When Linkin Park started sharing "Notes from the band" in 2022 Rob was on the signature list, so his departure must have been after that at least.

My theory is that he wasn't happy with the decision of choosing Emily as the lead (and only) vocalist.

Theh said that they tried working w other vocalists and Emily was meant to be a feature.

Probably Rob liked the idea of not having a permanent Vocalist and when they chose Emily he stepped away.

The timing of Robs departure makes sense w my theory.

I don't really know about that man.

Remember in the first interview from the comeback that Emily said they basicly asked her about being the singer for Linkin Park around september last year, before she went on vaccation.

That's when shit started to be real for LP at least.

But your theory could still also be true if it was before that time that they were continueing as LP that they at least were certain to perform, but maybe under a different name.

Eventually, one occasion where we could hear from Rob again would be if, in the distant future, some media outlets tracks him back and get an interview from him. And being the introvert, off-the-gird, person that he is, the odds are very high he'd decline any such thing.

Not counting on any further details about his departure, at least not any time soon. i wouldn't hold my breath on it.

I'm betting media have already hounded his reps for comments n questions n he just doesn't want anything to do or say anymore.

I do often wonder, (I have alot of time to either worry about life or wonder these type of things 😄 n I choose these),

If they paid him out like they did Talinda, he no longer has involvement, reps, nothing.

He owes the fans nothing, but it woulda been a perfect time to have a statement of thanks to us n good luck to the guys. Just something simple, no explanation necessary. Something.

We saw him last in 2020.

I do remember Mike, in his streams, saying "I couldn't get ahold of him. Rob's on another planet, I don't know where he is".

And another, when a fan asked why Rob didnt attend a live stream he was supposed to, he said, "It's a long story..I have no excuses or explanations."  The look on his face was a bit irritated IMO.

I'm also guessing they tired of chasing Rob to do things, participate, attend.

Now Colin is a dream come true for Mike.

We'll never see him again.

They may be up for Rock Hall nominations next year. Be interesting if he would show for that, that's a big deal.

I dunno.. just venting n wondering cuz I have nowhere else I can put my lame-o thoughts about it all. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks people!

Yeah, they'll get nominated right outta the gate!

Some do their first year, but I have a notion we'll all band together n get it done.

I have often thought of, and wondered what, Rob is doing now.  I hoped for a reunion of all the Linkin park I knew. Including brad and especially Rob.  I don't think it would have been that hard to find a singer who would so perfectly be able to recreate chesters passionate softness and transition to the gutteral screams.  In fact, I had a few friends in the music industry that would have been perfect.  Linkin Park will never be Linkin park for me again.  Not with the chick singer.  Not without brad and especially without Rob.  Castle of glass was my favorite song to watch live....because of Rob.  I wish I would run into him someday, somewhere. He's the best drummer, ever

I disagree with this entire comment, but I feel like I need to point out that Brad is still in the band.

Another new account made specifically for whining about how over Linkin Park is. Superb.

Cool bro. I also have friends in the music industry who, sonically, would fit in Linkin Park pretty well if the goal was to replace Chester, but instead of bitching, I'm celebrating "the chick singer" as you call her. Is she Chester? No, and neither are any of my friends or your "friends." But she has a powerful voice of her own - like Chester had - and fits well within the band's chemistry - like Chester did - and that's far more important than simply having "the guy that does the thing the same way the other guy did the thing."

I’m not sure if Rob really was the one but you never know! Mike always forgets stuff which is normal since he doesn’t obsess over stuff like us.

I never got to comment on Rob leaving, so I will now. It sucks but Colin is a great replacement. They are different, though, Rob brought more of a groove, like a hip-hop style influence along with the rock side. But I’m sure Colin could do that style, too. Colin just seems more straight forward rock style, which fits the current sound. I don’t think LP is going to change their sound as drastically as they once did from album to album anymore.

Also, Mike said Rob wasn’t present in the HT20 promo, he actually was, he was a part of an interview or two. I’m too lazy to check but did he react to the San Diego ‘01 show with them? Either way, he did do at least one interview with them.

