Hey soldiers, what do you think of Mike responded on Discord to a fan who asked, "Are you going to do any kind of event or release for The Rising Tied 20th... MikeShinoda, we don't have any plans for any anniversary releases right now. Looking forward to the future, not the past."https://x.com/BroodingAnanas/status/1977961717490676121/photo/1

After this comment from Mike, will we not have any more box sets? or is it too early for them to think about MTM20?
What do you think?

  • thigolpbr changed the title to MTM20th box set in 2027???? Yes or No ????

I def think MTM20 will happen. It’s their third most significant record, the first to redefine the band. A pivotal moment in their career. It will be honored I’m sure.

"at the moment" doesnt mean they can't change their thought today, tomorrow, next week, and so on. Mike just saying that casually so that people wont rush and keep asking bout it. if it's gonna happen, it will happen. not celebrating MTM20 is plain dumb for Warner (who loves milking..)

It’s pretty clear — as Mike said — the band is focused on the future. They introduced the new lineup a few months after Papercuts release that got almost no promotion or interviews. Papercuts still had the old lineup listed and promoted. Then came "Sep 5," which I think pretty much closed the Chester era, at least for now. I don’t expect another anniversary box soon; they’re treating this as a fresh, updated era. They’ll probably put out a live release and then work on the next studio album.

I also agree the band doesn’t want to dwell on the Chester era anymore, even if that sounds a bit harsh. There are signs: no Chester vocals in LPTV episodes, very few tributes during shows, using re-recorded Emily backing vocals live, etc. Papercuts really felt like a closure to that chapter.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Yes, the band has put focus on the new line up during the From Zero era, but I wouldn’t say they have forgotten Chester.

Papercuts was something that Mike didn’t even really want to do. I think it was Warner who wanted them to put out a Greatest Hits since they knew that they would be coming out with a new lineup soon, but the band never wanted to do a Greatest Hits, that’s why it’s called ‘’Singles Collection’’, etc. Mike even said he forgot that they put out Papercuts at one of the early 2024 shows. I think the band just viewed Papercuts as a compilation thing, Warner is the one who wanted all of the merch and different physical versions, etc. The success of the Meteora set and Lost in general was what sparked that. Mike probably thought it was a good time to put out Friendly Fire as he was talking back during the Covid streams about wanting to put it out at some point as he liked the song a lot. And fans were complaining about not having QWERTY on streaming forever, so also no brainer, instead of having fans wait until Minutes To Midnight 20 to have it on streaming, Mike even said QWERTY was a Minutes To Midnight song when a fan asked him why it wasn’t on Meteora 20, which it is.

There was a large gap between Meteora and Minutes To Midnight. It’s only October of 2025. The anniversary for Minutes To Midnight isn’t until May of 2027. We have a long way to go. I’m not sure why people have been asking about it right now. Way too early. At this point in 2005, Mike hadn’t even released The Rising Tied yet.

The band isn’t going to put out tons of demos or live shows with Chester randomly for no reason. They have the 20th sets to do that and they will when it’s the right time for Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns. I’m confident that they will do a set for each of those albums. I’m not sure if they will do sets for later albums but they probably will, no point to predict that far away though.

Trust me, Mike/Brad and the band know that people want Chester stuff. I mean they aren’t dumb. They’re just not going to put out sloppy releases of stuff with Chester randomly. They’re doing it right. It just will take a little time. I mean we just got Meteora 20 a couple years ago and Hybrid Theory 20 3 years before that as well as Papercuts. No point in hyping up Minutes To Midnight 20 until like late fall of 2026.

I’d like that to be true, but only time will tell. To be realistic, I don’t expect an MTM20 release. I’m not saying they’ll never put out anything with Chester on it—just not so soon after the comeback. Maybe MTM25, or they could skip MTM20 and go with ATS20 instead.

It wouldn't make sense to skip MTM20 and release only ATS20.

MTM will be the key to knowing whether the band will revisit the past (which all fans love and would like) or, if not, we'll know that the band has definitively ended the old era. Which, honestly, would be very sad and disappointing.

I respect the band's new phase because they're happy and successful. They've also gained new fan bases from the new generation and such.
But I still prefer the old lineup, and that's fine, as long as we respect each other.

The band knows this detail too, and at least I think they still care about their old-school fans, and these box sets, at least of MTM20 and ATS20, would still be a gift to the fan community.

