Jay Gordon hasn't done anything else with the band besides one song in 20+ years. Why did he open his mouth now? Even with the rumors having some kind of veracity, I was very confused by his out of nowhere statement.

Watch the video interview. He is very disengaged in the interview and is like, texting on his phone, doing other stuff, not looking at the camera, etc. This is why he's trying to deny (lie) that he even mentioned it or said anything in the first place. It was super casual and he may not have even remembered it was being recorded on video, who knows. he makes a super off-the-wall comment about it when saying he loves LP but he probably thought the interviewer wasn't going to quote him on that. It wasn't ever like he was trying to break some news or something by having an inside scoop, he's just like "best wishes to them, love them, heard they are going the female singer route and hope it works out for them." It's less of "hi I am Jay and here is groundbreaking news" and more of a casual random comment when saying he likes LP and didn't mean to cause a huge ruckus with it. He seemed not super engaged in that interview at all.

So go (presumably) from AAE to WME? In addition to the agency, do they also change the agent (intended as the person responsible for booking)?

Their former agent was with AGI. Arfin was who did LP and isn't with them any longer. This claim by Billboard is out of left field for the public, but is verifiable, which lends to more credibility in their article. They are sticking by their writer Dave on this and his sources.

What happens next will give more context to this article. If there is a big LP announcement on the horizon, this could have even been leaked by a PR machine at the label or band to control the narrative that is in the press and to drum up 2025 offers. Who really knows - not us, at least yet. Ha.

What does this generally imply for the band beyond "They have a reason to need a new agent"?

That's really it. They are fielding show offers and there's no reason to doubt the legitimacy of that, but there isn't more to it other than they see a need to have a new show agent. Which is honestly very surprising considering they had the same guy 2000-2018 before this and Mike was with him too. So, they see some sort of need to change it up.

    Beyond that, let's see.

Awesome stuff, either if it's after, during or before MTM20 I'm very hyped for the full show being released (RME anyone? I'm so f'ing hype for real, I really hope they put it out). Also, did anyone notice how at 1:35 the live video does a weird audio transition between the actual feed and the LPU6 version?

Yeah, it's like they had regular a SBD recording for the majority of the show and mixed it with the already released songs.

Noticed immediately the audio transition you mention. That's because it's a normal soundboard then Ethan properly mixed QWERTY live for LPU 6 and that's what they use for the song. It's not a big difference, it's noticeable but not bad. But he likely hasn't mixed the entire show - probably just the select songs. QWERTY, PMA, BTH, RME for LPU 6, then FTI and Faint for the WID single. That's like half the show though lol.

Would love a full digital release of that full show audio mixed by him one day. Whatever they want to give us.

If we want the full show to be released, we would have to make a request, and for the band to pay attention to our request, as a community we all have to vote, we have to make an effort.

What's up with the Del PR 2003 tour?  I still don't believe that the band hasn't published anything from that tour on Meteora 20

The "problem" with the Meteora tour is that there are just too many epic shows and tours. They could do a completely different box set for Meteora 21 or Meteora 30 lol, and still not cover all the shows. It's unknown if they even filmed a PR 2003 show or recorded one in audio (although audio is pretty likely). They still have Detroit 2003, Reading 2003, San Diego 2004, Rock am Ring 2004, and others they could put out down the road.

Definitely want a Meteora arena show from early 2004 one day. PR 2003 would be cool too.

What do you think when the band officially releases the qwerty video and also on the streaming platform.
should we ask the band to release the full show?
We can mention "Reading my eyes" too. It's a song from the Xero era and the band performed it very well. The set list for this show is incredible.

I think it's worth the effort, we have to ask in the comments so the band can see that we really want this complete show on DVD and even on vinyl and streaming.

We also know that the band to release the Qwerty video took the master tapes. Maybe they've even analyzed the full show and the full show has already been transferred and saved. Maybe it's even been completely mastered.

    well there are several hypotheses..

They DEFINITELY know the fans want this show badly, because they included all of the most-haves / most requested things in all of the box sets (PR 2002, "thoughts that take away my pride", She Couldn't, Pictureboard, PR 2004 show, etc). It'll happen when the timing is right.

  6. The instrumental for QWERTY is really good. Wow - it hits hard.

Maybe they will release the full show before MTM20 since they've decided that it doesn't belong to that era and won't be included.

    Daydreaming

    Would be awesome.

Imagine a surprise next week and they just put the entire show up for preorder? "We heard you liked QWERTY and Tokyo 2006. The full show is up for preorder now." with a vinyl and DVD release. Phew.

  7. How can anyone dislike tribute bands at face value? Even active bands have them - Hardwired follows Metallica on tour and plays around their shows, the night before, etc for example. Even Metallica brings in tribute bands for their 2 show weekends they've been doing lately, around official events.

Of course LP would have tribute bands. The band has not played a show in nearly 7 years and LP is one of the biggest bands in our lifetime - there is a big want to see that music live.

In the End and Hybrid Theory (PT) are doing a great job with setlists and shows. People have a great time at those shows, people who got to see LP and who never got to see LP. It's just to celebrate the music. There's no harm in any of that. The HT band's setlists are really something, that show they have from the arena on YouTube is quite cool. They even play Lost. I'd see that band for sure if they came near me - have seen In the End several times.

LP is on social media and browses it, they've seen these bands multiple times online.

For a greatest hits made for casual listeners...? Don't get your hopes high

There seems to be bigger issues at play here, most notably that the masters for Waiting for the End and Iridescent got swapped out in 2012 and the wrong versions are literally everywhere. Just like Shadow of the Day, No Roads Left, and Across the Line were. That is going to take some sorting out.

  9. Linkin Park has announced on social media that they will be releasing the fan-favorite "QWERTY" (live in Tokyo, Japan 2006) video on YouTube officially for the first time ever. The audio of the song was leaked online in 2006 and then included in the LP Underground 6 CD, but the video has not been officially released until now. It does appear that "QWERTY" (live) will appear on streaming with an audio release as well, judging by what the band has posted on YouTube for audio credits for the video.

LPLive posted a video rip of the song airing on TV in Japan, in 2009, after a very lengthy search to track down the song - this was the culmination of quite an effort to get the video and is the commonly seen video online. The release by the band could be slightly better quality, straight from the master tapes of the show, as well as slightly longer with the Japanese fan at the beginning introducing the song.

Linkin Park's show at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2006 remains one of the biggest sought-after concert releases for the band one day, following big releases by the band for Hybrid Theory 20 specifically with a Projekt Revolution 2002 proshot show, as well as an arsenal of shows for Meteora 20 that feature incredible live versions of songs. Tokyo contains the Xero track Reading My Eyes, QWERTY, and much more.

  10. Someone that is extremely in touch with this mastering situation with LP songs (current and old, like HTEP) is Mike himself. He can really speak to the details on this. Not sure how we'd get this to him but he can really answer your question because he's so involved in this stuff.
