    - Third time in Bangkok after appearances in 2004 and 2007.

    - The show started hours later than planned due to very bad weather (heavy rain and winds).

    - Phoenix did not perform at all at this show due to food poisoning - the first time a Linkin Park band member has missed an entire show. Ted, the bass tech, filled in for him and stood on the right side of the stage. We can assume this is why 'Blackout' was dropped after being in the setlist for a record five shows in a row. The setlist spot for 'Blackout' in this setlist would have been in the encore before 'New Divide'.

    - 'Empty Spaces' and 'Fallout' had technical difficulties, with 'Fallout' being shortened a bit.

    - During the bridge of 'Bleed It Out', Mike rapped verse 1 of 'A Place For My Head' followed by Chester singing the bridge.

    The performance at the Griffith Park Observatory seems like forever ago. The show, and performance of The Catalyst for the MTV VMAs was the kickoff of our tour for A THOUSAND SUNS. Now, at the end of the tour and cycle, a moment of reflection is in order.

     

    To be honest, we were really hurting at the end of it all. Earlier this week, I stumbled into the venue in Bangkok with my band mates, dumbfounded at our state: one man down from food poisoning, two arms in slings, a bruised hand, cuts all over, sleep deprivation, and motion sickness, on top of what would be another 7+ hour travel day.

     

    A year before, at Griffith Park, this tour started with the release of an album that was challenging to make, and a challenge for fans to understand. We knew the road ahead was going to be difficult. There were exhausting tours, confused and angry fans, and bloodthirsty critics on the horizon. But that night in Thailand, before the show, those obstacles were in front of me in the realest way.

     

    A year before, we knew what we were getting into. And we believed in our album, we were encouraged by the fans. As time went on, as some fans went away and others came along for the ride, I’m proud of the thing we all built together. The tour took us to amazing new places. The performances at Puerta De Alcala, Griffith Park, Red Square, Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore (among others) were landmarks for the band.

     

    And the fans in Bangkok helped us power through one of our most difficult shows, showing the love that Linkin Park fans all over the world are known for.

     

    So at the end of it all, I just wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank-you to my bandmates, our staff, road crew, and fans for making this tour and album cycle amazing. Thank you.

     

    Now, time to go home and get back to work…

    - The band completely changed the setlist for this show. 'Moscow Intro' made its second appearance ever, after the Moscow show earlier in the year. 'New Divide' opened for the fourth time ever (after New York City 2010, Detroit 2011 and Moscow 2011), 'From The Inside' appeared in the number two spot for the first time since last show of 2009 in Pomona, CA (or arguably when it "opened" after 'Session' in Shanghai 2009), and 'One Step Closer' appeared for the first time ever in the third spot.

    - The bridge of 'New Divide' was messed up - the sampled part of the breakdown wasn't played.

    - During 'Given Up', a crew member came on stage to repair Joe's gear. The electronic breakdown part of 'New Divide' was messed up.

    - During the bridge of 'Bleed It Out', Rob played a drum solo and then Mike rapped verse 1 of 'A Place For My Head' followed by Chester singing the bridge.

    Other Notes:

    - This show was for the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, their second F1 Grand Prix show after they played the event in Abu Dhabi in 2010. Linkin Park was the only performer of the day on the main stage and performed right after the F1 race ended.

    - Chester hurt his arm sometime between the Bangkok show and this show - pictures before this show show him with his left arm in a sling. This is likely why 'Empty Spaces', 'When They Come For Me', and possibly 'Blackout' were not played (since he plays drums/pads on those tracks), but he was still able to play guitar on 'Iridescent'.

    - At a few shows prior to this performance you can hear Mike coming up with ways to replace the "motherfucker" line in the song. He ended up settling on doubling his "catch up" in his "try to catch up" line before the chorus.

    - Foo Fighters performed as the surprise guests before Linkin Park. Due to that set occuring, Linkin Park had to shorten their setlist a little bit. 'Burning In The Skies' and 'Fallout' were dropped from the main portion of the set and 'Shadow Of The Day' was dropped from the encore.

    - This is the first time that 'Breaking The Habit' didn't have the acapella outro in 2011. It sounded like Chester had some sort of problem (stumbling on stage?) near the end of the song.

    - Chester mentioned that the crowd made the previous night's crowd in Irvine, CA look like they were "fucking sleep walking".

    - Before 'New Divide', Mike asked the crowd if they knew that Linkin Park was trending on Twitter the night before. He said he thought it had to do with the new music video ('Iridescent') for Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon. Chester replied jokingly, "I have no idea what you just said."

    - This was the first full show since May 19, 2007 (KROQ Weenie Roast y Fiesta in Irvine, CA) that didn't have an encore break. The November 7, 2010 show in Madrid, Spain for the MTV EMA's didn't have one as well but at that show the band played an abbreviated 20 song setlist, cutting 'No More Sorrow', 'Given Up' and 'One Step Closer'.

    - During the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' Mike rapped the first verse of 'A Place For My Head' followed by Chester singing the bridge.

    - Before the soundcheck started, there was about a 20 minute session where Mike and Joe were on stage jamming by themselves. Mike was playing the 'Blackout' piano parts and Joe was playing the 'Blackout' samples over it for about 1/4 of this jam. After that, Chester, Phoenix, and Rob joined them at the front of the stage with paper and pens, making setlists for the tour (as seen on the LPTV episode about this rehearsal). A few minutes later, Mike gives a speech to the fans gathered in the arena and says, "Welcome to soundcheck. We are making our setlists right now. Brad is sick right now so he is not soundchecking, but he will be at the show. All of his guitar parts at the soundcheck are sampled for right now but we want to make sure you know that we do not do that live, ever. Also, we are rehearsing songs tonight that you will not see at the show tonight."

    - Between some songs of the soundcheck, the band jammed for a few minutes. The first of these came after 'Wretches And Kings'.

    - Phoenix started playing 'Blackout' on his bass guitar. After the fourth attempt, Mike told the fans that Phoenix is still learning to play the bass guitar on the song, but it's hard to get the tech specs right for it.

    - After two more takes of 'Blackout', the fans were lined up for a M&G with the band. However, the band was just taking a break to work on setlists for the tour again, and then they continued soundcheck after about a ten minute break.

    - Phoenix went back to playing the pads on 'Blackout' after the break. After the first attempt, Mike told the fans that Chester doesn't sing all of the lines of the song every time they rehearse it because of his voice and because it is a hard song to sing.

    - After the last 'Blackout' performance, the band played a two minute jam with 'Blackout' piano and improv. drumming and samples. Chester commented that 'Blackout' is like an "80's jam song". After the jam, he said that soundcheck is boring to him and he thinks it is not any fun.

    - After most takes of 'Burning In The Skies', Mike would play the solo of the song by himself. On the last guitar solo, he was off behind Joe's DJ stand on stage left. Before the last take, he tried the song with a different guitar.

    - During 'Leave Out All The Rest', Joe went to sit on the right of the stage by himself to watch. Chester left the stage after the song.

    - Mike told the band to start 'The Catalyst' right after the intro, so it began with Rob playing the drum samples. Chester was absent for most of the song and came back on stage during the first "lift me up" and sang only a few lines of the song until the end.

    - Chester played 'The Messenger' on acoustic guitar himself due to Brad being absent.

     Other Notes:

    - Around fifty radio winners from around the United States were flown in for the rehearsal, which the band was using as a warmup for their North American Tour for A Thousand Suns. The rehearsal lasted around an hour and fifty five minutes with about a ten minute break roughly about halfway through. Winners were treated to a M&G by the band members (without Brad) after the rehearsal.
