I’ve never really seen this discussed but how would you guys feel about the band returning but to play shows only? As in no new music but as a touring band maybe with guest vocalists or just Mike and having the crowd sing Chester’s parts? Might be kind of cool. I feel like this way fans wouldn’t be upset that Chester was being replaced as they wouldn’t be doing new music but we could still get LP shows.

With LINKIN PARK shows moving forward, they will have every opportunity to dig deeper into their catalogs. Mike could revive the HIP-HOP medley, High Voltage in full, heck even majority of Reanimation because it's been re-imagined HT as hip-hop/electronica. Mr. Hahn can have 10 minutes of highlights with Rob Bourdon (probably Session). Bring Phoenix to showcase his cello skills or let him play the violin part of In Between. Each members have their own moment to shine.

I meant samples. Anyway, if you use something like the Moscow intro to open your show, believe me that if they were doing that without paying anything, Warner would have noticed. We're not talking about an small underground tribute band.

how did you know all about these information?

I dislike bands that dont have the approval of the actual band. the HT fake band is already playin in arenas and festivals, thats messed up.

i dont mind cover bands playing clubs.

Totally messed up. I can't believe that they are booked for Rock in Rio for festival show.

FF will debut #1 in the billboard rock and alternative airplay chart. LP still big as fuck

This is a sign that LINKIN PARK is still missed by many. A comeback album would be even bigger if the time is right.

P.S. - What will going to happen to the HYBRID THEORY band when the real, legit LINKIN PARK comes back?

  5. 1. Stopped working with Don Gilmore - With third release, they can go bigger than HT and Meteora combined. Could even bigger than Rick Rubin's Minutes to Midnight. If we got, let's say BRONTICUS as their third album with Don Gilmore, easy commercial success.

    2. Worst decision for stating that, "We don't make albums like we used to, We check the list of collections of songs and release it as an album" - They should've had take risk after ATS. Go crazier with their sound. Releasing LT was a total regression from ATS and I was disappointed when it came out.

    3. Self-producing THP -  God, they couldn't even get someone to guide them with that album. They should hire an external producer.

    4. Decision-making in choosing songs that ended up in OML (album) - FF is the pure definition of pure LP sound. The drums are crisps and articulated, the production is top-notched and no trap beat sounds quirking in the background.

    5. Mike being avoidant with Hybrid Theory and Meteora sound - It's clear that they were exhausted with those sounds. But Mike should remember that they are on top above everyone else with that sound. No one can do better with that sound beside LINKIN PARK. He got cocky lately with his statements that revisiting that sound is not challenging anymore. He added that it's gonna take him 30 minutes to write an album with that CLASSIC LP sound.

Im reading all comments and you know what I think, stop crying. We all know OML was not the best album and from this time all songs sounds similar. I can bet if they make next album would be banger, but Chester not with us, so we never know how it could sounds. Im just happy to hear any old new song, because its someting extra, still hope we will get full songs from mtm/LT or AS which was not got through final cut.

We just want a new CLASSIC LP Record. No gimmick. just pure CLASSIC LINKIN PARK.

  7. They're pulling a Taylor Swift situation here with the vinyl. That marketing chick really stir these corporate minds in making more vinyl variants.

I have no problem with these variants as long they have different tracklist on it. For example, swap QWERTY with Final Masquerade, swap LOATR with Shadow of the Day, Swap SIB with FTI, swap Crawling with Given Up, etc.

About Friendly Fire :  after a couple more listens,  I appreciate the track a bit more, but it is definitely nothing spectacular IMO.

One thing that bugs me is how the instrumental gets no space to breath. From second 1, Chester is singing over a nice but forgettable sonic background. Everything feels compressed into the typical mid-tempo verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus structure. Take the same melodic idea, the same guitar layers, the same synths, but play a bit more with the dynamics,  add some short but sweet instrumental parts, experiment a bit more, and I'd like the song a lot more.

Nothing against the "verse/chorus" thing in itself. But if you go for it, I feel the song need to have other highlights to really shine, and I don't see those highlights here.

an acoustic bridge segment divided into 2 sets where the rhythm guitar on the second set kicks in before going back to the last chorus would be cool.

I am completely pulling this out of my ass, so I am probably wrong...that being said, I got the feeling that the LP/Warner contract is ending soon and Warner wants to squeeze the cow as much as possible. AFAIK they renew the contract every 10 years or so. I have no idea what would happen if LP won't renew...there might be a shift in royalties, merch rights, distribution rights etc etc. as I said, no idea what would actually happen if they dont sign, but it fits my cow-milking theory.

    As mentioned here, the band probably renewed their contract for 5-album deal during OML era. If you count it chronologically;

    - One More Light LIVE

    - [HYBRID THEORY] 20

    - METEORA 20

    - Papercuts - Singles Collection 2000-2023

    - ???

Who knows what would be the 5th release on this deal. Idk, it could be the final studio album, who knows.

