Slowly liking OEO more than HITC.

LOL. I thought I was the only one!

Honestly I’m thinking that the band had a genius single selection process.

You have TEM which has that classic LP sound and is a perfect introduction to the new lineup

HITC is a straight up nu metal style LP banger, to me it feels like a weird mix of Given Up and Faint.
OEO is a straight up LP pop song, very different than what we’re accustomed to but it’s still really good, I love Emily’s performance on this so much for some reason. I actually think her scream is great I like it a lot, but her melodic singing is in my opinion where she really shines.

All in all, I’d say probably:

TEM 100/100

HITC 80/100

OEO 90/100

Really solid to great music they’re putting out so far, excited for the album (especially to hear Casualty and Good Things Go - those are my two most anticipated songs from the record, the former because of how the band talked about it and it being really heavy and the latter because of the lyrics I saw and it being one of the earlier post Chester demos).

We can at least expect one more song (OEO obviously). Some of the members talked about 2-3 or 1-2 more songs. They named like 80% of the record they wanna play live. I'm curious how they wanna pull that off without extending the setlist to 2,5 hours or cutting "must-haves" in the setlist.

Yep, we'll see what gets in and what out. Waiting eagerly for the album, and the next show in Paris.

Yeah so far the live shows have been exciting and the 3 songs are all pretty good, I mean I am not big on OEO but it's not LGM or Good Goodbye, which I don't hate but they are kinda cringy and have some objectively bad things (the dubstep base and cringy lyrics of LGM and Stormzy on GG).  So like we are at a 2,5/3 songs that i like so far

songs i wouldn't mind them dropping (the catalyst, Mike and Joe's solo, Castle of Glass, Friendly Fire).

I love all the songs you mentioned but it's true that:

1) Emily doesn't sound that great on The Catalyst

2) FF is good but I always had the feeling that it should remain a sort of "Chester final song" giving closure to his era

3) one of the solos could be dropped, would not complain

Since when has LP been promoting an album with songs that are mostly seen as "good" or "great"?  ATS, right?

Good feelings about "From Zero", good feelings.

Yep. ATS. Catalyst and Wretches were great picks at the time and still great picks in 2024 looking back at ATS. MTM was legendary with WID, NMS, and GU at the live shows before the album dropped. But for pre-release songs, ATS takes the cake until this album.

Catalyst at the time was a bit polarizing (amazing song) but aged extremely well like the rest of the album did. Emptiness Machine was MASSIVE and is universally loved. They did extremely well with the new album in this sense by getting these 3 specific songs out.

Pre released singles off FZ are so much betterthan any post ATS "combo" of songs for sure. TEM Is amazing, HITC is pure nu metal LP and OEO is fresh and catchy as hell.
