We've had such a wild ride, and I'm really glad we're back on track. What a great feeling to know there's a future in the Linkin Park world. I've been here this whole time and know some of the LPLive members have as well. How do you feel looking back at it? Anything else that I might have missed? Quote
bloodbath Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Glad that we have skipped that era, but to be honest I remember the feeling of the Post Traumatic era of "happy we have something, but it's not the real thing". Some of you were excited with the tour and all that, but I really didn't connect with that era. The worst part was visiting this place during 2021-2022, it was a desert. I mean, during 2020 we had the COVID and the HT20 anniversary, but those two years were of absolute dreadful silence. I was in terms of accepting that LP would be just a legacy act and nothing else. My biggest hope during that era, the Meteora box set, and nothing else. So during 2023 and 2024 it was strange, because you could feel in the air that there was something in the background, but not enough to get excited. For me, not much happened during these years, but more that I could expect. Quote

I feel exactly the same! I believe you've summed up perfectly. Looking back, lots of things happened, and only 3 were personally exciting: Cross Off, HT20, and Meteora 20. I wouldn't call the Hollywood Bowl show "exciting" because I was still grieving, even though I think it was great. Mike's projects were ok, but I never connected to them in the same level as LP. Also agreed that 2021 - 2022 was the hardest to believe there'd be a future in LP world Quote
LPLStaff Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Hell of a recap. All very good. PT era was good, the HT20 and Meteora 20 celebrations were great. Mike on Twitch was enjoyable and gave us something to focus on. There was indeed a period of time in 2022, and mid-to-late 2023 especially that made it feel like it just wasn't going to happen. The fan event in Brazil gave us the rumors stadium shows were booked and that seemed good enough to go on - the event itself was so random, and they were filming fans saying "Come to Brazil" chanting? lol. The Billboard article came out and LP changing agents meant for sure there was a future decided for the band because that's a massive move for someone 20+ years into their career. Dave Brooks is a senior writer at Billboard - if you pay close attention to Mike's comments since 2024, it seems the band's team and label were behind that article coming out and helped piece it together for him to drop so the news was broken officially by someone in a way the band wanted instead of by some random festival on the other side of the world leaking the band was returning - which was always possible. At that point they already had the Rock in Rio offer. Still quite a lot of silence after that, though - months. Fans didn't get any real info on the comeback until mid-to-late summer, when things were pretty much done lol. Warner likely crafted the "leak every other singer on the planet in summer 2024" campaign to keep Emily a secret - pretty genius move. "Is it Amy? Is it Deryck?" etc. Looking back, all of that is a VERY LONG TIME to not have anything show-wise happen. We were always still here but it definitely felt like the air got sucked out of it and they couldn't figure things out with the band, especially by 2023. Now look what happened lol Quote

And reading the Billboard article again, which came out April, 30th 2024, look how they gave us true yet misleading information: Quote Three members of Linkin Park are mulling a possible 2025 reunion tour and are considering hiring a female vocalist Emily was already the one at that point lol Quote Booking agency WME is taking offers for a potential Linkin Park tour along with headlining festival dates featuring Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell, the sources say. As we all know, Brad is not touring, but Joe is It never mentions new music or shows in 2024. Well played Quote
