Theres always a reason to criticize... some of you guys deserve the band just calling it quits and going silent

lol imagine calling it quits and being upset over an album cover and title... just completely throw yourself out the window lol xD And disregard the music inside.

We'd never even heard of "Lost" before it was out. We knew the demo, yes, but the final song is so different it almost doesn't count. We barely even recognized it because the vocal hook had completely changed.

I'm just one person and I make a minimum of 55 demos a year as a hobbyist (one a week!), I can't imagine what sits on LP's drives that they just haven't told us about.

Ughhh this is so cool to wonder about! Also, i don't know if this is really happening but to hear this youtuber mention ''Out Of Reach'' is really cool to hear. Seems like there's a lot of talk and were prob going to get a secondary single. Fingers crossed!

Jeez, now I feel bad for getting people's hopes up! It's probably not gonna happen guys-- but it is pretty fun to think about.

Ehh, honesty just talking about these things is what makes these hype trains so fun. While we’re all on board we might as well.

Could they accomplish that with a recent studio recording of Looking for an Answer?

Someone probably has more info than me on this but the last I recall of this song is what Mike said at the Hollywood bowl and that’s a maybe! My curiosity is spiked regarding this song and its future. It would be amazing to see it make its way to the airwaves as a finished track during the return of Linkin Park.

Track 14 being a surprise new single from the band recorded recently would be the biggest swerve.

I'm not holding out much hope for that. But I can certainly dream. It would be a good place to re-establish something if you're not dropping an album soon. Like, "hey, we're active again, here's something we all like and are releasing as a statement of intent, see you next year". Or something.

Now to think of that, it would be such a badass but also original (has anyone done this before?) way to release a new comeback single. How else do you get the attention of EVERY era of LP fan there is to say ''Hey, here's why you loved us, but here's a chance to stick around''.

I would not include that because it's areally rough demo, totally lacks a chorus and a bridge, not ebven Mikre mumbling "nananana", but it's good to have it

I only saw this as a window of opportunity to share this cover of A6 i rapped on with Matt Se7en where we also wrote to complete the song using some original parts. Maybe you'd find it interesting!

Yeah we are talking about 6 unreleased songs (MTV, FM, Lost, Massive, Healing Foot and Friendly Fire) with vocals (possibly 7 with track n. 14 of this release)in a year. Amazing

basically, we got a new Linkin Park EP. I've got an itch these tracks are only the first of so many more unreleased tracks. If we take into consideration MTM and moving forward from there.

I haven't been following social media much in general lately, so imagine my shock when I get an email from Linkin Park that Friendly Fire is out friday! When Mike talked about this song a few years ago I thought it would be saved for an anniversary release, but it makes sense to keep the momentum going after the success of M20. I wonder what other surprises might be in store for LP fans this year, still hoping for Mike to announce a tour.

I've just got to avoid playing that snippet too many times before the full release. Getting to hear anything new with Chester let alone a fully finished song is such a gift, this last year has been amazing for fans.

This last year really was massive for LP fans. We have been so blessed and nobody saw that only a year after lost we'd continue getting new LP music. I don't care what Era they throw at us, or in this case, all at once with the greatest hits, as long as we have more new LP music for years to come.

  8. I want to clarify why i don't like Alits. It's a great track instrumentally, the thing that made me hate it was Chester's vocals... and the lack of melody and even mixing in his voice. It sounds like Chester was just yelling at the mic rather than singing with aggression. The melody used is a bit too static or underwhelming, not sure how to describe it. It feels like the instrumental and even Mike's rap part and singing are all great moments paired with something so lack luster, like a missed opportunity by Chester just like Drawbar was with Tom, you know to really shine their best on such a track. So, really i blame Chester's parts or whoever wrote them (mike prob, or somebody enlighten me here). If Chaz had sung something more melodically catchy while still keeping that aggression, we all know and love, this would hae been my favorite song on the album easily. I guess i was just dissapointed overall. If someone else's ears picks up the complete opposite, then I envy you lol. Wish i could hear it the same but i don't.

THP doesn't deserved a spot. That album was whack.

For me, it came out when I was a junior in high school and at that time, metal was my favorite genre of music so THP really satisfied my cravings for heavy music and for LP to return to some familiar territory. It’s got some incredible moments on it. I only skip over War, and A line in the sand, those songs are boring.

  10. I’m wondering if track 14 is indeed a THP b side because there isn’t a track from that album anywhere else on the list. That would be a neat way to fill that void for those fans who aren’t happy with the fact there’s no THP on the album. I also think at least one single deserved a slot.

  11. It only took 2 listens to fall in love with it. It's actually giving me slight ''What Are You Worth'' Vibes, especially in the instrumental, but with Chester on vocals instead. It has the really big wall of sound approach that WAYW also has. I hate that they cut both of those songs because OML could have used some louder Anthem like tracks to add variety to the overall pop sound.

