  1. Best: Lost in the Echo, Powerless, Lies Greed Misery, In My Remains

Good: I'll Be Gone, Burn it Down, Castle of Glass

    Average: Victimized

Worst: Roads Untravelled, Skin to Bone, Until it Breaks

  2. It was a combination of both One Step Closer and In The End. I remember seeing the music video for OSC on MTV back around the time Hybrid Theory came out and was crept out by the video's cinematography and Mike and Chester's red and blone hair. I didn't know who the band was and at the time, being twelve, i was more into the mainstream Rap and Pop music from that time so I didn't really care for the song.

Several months later, my friend told me about this band called Linkin Park and kept obsessing over their album. I told him I'd check them out and but never did. That was until I saw the band appear on TRL the day after their performance on the 2001 MTV VMA's where they premiered the video for ITE. Right there and then, I became an instant fan. I remember not soon after I saw a TV spot for Hybrid Theory featuring video clips from the OSC video and realized the same band I once didn't care for was now the band I adored.

I kept wanting to buy the album, but both my parents were forcing me to wait to until Christmas..which was still three months away. During those months, I remember having the radio set to 99.5 everyday and waited impatiently for ITE to come on. Once Christmas time came around, all I cared to get was a Playstation 2 and Hybrid Theory. I also remember during the lead up to that year's Christmas, my stepsister grew a liking for the band and requested the album for a gift as well. To my disliking, she ended up getting the album before I did. In fact, it was one of the first gifts she opened. I as bumbed I didn't get the PS2, but when i unwrapped a 5'5"/5' cd that was Hybrid Theory, my spirits were lifted.

I played that album day and night for as long as I can remember up until Meteora arrived. It was because of that album I transitioned from being a Rap/Pop fan to a Rock/Metal fan. Looking back on it now, it's kind of funny. Because now that friend that got me into the band is now more into the mainstream rap/pop music.

  3. After a second listen, I still have the same feelings I did before. Tracks 7-10 sound like unfinished demos and Tinfoil is a complete waste of space. I feel like Roads Untravelled was a missed opportunity. It could have been just as epic as "Iridescent" had it been given a chorus. Victimized was severely overhyped. It's definitely not their heaviest song. In fact, I don't think it's heavier than most of the tracks on Meteora.

  4. 01. Lost In The Echo - 10/10

    02. In My Remains - 8/10

    03. Burn It Down - 9/10

    04. Lies Greed Misery - 9/10

    05. I'll Be Gone - 8/10

    06. Castle Of Glass - 7/10

    07. Victimized - 5/10

    08. Roads Untravelled - 6/10

    09. Skin To Bone - 4/10

    10. Until It Breaks - 2/10

    11. Tinfoil - 2/10

    12. Powerless - N/A (Haven't heard it yet)

    Notes

-I can see what they meant by this album being a culmination of the previous ones. First third is HT and Meteora influenced, second third is MTM, and last third is ATS.

-The album starts off very strong but gradually loses steam after track 5.

-"Lost In The Echo" is the album's best track.

-"In My Remains" is the only song with turntable scratches.

-"Until It Breaks" is the album's worst track and, IMO, one of the worst LP songs to date.

  5. Lyrics anyone? :)

I'm a be that nail in your coffin

    Saying that I soften

I was ducking down to reload

So you can save your petty explanations

    I don't have the patience

Before you even say it I know

You let your pride of your ego

    Talk's looking mean

No, that is not the way I get down

And look at how you lose your composure

    Now let me show ya

Exactly how the breaking point sounds

I want to see you choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

    Choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

What is it you want me to tell ya

    I'm not the failure

I would rather live and let be

But you came with the right kind of threat

To push me to let ya

    No, you can't intimidate me

    You disrepect me so clearly

    Now you better hear me

That is not the way it goes down

You did it to yourself and it's over

    Now let me show ya

Exactly how the breaking point sounds

I want to see you choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

    Choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

I want to see you choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

    Choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

    You did it to yourself

    8x

I want to see you choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

    Choke on your lies

    Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

  6. If the rumors are true does that mean LP will not be playing any arena shows in Australia. Its awesome to see LP playing at Aussie festivals but I would prefer to see them just doing a normal tour.

Not true. They can still do stand-alone shows in between. The festivals aren't back-to-back-to-back, there's a couple day breaks in between some.
  7. HT had rapping in 9 songs, 10 if you count the repeated lines in Runaway, and Meteora had rapping in 8 songs, 9 if you again count the repeated lines in Numb. With MTM and ATS we saw less rapping and more singing from Mike.

This album should be a bit of an even bag. I say will see Mike rapping in 4 songs, singing in 5, and 2-3 songs that either don't feature him or have him singing background.

  8. Not to dwell on the negative but...

“I think there’s a lot of variety on the record. The songs on Living Things tend to be a bit shorter, kinda those firecracker, compact songs that people kind of imagine when they thing of the band."

I knew the first I heard Mike say firecracker record it was gonna be short songs. Hopefully it's only a few of them

I personally don't see that as a bad thing. I mean Meteora had like 5 or 6 songs that were well under 3 minutes and many consider it to be their best album.
