Note:

The NAMM Show is one of the largest music product trade shows in the world, its only major competition being the Musik Messe in Frankfurt. It is held every January in Anaheim, California, USA at the Anaheim Convention Center. The January 2008 show had 1,560 exhibitors and a record-breaking 88,100 attendees. The NAMM Show is not open to the general public, only to members of the music trade and/or those who have been invited.

Each Winter NAMM Show is heavily covered by the music-industry press. Thousands of new-product introductions and demonstrations are made at Winter NAMM, making attendance by trade journalists a necessity.

Henry T. Nicholas III is free ?

U.S. prosecutors on Thursday moved to dismiss drug charges against former Broadcom Corp Chief Executive Henry Nicholas III but said they would appeal a judge's dismissal of charges against Nicholas and another executive related to stock options backdating.

A federal judge in Santa Ana, California last month threw out the government's criminal stock options backdating cases against Nicholas, former Chief Financial Officer William Ruehle and co-founder Henry Samueli, citing prosecutor misconduct and questions about whether crimes were committed at Broadcom.

In a motion filed on Thursday, Acting U.S. Attorney George Cardona said that while the government "disagrees with the Court's findings and rulings in the (stock options) fraud case" against Nicholas, it would abandon the drug case.

The government on Thursday filed notices of appeal to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal, seeking to reinstate the stock options backdating cases against Nicholas and Samueli.

Prosecutors let stand Carney's dismissal of Ruehle's case, which came shortly before the jury was to begin deliberating.

Samueli last year pleaded guilty to a related charge and had just finished testifying in Ruehle's case when Carney set aside the guilty plea and dismissed the indictment.

The judge at a later hearing threw out backdating-related fraud charges against Nicholas -- who was set to go to trial this year -- and set a February 2 hearing for prosecutors to show why the drug charges should not be dismissed as tainted by prosecutor misconduct.

An attorney for Nicholas had no comment on Thursday on the motion. A U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman had no further comment on the motions.

The court was expected to rule on the motion to dismiss the drugs case within the next few days.

LESTAT has the capability and is more than welcome to move Got News? posts to Newswire. I can't do everything on my own, which is why I have a staff for this site, lol.

I posted this thread in Got News section, because there were a little bit more important news in the Newswire.
