  1. weren't the no more sorrow rips posted on LPlive back in 2.0 as part of a remix contest?

I have the vocals/drums and the bass rips, but no guitar {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif

as for the OSC rips, i dont have them yet, but I'm planning on getting rock band 2 soon and I can rip them from there.

Trust me, im just as anxious to hear them as you are.

  2. Straight from the blog of the master http://www.mikeshinoda.com. Let's hear your thoughts. Is there an underlying message in this? Do you think Mike is realizing the mess Warner is putting the LP fans in? Not only that, but with Machine Shop, Styles Of Beyond, Holly Brook, etc. You folks over at SOBCentral.com know exactly what I'm talking about. Is this just a statement or is Mike really saying something to us? I think Mike's speaking out. Opinions and comments?

HOW TO DECIDE: MAJOR OR INDIE?

"i want to add something that i may not have made 100% clear with my statement at blogworld about signing (or not) with major labels. i knew that this statement would resonate...don't worry, i'm not backing down from what i said at all.

by no means do i know everything about how this works. i've made mistakes, and i don't know all the inner workings of the varied, complicated agreements that musicians are making with various entities. as you read on, i simply want to remind you that there are other opinions on the subject. this is mine.

at blogworld, i said that if you want to make a living making music, and you don't need the "fame" aspect (you don't need to "blow up"), then you don't need to go with a major. it's more complex than "avoiding majors" though. AND, to be perfectly clear, i'm also not saying the ONLY other option is an indie label (you could distribute it and promote it yourself, for example). i'm saying that there are many ways to be a self-sustaining musician these days. recording is easier and cheaper than ever, distribution can be nearly as simple as setting up a paypal account, and online fanbases are out there for you to find and connect with.

the key still is, and will always be: is your music good? do i, as a fan, like it? to what degree am i interested in being a part of what you have to offer through your recordings, shows, or merchandise?

on a side note: if fame is the focus part of the equation today, then what about linkin park? the answer: times were different back in the late 1990s when we signed with a major. they weren't asking for ownership of your touring, merchandise, fan club, and domain name back then. they are now.

to put it in perspective: tom whalley, the president of warner brothers, would love to see you succeed and build a strong following of 10,000 fans by yourself, with no one else's help. at that point, he knows that if you decide to work with warner bros., although he will have to offer you more in order for you to be interested in working with WB, your work has given you (and them) a head start, plus they know they're working with someone who understands what it takes to build momentum from the ground up. it's a win-win.

anyway, the bottom line is that the power is now in your hands more than ever. my advice to you is to throw the old rulebook out, be thoughtful about your decisions, and do what works for you."

I think I understand what Mike is saying:

at blogworld, i said that if you want to make a living making music, and you don't need the "fame" aspect (you don't need to "blow up"), then you don't need to go with a major. it's more complex than "avoiding majors" though. Him talking about whether to choose a major label or indie label.

...then what about linkin park? the answer: times were different back in the late 1990s when we signed with a major. they weren't asking for ownership of your touring, merchandise, fan club, and domain name back then. they are now."

He's saying how warner brothers is asking for ownership of merchandise, LPU, domain names, and touring, and how they weren't doing it before.

BAD WARNER BROTHERS! BAD! YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THIS!

pretty much, mike is upset how warner brothers is try to take ownership of everything, giving barely any control to the band, and how both the band and the fans suffer because of it.

  3. They KILLED in the end, waited 3 days, revived it from the dead, made it ok, then made it even worse, and then killed it again. They turned in the end from an emotional rock song to some hip-hop crap. I know, it's reanimation, but they should of done in the end like they did crawling.

Pushing me away and crawling were freakin awesome though

  4. I like their new direction MUCH better. Sure, HT and Meteora had really good songs, energetic, etc. But there's just something about the softer songs on MTM that are just so good...

I'm not saying all of them should be soft, I'm saying that an album build such as MTM was perfect for me. {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif

  5. Here's mine:

    1. MTM b-side

    2. MTM b-side

    3. MTM b-side

    4. MTM b-side

    5. That meteora b-side that people heard clips of, i forgot how it went...

    6. Meteora b-side

    7. LOATR demo (fear) with mike singing

    8. LTGYA demo/version with mike singing

    9. Valentines day demo

    10. Easier to run instrumental

My thoughts: NEVER going to happen. ever. I got a better chance of linkin park knocking on my front door in 5 minutes...

  6.

While Pictureboard would be awesome, to my knowledge, it was never recorded. Same goes for the Xero live show, it's not clear whether it was recorded or not.

even so, mike might have them, or they could record a LP pictureboard. and the xero performance was important to the guys, so im sure 1 of them recorded it. anyways, its just something I want on the LPU 8
I'm about 99% sure they never recorded it, and if they did, it's gone now. The band doesn't even have personal copies of the Xero demo tape. Which is also evidence that they probably didn't record the Xero show either, seeing as they were still extremely small time back then and most local bands don't generally record their shows. Plus this isn't the only Xero show that was ever played, it's just the only one anyone really remembers for whatever reason. The tracklising from it is not confirmed in any way, shape, or form either.

I'm sure that the band does NOT have copies of all their xero songs. They even said when they started remembering reading my eyes in 2006 they had to download the song off the internet just so that they would remember it. If they had a copy of their own, that wouldnt of happened.

  7. 1. New instrumental

    2. B-Side/Demo/Remix

    3. Hunger Strike (New studio version with Chester)

    4. The Outsider (Live with Chester and Ashes Divide)

    5. B-Side/Demo/Remix

    6. Remix

Imagine if it was a 12 track CD, being all the demos of the songs on MTM. Oh god!!

there were only 17 fully written songs for MTM. 12 made it unto the album, and 1 is NRL. so there can only be up to 4 MTM b-sides.
  8. Anyone else heard this? I think it's great. Does anyone have any information about it other than it being played once or twice? I think it's rumored to be pictureboard...