I think a good chunk of Mike's not getting a lot of success is that whenever he comes to conversation a lot of people have no idea who he is. I run into this pretty often, until I say ahh the guy that raps in Linkin Park, and then everyone goes "Aaaaaaahhhhh....." I think just by carrying the Linkin Park name, whether they get a singer to deal with the parts Mike can't reach or if they do new stuff just with him, it would be more successful than his solo career.

However, there will be people complaining that LINKIN PARK will never reach the same the same success with chester.
fact but we need to move forward with an open mind.

In my opinion I'd answer yes with no doubt. The only thing I'm begging to get it's the band clarifying if they will continue being active with pre-2017 stuff or if there will be some new production. The doubt kills the fan base at this point after 7 years of hiatus

I think pretty much of the majority of fans wanted LP to continue with a fresh direction post-Chester era.

I don't think that the tracklist is about numbers exactly.

I've been around since the release of Crawling I don't really care about the tracklist but if you close your eyes and go back in time you'll remember that every song on this compilation was huge in the moment that was released.

This release is just a big excuse to release Friendly Fire.

Who is going to buy a OML boxset in 2037? Seems unlikely.

Can LINKIN PARK still make huge singles post-Bennington era?  Not with the unreleased Chester vocal songs but with Shinoda-led LINKIN PARK new singles.

It doesn't matter if people like THP much or not. There are songs on it that are solid, but there are songs on it with a lot of streams. 126 million for Final Masquerade isn't exactly a small number. It may be compared to other LP songs but that's a legit amount of streams. What does matter is choosing to exclude one of the main studio albums on a "Singles Collection" (they intentionally are not calling it a Greatest Hits). There are only seven main studio albums. There is plenty of room to include 1 THP song (a single) somewhere, somehow, especially when there is time left over on the CD for more music. Again, this is coming not even from a place of thinking THP is epic - it's coming from "excluding an entire album on a Singles Collection is a very weird move."

We'll see what Mike Shinoda would say to the press when Friendly Fire premieres.

The band played it safe with Papercuts. 90% of the tracks scream "you know us for this". Rather to try to impose their own tastes. ATS is the band's favorite record but they know casual fans still doesn't like it, it makes sense that WFTE is included, since it's very amicable. Even though tracks likeCatalyst and WTCFM are GREAT, somebody used to "classic" LP might find it weird. WFTE is a good teaser for those who really have curiosity.

The saddest part, of course, is that they even don't trust in THP. I don't think they hate it, but everything related to that album was a trainwreck. It makes sense that omitted it.

But the biggest oddball is Qwerty. I have the theory that, thanks to the success to Lost, LP knows that casual fans crave for that heavy-yet-catchy sound. Giving them an obscure track that reminds to the Nu Metal era, makes some sense.

What makes sense is that THP is the least of WB's concern, the label did not like THP at all. It's like the band's black sheep of their catalog. That's fine. It's the most annoying record, IMO. The vocals, the arrangements, etc. nothing stands out when you listen to that album. I always snoozed when I'm listening to THP and that is weird because I always jam to their other albums but THP doesn't hit me like the other releases. Sometimes, I lower down the volumes because it gets so loud that is quite irritating to the ear.

I cant stand this bad bad bad artwork. Aldo for me, QWERTY and nothing from THP is very dissapointing.

But it's Frank Maddocks, he usually make great artworks especially HT and Meteora. Maybe they just want something minimalist this time around.

i dont know much bout Grammy but they dont really like Rock, Metal music. They all planted. They just nominated those bands to make ppl watch the show. I cant recall what year but Lorde won best rock music. It’s a total joke. Eminem already f**k the Grammys because he knows how the system went

    Lorde? best Rock? wow.

  17. Why LP is not getting enough attention from the Grammys? What's the criteria to win? Unless, if you're Taylor Swift, easy win. but what really makes hard for LP to get a Grammy? is it the production of the album? does it based on who's the best producer out there?

  18. 1 minute ago, Stranger said:

Machine Shop should be reviving back as a proper record label for LINKIN PARK only.

for Numb/Encore, people treat the song as its own. also, the song is really huge single, it will be crazy for LP to leave the song from the GH collections.

and that song won at the Grammys. so it's a big deal for LINKIN PARK.

this sums up everything. 100% agree. anyway, cant wait for QWERTY on DSP!

it's always the label thing. i remember when Avenged Sevenfold wanna break the contract with WBR back in 2016, suddenly the label released a compilation album features A7X greatest hits in a disc. the band doesnt want it but the label said, that's the only way. so yeah, i believe this Linkin Park greatest hits releases most likely label idea, forcing the band, especially after they see "LOST" making lots of profits last year.

I really hope LP can make their own label, just like Metallica with their BLACKENED RECORDINGS.

What about Machine Shop Recordings? is that still a thing? Or the Fort Minor, Inc.?

I didn’t even know we were gonna get a Berlin 14 DVD! I found it weird that the Austrian THP DVD included a set from 2012

    Australian Tour Edition.
