lgr
if that title got you expecting something else, I do apologise... Metallica's S&M (for those who might not know) is a live album from '97 (it think) taken from two shows where the band performed a load of their classic and current work with a full orchestra providing an extra addition to the songs' instrumentation (the SanFran Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen if we're going to get snippy on the details). I have had this idea for a few weeks since LT's release (yes, inspired by Castle Of Glass) and I wonder who else thinks this could be something damned cool? I'm not making some sort of "do this or we'll hate you" thread. but i'd be interested to hear what people would think of this. I'm sure the band would collaborate with arrangements, and I think this would work with a large amount of LP's songs - the obvious - Breaking The Habit Castle Of Glass In The End (the string parts have been amplified alot in this recent Euro Festivals run) the "ooh that'd sound amazing" - The Messenger Iridescent KRWLING? Faint Little Things... - enough said the "damn! that'd be interesting" - W&K The Catalyst Victimised what do we reckon? - setlist you'd like to see? how would you see the songs being arranged? a few CA shows, or a full tour? FearOfTheDuck
Can we please have One Step Closer with strings? I think the riff would sound brilliant. Also, P5hng Me A*wy could be awesome with strings. Dave-Stone55
I don't know if LP is ready for a full orchestra, idk if they're up to that point in their careers yet. But, an unplugged kinda thing would be awesome!! As far as an orchestra here's my list of songs I'd wanna hear. Breaking the Habit Little Things Castle of Glass From The Inside With You Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/8779-metallica-sm-style-concerts/#findComment-168586 Share on other sites
gorast
Tbh, I dunno if this'd work unless the setlist included very few pieces pre-MTM. Strings can add an arbitrary level of sophistication to a song, but if it's over lyrics like "the memory won't escape me / but why should I care" then it'll just sound stupid. That said, I think LP could pull off a stripped down concert with a smaller string section. leftshoe18
One Step Closer could become insanely awesome with an orchestral arrangement. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/8779-metallica-sm-style-concerts/#findComment-168599 Share on other sites
Stranger
I already think about this for a long time but I'm not sure if everyone will like it.. For me,rock and orchestra is a great combination.. Just like Metallica and Scorpions, which both of the band is my favorite,I really enjoy the show and they sound awesome.. I can imagine how the songs from LP combine with orchestra.. It will be epic.. Ghost812
It would be an awesome idea. Linkin park has so many songs that would work well this idea. Maybe after the next LP album and some more time on the road. Then make this concert possible. [intro - no idea, something new for the event] 02. Faint 03. I'll Be Gone 04. Burn It Down 05. Leave Out All The Rest 06. ?? 07. Castle Of Glass 08. Shadow Of The Day 09. Papercut 10. Given Up 11. From The Inside 12. With You 13. Numb [keys outro] 14. Breaking The Habit 15. Jornada/Waiting For The End 16. Iridescent 17. The Messenger ------------- 18. Crawling [KRAWLING intro] 19. In The End 20. Powerless 21. The Little Things Give You Away 22. Roads Untravelled 23. One Step Closer Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/8779-metallica-sm-style-concerts/#findComment-168626 Share on other sites
XeroSoldier
This songs would go really well with an orchestra: Krwlng P5hng Me A*wy Breaking The Habit Numb Faint Nobody's Listening Easier To Run Shadow Of The Day Leave Out All The Rest The Little Things Give You Away Hands Held High What I've Done In Between In The End Runaway One Step Closer My December New Divide Waiting For The End Jornada Del Muerto The Catalyst Iridescent Burning In The Skies The Messenger Powerless Roads Untraveled Burn It Down Skin To Bone Until It Breaks Edited July 4, 2012 by XeroSoldier Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/8779-metallica-sm-style-concerts/#findComment-168878 Share on other sites
