LPFreak64
From Blabbermouth.net: Ryan Shuck (guitar), Amir Derakh (guitar), Bobby Hewitt (drums) and Paige Haley (bass) of ORGY, the "death pop" band from Bakersfield, California, have released the following statement: "As of October 26, Jay Gordon [vocals] will be leaving the original band ORGY. "We don't know what this means for the future of ORGY, but we are assuming that Jay intends to release new music under the name ORGY. We don't know if Jay has a new band waiting in the wings to replace us, or if he plans on doing it all on his own — but we do know that Jay is a talented writer, and we are sure that he will come up with something great. Read the rest of the article here. You can clearly see in that just 7 months ago that the ORGY dream was still alive, but it seems like Jay Gordon has decided to go with a different band. Thoughts? LPPRJKT4
Unless Ryan and Amir gave up the name willingly, that's a really dick move. Astat
Unless Ryan and Amir gave up the name willingly, that's a really dick move. Depends on who actually owns the trademark of the name "Orgy." If it's solely registered to Jay (or if the other members sold their portion of the rights to him at some point), it's really up to him. If not, expect there to be lawsuits if he ends up continuing as Orgy with another band. florez411
It's very unfortunate, We'll have to wait and see what Jay says, until we come to a conclusion. Wolfmother The other two guys left due to "irreconcilable differences," and left the name to Andrew. he then got another 3 guys and started a new band with the same name Same situation, kinda different. Phoebolita
Was really anticipating the Orgy reunion, so it is a disappointment. It came as a shock, as it was only in September when Ryan was talking about and Orgy tour probably next year, after thee Julien K gig in London. Can't help but wonder how long Jay was planning this. florez411
if you guys go to Jay's facebook page http://facebook.com/jaygordonmusic he does mention that he owns the name Orgy and licensed the name to the others when they began as a band, and that he sent them a letter stating that he was terminating their partnership, in essense he's taking then name back solely for himself. He does mention that he Amir and Ryan were in fact talking about a tour this past summer, but things didn't come to fruition. An interesting note is if you guys take a look at the comments to Jay's post, amir has something to say about Jay doing another cover of blue monday with other musicians. Sounds like a nasty back and fourth may come from them two as Amir says he isn't a side musician to anyone.
