  1. Minutes To Midnight and The Hunting Party are the only albums that doesn't sound similar to another.

I kinda disagree here. In my opinion, MTM is the only Linkin Park record THP shares similarities with. Yeah, MTM is definitely a lot softer, but it's the only truly guitar-based record they had released before THP.

  2. Are there any other songs where he uses autotune?

And, by the way, I'm still confused about the GATS autotune. Why do they use it there, the verses are extremely simple, it's not like they're very demanding and impossible to hit.

  3. I would add:

What happened to Mark Wakefield after he left Xero?

This is an answerable one - he went on to manage a band called Taproot. He also did a song called 'Barack Your World' with Mike Shinoda under the name 'White Pegacorn' in 2008.
  4. I'm hoping the rest of the songs on the album are mixed better than GATS if they are spending all this time tweaking the songs.

What, you believe GATS is mixed the way it is because they didn't have enough time and just gave us an early unmixed version?

I hope the album's mix is raw as fuck.

  5. Pretend to Be was written after MTM, as far as I know. Mike was writing some stuff for Linkin Park's fourth album, which he later abandoned as he felt it was too similar to Minutes to Midnight.

Not Alone - I believe it was started during the MTM sessions. Whether it was a finished song and they just changed the lyrics or it was a rough demo, we could only guess.

  6. Yes. They are not the band I listen to most at a lot of occasions. Hell, there are sometimes weeks or even months when I listen to LP like 10 times at all. Most of the time, there are at least 2 or 3 different bands I listen to more than Linkin Park. But Linkin Park is the only band that excites me so much, the only band I follow like crazy when a new album is being recorded, the only band I know every song of, and, of course, the first band I became a fan of when I was still a kid. I've heard tons of awesome music since then, found a lot of other favorites, but LP is the band I'll probably call 'my favorite' even after 30 years.

  7. I'm not familiar with how things went at this festival, but the ones picking the line-ups at festivals are usually the promoters, not the bands. It's highly unlikely that LP picked those bands. Whether they were asked how they felt about the other performers or not - we'll never know, but I don't find that very plausible, either.

  8. I accidentally bumped into a 2005 article from a Bulgarian teen magazine, entitled 'Linkin Park's secrets'. I've heard of most of the stuff, but there are several things I never knew, so I'm curious whether they're true.

The first one is not that important, but is Mike really shortsighted and wearing contact lenses all the time?

The other one is concerning Rob. The article says that Rob's mother was a close friend with Joey Kramer, Aerosmith's drummer. It was Joey who first taught Rob to play the drums. I've never heard of that, but I found similar information on Google. It only says Joey gave Rob his first kick pedal, though, but then adds that one of Joey's ex-girlfriends is Rob's mother. Which one is true?

  9. I'll say that Larrabee is ONE of the places the new album is being recorded...but it wasn't the location I was referring to. I don't know how much of the album is being recorded in each specific location (Mike and Joe's home studios, Larrabee, and...??? ;)), so Larrabee might be the "main" location, it might not be. And again, they're not recording at NRG at all this time around. Whether that's intentional or just the way things happened to work out, we'll probably never know.

The guys at LPA mentioned Eastwest Studios in LA. Guess that's the one you're referring.
  10. Okay, it's about time they hit Bulgaria, but let's not be the 'COME TO BRAZIL, PLEASE!!!' guy. I do hope so, but if not - Romania again, please? Or Serbia for the first time? Even Greece might work out, although I prefer the former two. Can't wait to see the band for the very first time! The crowds here (especially Bulgaria and Serbia) are insane, give us a chance!

  11. Okay, I know most of us are hardcore fans, who know basically everything about the band, but I'm sure we all had one of those 'wow, did they really do that?' or even 'damn, is that Linkin Park?' moments. Following a band that changes on a regular basis, it's kinda inevitable. When did LP catch you off guard?

For me, it would be back in 2007, when I was listening to MTM for the very first time. The album was different from the standard stuff we knew from HT/M, but still felt Linkin Park-ish in an awesome way. However, after hearing the first nine songs, something I totally hadn't seen coming happened. A Linkin Park song lacking Chester's singing and Mike's rapping. In Between featured Mike as the lead vocalist, who was singing the main vocal melody for the first time on a studio record. I was so surprised at first, being used to the usual Chester and Mike's roles, especially given that Chester sung most of the record, that I thought it might not be really Linkin Park, but some other band's song appearing on the leak version instead. Of course, I realized what was actually happening after a few seconds, but it really caught me off guard. Six years later, it's still a very favorite song of mine.

    What about you? :)
