  1. Anyways, I don't think LP would open for Muse. Muse are big in the UK and Europe but in Japan, LP are pretty big. I definitely could see LP opening for Metallica, same goes for Muse.

EVERYONE opens for Metallica. I don't even remember the last time they were an opening act.
  2. I'm really not liking the minimal touring the band have done lately with both this album and ATS. Granted, it most likely frees the band up to release more albums, but considering how much touring they did for the past albums, this is very underwhelming. You got to think if this is a Warner thing to get band back in the studio because Living Things isn't selling as well as past albums or if this is LP's choice or if in fact they've just grown a disliking for touring.

  3. I love all the tracks. The only ones I did not know about before this mix were Trust Company, Snot and Kittie.

Definitely check out The Lonely Position Of Neutral by Trust Company. Great album. Their first two albums were actually produced by Don Gilmore around the time LP was working with him.

  4. LP will end when the sales dry up, that's pretty much the size of it.

I dunno if us diehards could keep LP floating if they tried the whole independent deal...you need to be a gigantic band with legendary status to pull that off. I don't think I need to cite the usual examples.

Their album sales are dropping from album to album but that doesn't at all mean the band is going to give it up once sales become too low. If sales dry up, they'll more than likely be dropped from their label as they'll not want to market or throw money at a group that isn't producing results anymore. Though I highly doubt they'll ever be dropped as LP, along with Metallica, are really the driving force for Warner.

As far as LP going Independent, I don't think that would affect them at all. At this point in their career, LP is a house hold name across the world. They'll still sellout shows and headline festivals all over. They reached "gigantic and legendary status" ages ago.

When it comes to LP calling it quits, I don't see it happening for the forseeable future. If bands such as The Rolling Stones can make still be making music and touring after 50 years, LP can do the same. Though I cringe at the sight of a 70 year old Mike rapping.

  5. If the band is going with more aggressive setlists these days, I think any song that isn't a ballad or slower paced has the possibility to return. However, songs like Forgotten and Hit the Floor will more than likely never return. Not because they're bad songs, but because they don't translate well live.

  6. No one has noticed that with Skin To Bone has finished something from Linkin Park songs: short songs, big screams. If you don't believe go and have a look:

Faint(2.44), From The Inside(2.56), One Step Closer(2.36), Lies Grees Missery(2.26), Lying From You(2.55), Hit The Floor(2.44) and Victimized(1.48), Reading My Eyes(2.55).

    Nobody's Listening (2:58) doesn't have screams.
  7. I can't believe that shitty video won an award. Not their best video by a long shot from the Hybrid Theory era. Then again, its an MTV award which is shit to begin with. And it was probably more about the "most popular song voted by the most rabid fanbase" than the actual video content anyways. And LP looking like a ragtag band of misfits that i would be scared to approach in person today. It's ridiculous how much they've grown and changed.

An MTV music award had credibility back in the day. For instance, that same year (2002 VMA's), P.O.D. was nominated for Video of the Year, and the year before that, Mudvayne won the MTV2 Award. The network respected all forms of music and focused on the creativity of music videos, and not just giving an award to a popular artist for the sake of ratings like they do nowadays.
  8. Finally, I found this video.

I remember seeing that year's VMA's live at a friend's house. Sick nominations too. This was back when MTV cared about rock music and this award actually meant something. Nowadays, you'd get nominations like MGMT, Mumford & Sons, Foster the People, and Goyte.
  9. I've been going to UG.com for years because some of the articles they do are intriguing. A high percentage of the people on there are strictly Metal fans, most of whom know nothing about music outside that genre, and will trash anything that's even slightly different.

I've actually read some comments that are far worse than that. One person commented that he had listened to the album and said that there were "no guitars" on it. Another said: "Linkin Park should make a three piece out of Mike, Chester, and Joe because the others don't do anything anymore."

The one that really gets me shaking my head is when people comment: "They used to make good music, but now they've gotten progressively worse." Really? I didn't know adding piano, live strings, synths, folk, and odd structures to your music was "progressively worse" than the 3-4 note guitar riffs your songs were based on before.

It's laughable at times. Because these are the same people who say Linkin Park needs to "go back to the style of Hybrid Theory", but say bands like Disturbed, AC/DC, and even Metallica need to "do something different".
