He didn’t but Chester was GD vocalist before he passed away, it’s not like a tribute band of Chester born after his passing  using his vocals. It’s different IMO. But as I said, as long as the music is fucking great, I don’t care, and Amends is one of the best LP related things of the last decade

Nobody argued that he was the vocalist before passing, but was the promotion for Amends really necessary? the way they did it?

Idk man.. glad you enjoy it and worship it tho

Do you think the label saw a big potential in the song ? Because it’s not doing great commercially (not comparing it to LP obviously, but it did less than CAL).

Labels do not only push potentially big songs, they seek revenue for whatever is published

    In conclusion

🟥Anything that Grey Daze releases is a cashgrab no matter what

🟥Mike can do cashgrab stuff and it wont be called a cashgrab (NFT, overpriced products, trendy collabs)

Not anything they release is a cashgrab, but if they use Chesters image, vocals, legacy, etc for the sake of making money; then sorry but those guys are assholes (lets not forget how they milked the LPA lol)

Mike NFT's are pieces of art (that i personally wouldnt buy lol) that he can sell. Is a Picasso painting a cashgrab? to put an exagerated example.

Mike is using his own image and name to sell, GD are using Chester's and LP's.

Thats why in this forum people kind of dislike GD

The artsy/alternative guy forced by the evil label to put out a mediocre song (to be kind) against his will ? Nah.

Do you happen to know how the music business works. Do you think all the interviews he is doing now are because he seeks them? do you think the video, the instastories, the promotion, is stuff he comes up with and not the record label.

We are old enough to know the basics of the industry by now

yeah like releasing a whole album inspired by Chesters death and tour around the world to promote it

PT was not about Chesters death, it was about the process of recovering after a traumatic event.

GD straight up has Chester on it. They milked it, they milked the LPA, they laughed at LP fans, at Mike and kind of, at Chester.

    Mike cashnoda does it again

People working for money what a surprise.

Considering you probably saying this due to the saltiness caused by GD's cashgrab let me point out a difference.

GD is milking Chester's legacy, MS is doing work that has nothing to do with LP or Chester

I really don’t know. Yeah it’s a great topic. As I said before, personally speaking,I’d love  him to experiment with sounds and voice. I think (so maybe somebody will stop thinking I hate Mike no matter what he does) stuff like IOU or even It goes through are really really cool but even the Blackbear-infused pop of Sorry For now is great. Experimenting in those directions would be really good for me.

Those would be good ways. PT was an excellent start with songs like Over Again, IOU, Promises or Running from my Shadow

Yeah they’re not, but in fact I don’t wish he would make HT/Meteora part 3.0 in 2021, it’d be so out of place and time. 😊

So what do you really expect him to come out with? this could be a good topic to talk about

Criticizing someone’s music the way I did is disrespectful? I NEVER said personal stuff about Mike and I’d NEVER go that path. If you think the Disney meme was disrespectful well...sorry for hurting your sensibility... Amyway, despite me being bias towards Chester (that’s true) my criticisms towards Mike is due to the high consideration I have for his music skills, I know he’s capable of A LOT MORE. That’s all for me. I said multiple times that if LP comes back I’ll be super curious and excited and emotionally involved, I never ever (ever) said “LP is just Chester” 😊

He is capable of a lot more  but remember that HT and Meteora are not really much more difficult to make than PT or HE.

ATS would be more difficult, but i doubt thats what he would enjoy making right now

ATS isn’t cringe but it’s not good to me for various reasons. LT is cringe though as well as anything made after it. I still have the same opinion as I did when I was 15 about music idc.

At 15 its normal to think HT and Meteora are dope and LT and THP are cringy. Then one grows up and starts to cringe with HT and Meteora and enjoy calmly what came after, which is what happened to the band

I wrote the song with UPSAHL and Samantha Ronson and Pete Nappi, and Sam and Pete are on Disney"

I dislike the new Shinoda, he's like the total opposite of what he was all about.