I know this thread is just related to Mike's response to a fan about TRT20, but I wanted to create this thread so that in a year and a half we can come back here with a photo of the MTM20 boxset 😃 or a screenshot of Mike on Discord saying that there won't be MTM20.😞

The band has an agenda to distance themselves from Chester, they've doing certain things to make people forget about him.

Mike wants the new gen fan to focus on the new lineup the new songs and thats fine.. For them.

Let's not forget that they are this massive band because of their previous albums, because of the legacy, because of the work from every band member and in a huge percentage because of the Rockstar status of Chester.

They should keep honoring the past if they don't want to honor the past just play FZ songs and Shinoda stuff.

Hi! I try to have good faith in everything, do you think that they want us to forget about Chester? That is not possible...he was such a talented, kind, loving, funny, caring, humble, tortured soul...wanted everyone to be happy, always gave love... gifted to convey emotions, straight into our hearts. His energy, his voice, his laugh...he brightened up the world 💔. Miss him every day, to be honest, and pray for him. I agree about what you said regarding how and why they got to be this awesome band. And it is difficult to listen to the old songs sung by anyone but him. I just don't. I think they try to create new stuff so that they suit the current lineup and move on, without disrespect. I really want them to be happy and I am glad to see them smiling and creating again :) They deserve it. They have suffered and grieved a lot. But I, too, am attached to the old lineup. Mike mentioned Chester in the Phoenix concert, I saw a video, he means a lot to him, they were like brothers.

sorry to say but this is pure bullshit. we totally get it you're a hardcore Chester fan, but don't come up with something crap like this. your speculation doesnt represent the band. it's just you! you thinking that way and and now you make it like the band saying it. "I don't know if i'd be here if it wasn't for you!" - this word alone reflects that how Mike really grateful to have Chester in the band and honouring him. it's kinda sick to see people hating on Mike just because your fav. singer no longer with the band.

in the end, people just speculate and over reacting on some tiny comment from Mike and make it a big deal.

Do you think it may be hard for them to do these anniversary boxes for albums with Chester? I mean, emotionally difficult. To go through all those memories all over again...I tear up just thinking about it. I miss him and I hadn't even met him, imagine what it must be like for them, with all they have shared with him...to go through it again. And those albums, MTM, ATS, LT, THP, OML, they carry emotional weight. If they don't do any more, I think it will be because of that. Just a thought.

I believe MTM will happen. I will think positive!

Sometime momento next year, they (Warner/band) sat down and planned it.
And we won't know until 2027.

I wonder how they'll do it? HT20 was a trailer and MT20 was the puzzles

Did they follow one of these formulas or something new?
I think the trailer would be something cool and more direct.

Let's hope so :) So, we'll stay positive!

They are very creative, they may do something totally new.

Hi guys! Just wanted to say that LP music has always united people. We have our stories and attachments to the band. It is a model band, actually, 6 talented people, Chester, Mike, Rob, Brad, Joe, Dave (random order!) who were actual friends and loved each other gave us great music, like non other, every time reaching higher levels of awesomeness, each contributing to it! (Tbh, for me Mike is the mind of the band, such high levels of artistic intelligence, Chester was the heart, anyway, I could go on forever on this and it's not the point)

This is a new time for the band, one may enjoy it or not but let's just have respect and not divide or hate :) All the best to you all, may God be with you 🩵

Chester forever in our hearts 🕊️

There’s a difference between this and telling outright lies.

Why do people actually think they’ve ‘forgotten’ or are trying to ‘erase’ Chester? Mike literally did 2 tributes to him in his hometown, is that not enough?! What do you want then dude? Them to plaster his face all over the venue every city they go to?

I get it you miss him, I agree they wouldn’t be where they are without him. But in my mind we already had a Chester tribute tour and that was the Post Traumatic cycle. At some point you have to accept it. It’s been 8 years. Not 8 months.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again. If anyone is still really mourning Chester they should really seek therapy, it’s not healthy or normal to be this obsessed about someone who’s been gone for 8 years.

Two things considered. Mike is a very diplomatic guy, he isn't going to tell you: Stop asking about the next boxset, it's too soon. If he tells you that there will be another boxset many people will spend the next two years thinking about some random demos from 2006 and stop paying attention for a rebirth he has put so much effort the last 4 or 5 years.

Second, he's happy with his band right now. Last thing to do on his mind right now is thinking about how many shows from the Projekt Revolution 08 should he include on the boxset. Maybe by this time next year he will start to think about assembling the whole thing, maybe
