham. These events don't cost the band anything and generally they're pointless for around 90% of the members.

Maybe if they gave free concert tickets out again it would seem more worth while...

So it's fine with me. $60 isn't for one song. $60 is for another year of the LPU. More perks, more badass stuff from them, more awesome fanclub. I am 110% sure this will be the best year of LPU that has ever existed. The fact I can get a new song I've never even heard of when I preorder the new LPUX is just badass. LPU is improving in great strides.

I don't see anyone in here that's bought the package for just one song.

Do you know what's in store for LPUX? Do you? I don't but that's called being IGNORANT when you bash something without waiting and seeing exactly what's in store and what it entitles you to.

Yes I see a few who have gone 'I'm paying $60 for the song' there is little to no other reason to give the LPU $60 dollars at this time. Yes you'll get benefits later, but I can pay for it later... It may be a great year for LPU but they've told the public nothing, so it could be the worst year too...

  7. It seems like everyone is being billed for the damn laser shows even though most members do not live in NY or LA. People will buy it because its LP. Warner knows that.

Also don't buy this just for the demo. lol at people paying 60 dollars for one song.

It's jsut taking the mick... I spent almost £100 on tickets to see them ($156) for their upcoming show. That was just 2 tickets. Then this LPU crap?

And yes seems crazy people paying $60 for one demo which everyone knows will appear on certain sites very shortly. I used to heavily defend the LPU cds when I helped out with the site... but not when they're pulling stunts like this. They destroyed the LPST, so now time for them to destroy the LPU!

  8. Hang on - I jsut noticed....

Monthly Online LPUX Pass // $10 per month

PER MONTH????? WTF! Normal package membership $60... $120 a year for online??? THat better be a mistake.

  9. Sorry to say but $60 for LPU membership is over-priced. I remember the good ol days in 2003 where it really felt worth it. I even was a mod there, as quite a few of you will know, so ended up working on the site, I still paid my membership. After the horrors that were lpu7 and them finally starting to get it right with lpu9... Now it feels like $60 for a CD and shirt. It seems to be only the older fans who are pissed with this price-hike tho. Maybe cause we have all the CDs so we're not excited about having them on mp3 when we've had them for 9 or 10 years...

And what the hell, a demo for people who preorder? Are WB/LP that strapped for cash? I don't need to renew until March or something so why should I renew? Seems to be just a way to milking fans for cash. Similar to the ATS special editions...

And yes I like the catalyst and I'm very intruiged by the new album so this isn't an anti-ATS rant. This is a long term fan with over 130 official LP CDs (+ skateboards, platinum disc etc) saying the fans need to rebel.

  10. Find it a bit random that you're releasing official material now, even in its destructed form. I've seen the DVD-A about in a few shops recently. So it's not impossible to get. My suggestion is that you just do a tutorial on how to actually rip them. It's not hard and there is free software about that will do it...

Also be aware that there are different quality versions of the tracks (normally is on DVD-A's anyway, can't confirm for the reanimation DVD-A as i'm at work). There'll be the 24-bit versions and then a lossy version, both with be in 5.1, then of course there's the stereo copy but obviously it's easy to tell that version apart! 24 bit version is the best quality but the files sizes can be pretty large.

Back in the day I think I got the original rips but I wasn't impressed fully with them so did my own from my US copy of the DVD.

  11. This says original remix so this is what he remixed of APFMH and sent to LP for consideration before LP got with him and changed it, that's how I understand it.

Welcome to LPL. I use Firefox on a laptop at home and on my desktop PC and post here fine. Not sure what the problem is.

    O_O @ you being alive.

Hmm it's really bizare the textarea to type in is there - you can highlight text, you jsut can't get a cursor in. This is a dev machine and it is spotting a few errors on your page, so maybe it's jsut a bit more sensitive. Will see if it only affects this machine later...

Could be, or it could be that he's created variations. Djs sometimes seem to just call things original mixes when they can just to diffrentiate. I've got a few tracks by different artists called 'original mixes' that are just something created later on... so it's not conclusive proof, but definetly in its favour. I hope it is...

Lol at everyone thinking I was dead ^_^ Nope still here. Nick n Mark must have seen me come online on msn. I've jsut been really really busy, uni, life, work, love, n play! :)

Oh and Nick, I found flac version of the Humble Bros Remix CD-R (I think I gave you the flac for the short, but I found the long in the last few days) want it? Hosting etc?

  12. You're alive!!!!!!

That I am - been super busy tho. Now have a masters in advanced games computing, thus solidfying my geek status. Also work as a professional web dev guy ^_^ woot.

BTW not being able to post on this forum with firefox is hella annoying... lol.

Still trying to decide if this is actually a demo or just a remix used in a live show or something. Does he reply to tweets or anything...?
