  1. Not that it's a huge deal compared to the other stuff we got in M20, but...I remember "Attached" coming out in 2016 as a part of LPU 15. It was right around my last year of high school & I have a lot of feelings attached to this demo for some reason. I'm so glad it's on streaming now 🤍.

I'll post it one last time, but I assume people will ignore it because it doesn't fit their narrative: Living Things, One More Light and the new Lost mix sound the way they do because that's how the band wants them to sound, not because of the person who mixed it.

100% - Also, maybe a controversial take, but while the 2003 mix is great for nostalgic purposes (it matches the Meteora mixing more)...I think the new mix was definitely a part of the reason the song popped off so much recently airplay and streaming wise.

Both mixes sound great, but it's not like the new mix was something the label did unilaterally. Mike, Brad and much of the rest of the band were likely involved in the new mix and it really helps breathe new life into the song.

That LPA letter is in the press copy, I think. Not the main copy.

Ahhh yeah, that makes sense! Really cool letter though, heartwarming.

Haven’t had a chance to go through everything yet, but going in blind and realizing that Cumulus had a demo with vocals was absolutely insane. Still need to go through the rest - and watch the DVDs

The HQ versions of Live in Texas being uploaded to YouTube was such a surprise. Such a major upgrade.

LP really put in their all during the M20 rollout, I have a lot of casual listeners of LP on my Instagram posting stuff about M20, it’s a awesome to see

  3. This was actually pretty dope. I loved the song. It's wild that they sat on a demo like this for so long, though i get why they didn't put it onto Meteora.

While it is enjoyable, I do see how it got voted off the final tracklist. It reminds me of Phoenix's quote from the dvd "we wrote our sophomore album...and then we just junked it."

I def can see this - still so happy we got this.

  4. I’m a little disappointed about the AI generated music video stuff, mostly cause of the ethical issues surrounding how AI art is created.

It would have been cooler if they ended up actually using a studio for the anime-inspired bits. The video still looks cool though.

The roll out for this almost feels like a proper single roll out, rather than what we got for She Couldn’t for example, which is exciting! I’m happy we’re getting such a massive rollout.

I love this image how it is taken from different angle than original. It looks like it was taken right now, not like in 2003.

I really like the typeface they're using here and the overall look. It's a nice refresh to the classic Meteora cover picture (really digging the blue hue as well).

This 20th anniversary release seems like it's going to be good, and I'm super excited, especially with all the demos we're getting, a lot of cool stuff!

I can def see LP releasing "Lost" similarly to how they released "She Couldn't" and the In The End Demo as singles before the whole thing drops.

  6. Man I haven't had a chance to play around with the site myself yet cause life has been hectic, but I had to interrupt my work day for this. We finally got that In Yourself = Pictureboard theory everyone had a while ago confirmed. DAMN.

    Linkin Park are wild man.

  7. No. With the exception of a percentage of artist royalties paid directly to band members because they're Warner Brothers artists appearing on a Warner Brothers album, people who perform on a song but aren't credited as songwriters (in this case, Rob, Dave, and Joe) don't receive ANY royalty money. Mechanical royalties, synchronization, and live performance royalties exclusively go to songwriters.

    Great article explaining this: http://www.tunecore.com/blog/2011/08/im-in-a-band-but-im-not-the-songwriter.html

This doesn't necessarily mean the other 3 guys aren't getting paid. There might be some arrangement between them, the label, and the credited songwriters where they receive an overall share of profits regardless of where they come from, or they could be under contract to Linkin Park in a way that the band essentially functions as their employer and they're getting paid a certain amount of money regardless of what they do (in which case, you could argue that they're not technically "band members" anymore). But regardless, something changed, because the previous six albums always credited all members equally.

Could someone explain to me why only Brad, Chester and Mike appear in the writing credits?

does that mean that the rest of the band won't get royalties? It's confusing for me.

So I was searching through the BMI database and this question popped into my mind again. I decided to check out the listings for Good Goodbye and Heavy, and it seems like all members are credited as songwriters. Why they aren't all getting credited on album artwork like before, I have no clue. Maybe the band wants to credit the actual lyricists of the songs on album art, but who knows.

    Good Goodbye BMI listing

    Heavy BMI listing

Side note, anyone know why Dave is getting credited under PRS now instead of BMI, it seems new, as the only entries under this one is from OML

  8. I don't know what tracks they should release for this year LPU but i just want them to re-release XERO demo tape in high quality. Why i'm asking for this because this year, marks 20 years of the XERO demo tape. Come on LP, you should release it.

The Xero demos that LP has are probably the same quality that we already got, at least for the original versions, I don't know how good Mike's mastertape would be. It was probably a "metal" tape which is granted, higher quality then regular tapes (and it's what those 4-track recorders used), but who knows how bad it's deteriorated after 20 years.

There is another possibility that there are re-tracked and re-recorded versions of the songs, I mean we already know there's a "HD" version of Rhinestone with Mark, I'm willing to bet at some point before Mark left that they re-recorded some of their catalog possibly in a ProTools session.

  9. It's really strange that they could answer the hard questions with information about things happened 15 years ago, but not how many tracks there are on ATS.

I'd bet most of them were not present when the +40min A Thousand Suns piece was divided back into songs and interludes. Coincidence or not, Mike was the one who got the closest, saying 14 tracks

I mean ATS was meant to feel like one long experience, them not really remembering how many tracks are on that album really speaks volumes of how it was successful they were at achieving their goal.

  10. I fucking love this song, probably my favourite out of the 3, Mike's flow, while it may be a bit different than what he does, sounded great for this song. Mike doesn't have to have the same flow every song, I liked the switch up.

    Couple other things:
    1) There are live drums in the song, you can hear them in the chorus.

    2) There is live guitar in this song, and it sounds really nice. It fits it well, I really see what Brad was saying in that interview

    3) Those things are not perquisites to make the song good, I never got into LP for the the guitar or drums or whatever, it was how they're mixed, and this song does that well.

  11. Could someone explain to me why only Brad, Chester and Mike appear in the writing credits?

does that mean that the rest of the band won't get royalties? It's confusing for me.

Bump, I think @Astat can answer that better, but I think they all still get some amount of royalties cause they're still credited as "Music preformed by Linkin Park" along with each members label imprint being credited at the back of the LP single
