  1. Autotune can work with rock, and it doesn't have to make you sound like Kesha or T-Pain.

    Example: http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/song_details/3169205

Sounds like Lil Wayne's rock album to me. Which sounds like a rapper using autotune to sing. I'm sorry but I wasn't trying to say only hip-hop uses autotune. Cher did it first. Well I take that back. People have been using autotune long before Cher but no one messed with the settings to make it sound like the autotune we have all come to know until she did it. Let's all remember that autotune when used how intended is meant to correct the pitch of your voice slightly. T-Pain and Cher just maxed out the settings to get the extreme correction that causes the effect people refer to as autotune.

Back to LP. It's not autotune. If it is I will smash my CD to bits for the world to see. Guarantee it's not though.

  2. i have no problem with that at all. one of my fav. experimental bands The Sound of Animals Fighting would often have interludes and intros and outros and such so i'm coo' with length. i just hope to god, this cd isn't full of radio friendly songs.

like, like, LIKE, FUCKING LOVE! Why do people hate on intros/outros/interludes? LP fans love when they do them live but if it's on the CD its suddenly utter shit...I don't get it. and +1 to the radio friendly comment. Give us 3-4 singles and let the rest be crazy out there depth of the mind kind of stuff.

I'm gonna say this with the utmost respect cause I used to be exactly the same. But the problem with most LP fans is that radio=music to them. Or MTV=music. And now that LP is seemingly moving in a somewhat different direction people don't know what to do. Some of my favorite music in the world will never be played on MTV or the radio, not because of length or profanity but because it's simply not marketable to the average crowd.

I'm going on record saying that if this album is great but different (and we know it's different) and LP loses some of their more mainstream fans, I'll be okay with it. Too many teeny boppers still calling themselves fans :P

  3. I love you to death Ana but I'm gonna go ahead and say you're wrong about autotune. LP has been trying to move away from trends, why in the hell would they do what every single hip-hop artist out there is doing? I'm thinking you must be confusing some type of vocal effect for autotune. It's not the only one out there ya know! Thank you for the info though, really appreciate it. It sounds to me like nobody is going to be able to describe this album to someone who hasn't heard it haha. Bring it on LP, you've got me excited!

  4. I swear if people start bitching about song length before they even hear the songs I'm gonna slap the shit out of somebody. Not every song on the album has to be radio friendly single length material people. Just because they're short does not mean they're instrumental. Sorry, had to rant a little there :)

  5. Wow...read this article. This is how bad Chester used to be with drugs and drinking...it's crazy.

''I took everything, he says. I got really, really bad. I was doing a ton of LSD and a lot of drinking. I got really bad, really quickly. On a normal day, my friends and I would go through an eight-ball of speed. We were smoking it in bongs - I was doing bong-hits of meth. It was ridiculous. Then we'd smoke opium to come down, or we'd take pills, or I'd drink so much that I'd shit my pants. It was not pretty''.

The whole article tells a lot more about his childhood too...wow. I never knew how bad his life really was...

Thanks for the link, I had never read that article.

My view on drug/alcohol use is this. If you can experiment and have fun every once and a while with no addiction then go for it. But as far as Chester it seems he has an addictive personality and being sober is the best choice for him.

  6. Chester has said in numerous interviews that he doesn't drink anymore, or smoke. Look at the Kerrang 2010 DBS interview for example. And Chester didn't just use to drink and smoke pot, he used to do lots of fucking drugs too. Again, read interviews. Like the inked magazine for example, he talks about using cocaine, ecstasy, acid, shrooms, and he was also addicted to methamphetamine as a teenager.

I knew about the other drugs; I have that issue of Inked. I didn't mention them because I don't think he's been really heavy into any of that stuff during the LP days. Maybe every now and then he would, but certainly not anymore.
  7. i wonder if anyone in the band smokes pot or cigs or anything lol

All I know is that Chester used to smoke cigarettes and drink but no longer does either. As far as pot and anything else, who knows but I would say probably not. And Brad does nothing.
  8. If Mike's comment upset Brad so much, I can only imagine how he felt when they toured with Snoop :-p

I would hope Brad is open minded enough not to care if others choose to smoke pot. It's not like Snoop would have said "Oh Brad doesn't smoke? I can't tour with him." I'm assuming he doesn't like Mike's comment because he doesn't want his album labeled as something specifically for stoners. I could be completely wrong here but that's my guess.
  9. One of the better posts I've ever seen on this website. I've heard the whole song, and I think it's great. I'm not just saying that because I work for the band. At the video shoot I stood there with my jaw open. It was something totally unexpected, but it excited me as if LP has been my favorite band forever. That's my opinion, and I don't expect everyone to share it. Just wanted to add to the convo.

I'm honored haha. As someone who has been an LP fan since 2000, since I was 12 years old, I think I will share that same excitement on my first listen. I've grown up with this band and I'm excited that they have grown up too, instead of falling into the trap so many other bands do of staying too static.

    Sigged.

I love your post, that's exactly what i think too.

Haha I don't think I've ever been sigged before...glad some people are with me on this.
  10. I love it. I don't want Hybrid Theory again. I don't want Meteora again. When MTM came out that's what I wanted. But once MTM grew on me and I saw the ideas these guys have when they think outside their "label", I wanted things to progress further. This is doing it in my opinion. Like the guys always used to say, they chose the name Linkin Park because it means nothing. It lets the music define the name. And I believe that is still true to this day.

  11. Typical response by an LP fan who just approves everything they do and makes excuses for them. The cover is plain and boring, i don't get how anyone can say it's awesome. I could have doodled something like this and thats saying something.

I don't have a problem with fans being divided, it's what challenges the band at the end of the day.

Lastly, LP album covers usually suck apart from Hybrid Theory so it's not a big deal to me. Meteora was completely random ( i don't care how the explained it), Minutes was awful, and this one is crap too.

They should have went with this for Meteora ( just the band shot, the title meteora and LP in small font somewhere on the cover)

    This for Minutes to Midnight

Save all the art for the album's booklet. Oh well moving on..

Here's the problem with your whole post. You dont want art on the cover. You want a picture of the band. That's awfully boybandish. Jesus I'd be pissed if either of those was the cover of their albums!

Back to this album...I like it. Simple. Obviously has a meaning but maybe not something the band will say

  12. I have to give a huge fucking round of applause to the LPL community...no one is jumping to conclusions! Like its been said, its 10 seconds and for anyone that says they don't like it, just wait to hear the full song before judging please.

I also have to give a round of applause to LP because after listening to this clip a million times it's got me so excited for what could be. I feel like MTM was a step away from their old image and now they've found a long path to run down.

More like half of A Thousand Suns according to the ATS 6-Track sampler.

    > DJ Intensity

@m_shinoda would like a word with you:

"saw description of 6 of our new songs online. it said "other 6 are hard rock." ha. nobody has heard anything but the first 6."

"Who said there were 12, anyway? I didn't."