So when did he really leave the band truly? I’m thinking shortly after that time in 2020. So he was present with some sessions with Emily probably since Mike said they met in 2019. Could have been Rob for sure that wanted them to meet. I would say Rob was completely done with the band from 2021 and onwards.

I think maybe it was too hard for him to continue without Chester. I watched some interviews with him and Chester, just the two of them, one from 2007, and they seemed to get along well. I think Chester’s moody side of his personality could relate to Rob and vice versa. Plus they both had addiction issues at one time, although Chester def suffered from that more, doing drugs and drinking again in 2015-2017. Maybe Rob and Chester shared a darkness that no one knew.

Ryan shuck said that when Chester died in 2017, they were all at the house right after, and he met the LP guys there and said Rob in particular told him the most heartfelt stuff and was really upset or something, I’ll have to find the interview where Ryan talks about it, it’s old.

Of course I could be wrong about all of this, and maybe Rob just didn’t want to drum in a band anymore, similarly to Brad not wanting to tour at all. They guys are getting older, something we forget sometimes, and maybe Rob enjoys his life outside of the spotlight.

Either way, I wish him the best in life and thank him for all the memories that he helped create for me. I have an epic photo of me shaking his hand at the Syracuse, NY 2007 Meet and Greet.

I always felt like Rob had least in common w Chester. Chester's such a ham n extrovert, a whirlwind of energy so unlike him. He's an observer.

Thats interesting u said that about addiction. I remember watching a Shinoda Stream n he was asked if he drank alcohol on the road n he said he rarely put it on rider "because of Rob and Chester."

I was surprised, had n idea he had troubles too.

I'm assuming it was early? After his breakup, like 2007-ish, he seemed to change drastically n cleaned it all up by 2011-ish.

I'd love to hear that Ryan interview.. in my winding mind, I always wonder how that day was. I remember Joe showing up, and I can only imagine the shock n trauma of that morning.

Anna recounted a bit from her perspective, and it still brings me tears to think about.

Rob seems like such a "hold it inside n break down later" kinda fella.

He's such a mystery.

I know more about Colin in one hour of his AMA than 20 years of Rob.

I also have a question.. (I do deep dives don't mind me) there's a guy named Alan that he thanked repeatedly in album thank yous.

I vaguely remember seeing reference that he passed in another album thank you. He seemed to have a very very big influence on Rob.

I got the inclination he was a life coach or, now I understand, maybe a sponsor.

It's just crazy that he walked away from what's been his whole life.

Good for him, have a quiet life.

But I'm still gonna miss his face n be bummed out he's not sitting in that seat.

I find myself smiling n being so happy that's they're back, they're happy n having a great time, then it wipes away when I think of how much fun it woulda been if Rob were around.

I'll never get to see him play live n that sucks.

How was he when you met?

I love peoples stories!

Man you should write a book about LP with deep stories you would do it better than the Billboard guy.

Hope you stick around I love reading all your unique comments.

Hopefully you can find that interview.

I somewhat disagree. Chester actually wasn’t an extroverted as you might think. His early life, and the 2004-2006 period especially. I think him and Rob could have related together quite well, actually. Chester put on a happy face a lot of the times, so to speak.

Thanks man. Idk about writing a book haha but I do like to talk about the band on here. I agree that the Starts With One book was garbage, I liked Jeff Blue’s book much more. And thank you, it’s not up to me, though! Just want to talk about the band, that’s all. And I’ll look for it tonight.

Yeah, as I was writing it, I did have the thought chester wasn't like that most of the time. Member Mike saying how he had his Dark days... so yeah, I agree w ya.

Maybe I just have a hard time seeing chester n Rob being besties for some reason. When chester would hug him, I always chuckle cuz it looked so awkward n forced.

Then again, Robs kinda an awkward guy 🤔

They did well in interviews when it's just the two of them tho.

I do notice Rob would be paired w either Mike or Chester thru the years.

Less talking for him  😉

Bet that was one of his deciding factors to not return..no more answering the same lame questions over n over or sitting next to Mike while he rambles on n on..