I mean, Shinoda on LP has a sound, and Shinoda alone has a different one.

If this is what he enjoys doing, why not? Id rather have this music than him talking bout gangs, guns, drugs, cash, sluts or whatever

My problem is that if he releases an album in the mood/style of Happy Endings (and even Open Door) my interest is like super super low, and that’s sad. I mean I’m not comparing him to LP it would be very wrong to do it, but new Mike doesn’t excite me as it should (and as I hope it would). I mean I see some of you being excited for the jams and even Happy Endings and I totally lost track with that feeling. So that’s why I wish Mike would go “fuck I want to go full experimental even if this sells 5000 copies”.

Problem is Mike experimentation goes on the HE way, instead of ATS experimental, to say one example.

Mike solo does not have the strenght that LP has, and he can not release things for the sake of pleasing fans due to label restrictions. Therefore, i think its quite obvious hes gonna put out stuff only if there is demand (as there was for PT)

That's not the point at all. It's not about getting as big as they are right now. ATS could stand on its own. Even without the history of LP I would consider it as an album that I would be interested in and I would understand if it is successful.

The point is its not the same to release a debut album or a follow-up album.

I highly doubt ATS would have had the same commercial and popular success if it was the bands first album

it can have more than you can think of it right now.

I think PT didn't done great because the first single wasn't the best as to choose it as the main from the album. Also, the first 3 tracks were released few months earlier, maybe Mike shouldn't include them to full album.

I really dont think this album has anything to do with PT. PT was his take on the feelings of Chester passing, shared with the closest fans so they could get closure

It seems everyone forgot about Mike doing the same thing with Post Traumatic. He released an EP and said he might do more if it's well received.

That's a sad statement and fits in the sellout narrative. It's like he won't release music for the fans, but for the masses with the sole purpose of making money.

He belongs to a label, he needs to justify the investments. He is not in a place where he can just put out music freely for masses to share without a profit for him/the label

Whenever I am listening to a new release I am wondering if that artist would be successful if that release would be their first release.

So in general if you need an existing fanbase to hype it up and make it worth putting out (and you kinda rely on that) the answer most probably is no and it is questionable if anyone needs that release in the first place.

I can't make assumptions about Mike's upcoming release, just a general thought.

I personally don't want an album for the sake of an album. I want an album if and when he thinks that he has some really good stuff (which he eventually will have, no doubt) and he wants the world to hear it. Otherwise I can't be excited about it.

Debut albums have nothing to do with the following ones. On a debut album the artist shows a first glimpse of its sound, not completely defined, that can portray in which direction the music of the artist can go.

Would LP be where they are if their first release was ATS?

  15. I think its easier than that. He did not want HE to even come out. People insisted so he put it out. Mike is a smart guy, he doesnt want to publish an album that would flop, giving him bad press and rep with the label. Therefore, smartly enough, he will put out an album if the numbers justify the risk. Hey, thats exactly what companies do before launching a product

  16. Classic video that you would see in the screens of HM or Forever 21.

With that said, if he only cared about popularity he would comfortably make a song with Eillish or similar, instead he chooses upcoming artists. Good for him, hes having fun

At this point there's already so much stuff out there that it's actually boring and hard to keep up.

I dont think CoronaJams are serious enough to keep track of all of them. Its not like its singles, its literally him teaching people how to make beats.

The song is 500.000 plays  on Spotify and 200.000 on YT, the best that could happen is it going to be like “Crossing a Line” kind of big, (not Linkin Park kind of “big”). It all depends on what Mike means for big. Personally, I’m open to a new album, not thrilled because I don’t like the song, but I didn’t likeHeavy that much when it came out but turned out loving OML, so I’m not saying “NO” to a Mike album. We’ll see.
The thing is, if putting out a super trendy and catchy tune like this (even a bit TIKTOK friendly) doesn’t bring him at least a bit of mainstream success, is it considerable as a flop ?

It would be a flop if he wanted to make bare money out of it. He didn't even wanna publish the song lol whatever comes is gonna be a success