  12. I have no clue why they cut healing foot. It's now one of my most favorite LP songs because it's somewhat reminiscent of in the end in the rap verses with how they mixed Mike's voice while his flow is so addictive and catchy, but then Chesters vocal melody and lyrics in the chorus sound so Meteora-esque and massive. That entire song also sounds so heavy while still remaining melodic and fragile to some degree, which is what they wanted to capture back then. Just the rob drum video we had for years was so repayable and stuck with us hardcore fans for so long, so when the full song released, it was like finally discovering a long-lost secret.

again, and I’ve said this before to someone who said the same thing, no he never abandoned Lost’s mix. It made it to sequencing which came after all the songs were fully mixed and mastered so It was fully finished and ready to be put on the album. Mike called the song “a done deal”. Brad said they took it out of the album because they didn’t know where it would go on the tracklist.

I think that issue is because it’s only the CD rip that’s online, which doesn’t deliver the fullness of the song through a lot of modern speakers, aside from stereo systems. Ive listened to the 2002 mix in my home studio and it sounds way better than it does through a laptop speaker and even airpods

I could be wrong and stupid though, and misinformed about how things work. But I think CD quality has its limitations in today’s modern CD-less world.

Interesting...i was only guessing, but that's good to know. I can tell I am not the only one who agrees Andy made some questionable mixing decisions on Lost. Because i'm also listening from my home studio speakers and also headphones and the main thing that stuck out to me is that muddy boomy 808 beneath the bass guitar in the chorus, where those frequencies def clash in a not so clean way. Plus, Chester's vocals sometimes sounding a bit buried, but the guitars never bothered me, actually that's why it sounds like Meteora so it never stuck out as too loud to me personally. I grew up with Meteora as well, so we def understand what a 2000's LP era mix sounds like, but in my opinion, this one could have been better by Andy. Maybe he mixed this one last and as a engineer myself, I understand at some point ears get tired and fatigued, but if there's a deadline, we have to keep going. In the new mix, that 808 is still there but it's cleaned up and tucked in with low volume so it doesn't mess with the other low-end frequencies so we can tell it was addressed by Manny.

    All?

Andy's mix suck man, the guitars are insanely loud, the vocals are a little bit drowned, the synths are very low, the bass sounds muddy.

I agree, i mean it's not terrible, but i believe he only got to a point in the mix and didn't finish it. That's what it sounds like because the rest of Meteora sounds amazing. It's like they decided to cut the track mid mix down because they started to really hear the album come together sonically and at this point they needed to cut some tracks.

Probably right about that. If it could get sorted out somehow, it might happen. But no hopes, and certainly not any time soon most definitely.

A completed song from the final Hybrid Theory sessions would be cool. I know we have a lot of the bands first 1997 thru 1999 demos but i’m talking about 2000, recording at NRG. Thought I read Jeff Blue said there were 14 recorded with 11 + Cure for the itch making the album? High Voltage was one unreleased, the other two though..? idk. I was thinking maybe Carousel and And One but if the other ones are known, or there aren’t any others, or we don’t know, again not sure much of that.

I've always wondered this! I was never sure if we ever heard all the 1999-2000's era Hybrid Theory tracks.

I leave for a few months, and check in on a topic that has fuck all to do with Already Over and yet this threat has spiralled into witless, unfunny, repetitive jokes. It’s not like we don’t have plenty of other Already Over topics as it is, but you guys seem to be so obsessed with it that it has to be in every topic.

This forum has become a shell of its former self, it’s just filled with trash. Y’all call Mike out for ‘milking it’, but so are you.

One cunt spent several posts trying to convince everyone why THP was ‘trash’ - this community always has SOMETHING to moan about and it’s old and boring.

mods: PLEASE ban me. I don’t have the willpower to stop myself coming here and being a prick to others (that in my opinion deserve it)

I make my very first Already Over joke and I guess it was the final trigger for you LMAO 😂 Nice to have you back.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Friendly Fire by name given that Mike confirmed it was finished and mixed

I wonder if this is just the label trying to recreate the success of Lost or what. I'm gonna set my expectations for an anniversary release or greatest hits of some sorts, but damn I'll be thrilled if it's truly a new song written after 2017.

THIS!! And Mike even mentioned how much Chester loved that song. I remember Mike saying this in either one of his live YouTube sessions or somewhere. I also remember the title  ''Painted Me Wrong'' on a sticky note during OML sessions, so I wonder how many finished OML songs didn't make the cut aside from ''Friendly Fire''. I bet it's going to be this song, that's my guess! And probabaly as a single like new divide as someone mentioned previously.
